  1. Right I've looked into this a little more and came up with this idea. I checked the pads and they only fit the LS400 & soarers. So I'm thinking if the Soarers have the same sensor end to connect to the pad and how much are they? I'm thinking of getting a soarer sensor, Cutting the wires to remove the sensor and reconnect them to the wires on the LS400. I've seen this connector before on another brake pad, But can't think of it at moment. I think it's free with a set of pads, So plan to cut that one and attach the the LS400. The sensor I've seen has the same space on the pad to fit. Will update when I find the compatable sensor.
  2. I plan to do that in the morning, But just can't get over that price for such a small part. It's shocked me and I'm in the trade dealing with various parts and cars.
  3. Just changed the rear pads on my LS400 which look like they have never been done. In that process I had to destory the sensors attached to the old pads too which they were moulded over time into the join and there was no way they were going to come apart still intact. Have now changed the pads, But light on dash and need new sensors. Just phoned Lexus(Mr D Turpin) and been quoted £46+vat each(While he was wearing a mask). After having a heart attack for something about the size of 3mm, Even I think that this is a little over the top for an item which is sometimes free with other pads makers. So has anyone come across this before and know where to get a cheaper pair of sensors from UK or abroad. This must have happened before with an old set of pads on a LS. Thanks
  4. Also a first for me on this problem. I read loads about the LS400 in the last few months on various websites and haven't seen this one.
  5. As mentioned before by me in a thread recently, You'll find the unit don't like playing certain CD's. remember the unit is from 1993 and CDR's weren't around. My unit doesn't like certain CDR's and won't play CDRW's at all. Also stuggles with scratches on discs. My unit takes time to load, But it's old. I found putting in new cd's have helped alot and play these all the time.
  6. Whats wrong with the unit?? Does it power up? Does the cd mag load and unload correctly? Has the sub amp have power? There was a 1993 silver ls400 getting broken on ebay.
  7. Most people get lazy and once cured a problem forgot to tell people. It#s like that on a lot of onwers site. must say that the lexus site is one of the better ones for information and how easy and freely it is obtained. The saying goes power is knowledge. We could have some more stickies that show how certain problems are solved. Should start a thread on like cd changer not working and then let everyone leave information on it. After say two months that thread gets edited to leave a thread with just the answers. Example. STICKY THREAD TITLE: CD changer not workiing. Reasons 1) Damp in unit. Cure: Dry out boot and damp and cleans seals to stop water getting back in. 2) Magazine not loading. Cure: Purchase new cd holder. Phillips model XXXX. Ebay sellers Joe bloggs, Jack bloggs. 3) Err showing on disply. Cure: Unit will not play CDRW's or certain CDR's and some old colour faced CD's. These must be edited correctly and updated by someone how can to edit out the rubbish stuff and just leave the facts on the problem and how to solve it. A bit like the lexls tutorials website. When new cd problems arise and member(s) know how to solve it, Then a PM to the editior of the thread to suggest for them to update the thread if the problem and cure seems correct to be added. How about that working then folks???? Any good???
  8. Sorry there are holes underneath the lexus badge, But not the ls400 badge. When I answered that, I already had the ls400 removed. So decided this week to debage the back and you've guessed it. Found the holes. Looks like the car has been machine gunned, But around here that's the norm on this estate. I've got it booked for the holes to be filled in and reprayed at the back. £70 all in. Why did lexus have holes one side and not the other?
  9. I think you're new, But have a look at my threads further down as they answer 90% of the questions you've put in the last few days. In relation to the keys, As mentioned in my thread before, I got a new set from Lexus already cut with a new chip for the rear box for £170 for a chip and two master keys. The reason I changed the chip, As just bought the car and didn't want someone with the orignal master key walking up to my car and driving away with it. Peace of mind for me. Seems quite common for a LS400 second hand not having alll the keys.
  10. Fitting was no problem, But you have to use the black rubbers that come with the lights. The reason is the standard rudders are ticker and lock better but you're unable to push the light in enough to stop it popping out over bumps. The supplied rubber is thinner and a little more of a pain to hold right around the light, But will allow the unit to clip into the wing. I can't put up pics on this site, But have emailed them to the ebay seller. He'll be willing to send you a few pics or even show them on his listed if asked. He does have a before and after picture close up. I've deleted the pics of my camera. Sorry. Only have one of them fully fitted, but they are easy to do.
  11. I've worked on a few cars in my life and found most cars being the same. Designed by man, Reparied by man. With the LS400 any tidy garage can work on these cars with no problems. The trouble is that the LS400's hardly break down or have any faults, So they normally just need good servicing. My LS400 had all the common faults listed on the website. I had them all. I have now done them all and given the car a complete service changing all the wear and tear items. The timing belt is the mother of belts to change, But once done you can do anything on the car. I also changed other items around it, So I'll never have to go in there for at least another 70,000miles. The service and belt change took around 18 hours to do. Full details of this can be found under thread "Changed the timing belt" and also "servicing a LS400 MKII costs". My best tip for the LS400 is that when you do a major service or timing belt, DO ALL THE OTHER BITS ASWELL. It will save a lot of pounds in labour later and avoid problems. Parts for a full major service & belt change should cost around £300 to £500 on the parts. All depends on your supplier.
  12. They are LED lights not blubs, So are clear until lit. Hope that helps.
  13. Yes I sent six pics to the guy selling the lights showing fitment from start to finish. He might list them on his ebay ad. I'm unable to list pictures on this site, But if you PM me your email I'll send two pics for you to list for me, If you can that is.
  14. Had same problem Cd changer with mine when I bought it and all the other common faults. have done them all now. Main problem was damp inside the unit. The boot was full of water. Cleaned the rubbers around the boot, Cleaned and dried out the boot/Mat cover and started working OK. The Err you get is when you try and play some cds in it. Mine doesn't play CDRW's in any form and only some types of CDR's. Also noticed it doesn't like certain CD's from years ago with a lot of colour on them on the one side. Haven't come accross the pipe issue yet.
  15. Used to be a black cab owner/driver and know of quite a few with very high miles on them. My last cab got to 370,000miles, But you could disable the milage with a flick of a switch, So was a lot more than was showing. Did know of a metro cab doing 980,000miles here in Swansea in just over eight or nine years. It was out 24/7 with four drivers. It had five engines over it's life. Also my old work place had a merc E320 which had 640.000miles going form Cardiff to London and then up north many times a day driving the DM around the place for Goverment meetings. That took about 10 years to do. Biggest Lexus mileage I've seen is 270,000miles on a LS400 N plate 1996.
  16. I talked to the guy earlier last week about the fitment and bought a set. After they fitted and worked OK I told him that a lot of people have been looking for these and advised him they also fit the LS400 and should try listing that way for a while. Looks like it worked as someone has know found them at first listing straight away. I'm going to email some pics of them fitted on the weekend to my silver car to show how they look which he could use on his listing.
  17. 1) There's one on ebay at moment getting broken 2) NO 3) Look a further down the thread page. Title "straight answer needed on side indicators" This also covers the back ones aswell. 4) Ebay US are quite cheap(£140) for four new shocks plus postage. 5) Yes. You would be aware that most of LS400 owners get aftermarket parts from the US ebay as cheaper and only take about 5 - 10 working days to get here. You can get the parts here but are dearer. All depends how much of a rush you are in getting them. The thread "LS400 service costs for MKII" should show you prices I paied last month in the UK & US for my car.
  18. Had some LED side clear indicators off an ebay seller which fitted with no problems. YOU'LL ENJOY THIS LILTTE STORY. Man walks(me) into a Toyota dealer. Staff Can I help you. Me Yes I would like some clear indicators for my LS400. Staff Sorry we don't do Lexus parts. Me I asked again and stated they are the same as the Landcrusier. Staff Sorry we don't do Lexus. These two lines went on for about 6 replies. Me Now a little angry stated it's a pair of Landcrusier ones I want. Staff Have you got the number plate or chassis number(Knowing I don't own one) He smiles. Me No I drive a Lexus. Staff Sorry I can't help you. I then looked out the window and could see a Landcrusier. Went back to counter. Me I would like some clear indicators for a Landcruiser with the following number plate. Staff Found them on the machine and stated he could not offer a refund in didn't fit. Me Fine just order them(knowing they been stated to fit, the prick). Two days later phone call. the parts are in. Me I've come to collect the indicators. Staff here they are a set of orange ones. Me But I ordered clear ones. Staff I took the number of the screen. Me I'm not buying orange ones I've already got and walked out. THE MORALE OF THE STORY IS Never take a number plate of a Lancruiser for the part I wanted which already had aftermarket clear side indicators fitted. I felt like a ***** that unknown to me that the landcruiser have had it's indicators changed and the staff ordered the factory standard ones off the screen. I have now found a supplier off ebay that does them Ebay seller name is aceparts.com They were £17 to the UK. i used the standard rubbers as they were a little thicker than the ones supplied. Advert name was TOYOTA LANDCRUISER HDJ80 FJ100 SIDE REPEATERS LED
  19. Are you sure that the fluid is getting past the pump spindle?? I have repaired two LS400's a 92 & 93 in the past where both looked like the seals had gone, in fact it was a 2p 'O' ring that goes on the spigot of the removable fluid container that sits on top of the pump. On both occasions they had gone hard and flattened off, when replaced no more leaks. Make sure it is the pump before you buy one they are an arm and a leg, and you won't know if it wasn't because it will obviously come with a new 'O' ring in it. Hopes this helps you with a cheap fix. Chris Vince My 1993 LS400 also needed the little o ring. Changed the o ring and also put a little bit of black silicone sealent(In between the circ clip and plug) to help in stopping any leaks every coming back.
  20. Who put the tyre on??? Some 16 year old know it all. I hate them, I have one working in my garage. You've got to check everything they do.
  21. I think I have the answers. The side markers are the Toyota Landcruisers 90-98. Which is mentioned on a thread fron US as a stragiht fit with no problems. I'll find out at the weekend when I get a pair from the 4x4 centre. The rear clear lights fit from the US on the outside of the UK spec, But not the inner boot lid. These clear lights fit the celisor model no problem. Just a thought but does the celsior boot have the same fittings/hinges/size as the UK LS400 model. I say this as If I fit a celsior boot to my LS400 I would then be able to fit the US style clear lights to it. Yes or no, What do you think.
  22. Thanks for the reply. But someone must have clear side winkers??? What ones did you get and do they fit smack on. Please need the right answer. Also looked at the land rover side clear indications which are big and square. Do they fit??
  23. Have a search through the threads and no one ahs a straght answer. What clear side lights are LS400 MKII onwers using. The ones by the doors not the front bumper(Done them). Some people say celica 89> ==Please which celica? This was the name for the early supra. Others say MR2 MKI == Had a look and don't look like they fit. Some say Landcrusier, But don't mention what year and model etc. So please can you let me know which ones fit and where you got them from. Ebay seller name etc. Also can anybody confirm that the rear clear lights from US fit UK models. Did see a thread on saying they don't and then reading that someone has fitted them. Correct answer please. Fit or not???? There are two types for sale on Ebay US. Fully clear and just the centre clear, Any difference in fitting? Thanks Baz.
  24. A little further down there's a tread for servcing a MKII 1993 model. That will show you the supplier, maker and price. If you've got time and no rush for two weeks, I would buy all my parts from Ebay US as they are miles cheaper then UK prices. Look for the service style pack items, That sell two or three items in one go. Example is that a seller does an ingnition service kit which includes the rotors, distr, leads and plugs all for £100 UK pounds. I didn't find a cheaper water pump than the UK supplied one. That was the only item which was cheaper in the UK than the US. Hope that helps.
