  1. Finally worked out whats wrong with steve's car. It's one of two things. The list of faults is for the range rover and not the lexus or someone has told him that the ls430 is a 4x4 and the range rover is a crusing car and has been drving them the wrong way around. My option for the poll is choice four. I'll fix it for him in my garage.
  2. My LS400 takes five six footers and all of us arn't thin, Me being 19 stone and the smallest being 15stone from Wales to Southampton easily enough. Tne guy in the middle of the rear moans a little, But we just stop once on the way and he's fine after that. 3 hour drive. Anyone smalller should be fine.
  3. I spent a long time looking for a "good one" Easily don't know what to look for then. I can't see these problems all happing in just a few months unless the car had been flooded or repaired badly after a crash. Did you do a hpi check on it or have a warranty on it from the garage? If no, then enough said. The cars are bullet proof all years. If you have that much budget, Then you need only to spend around £9,000 for a LS430, But my choice would be the later LS400 on a 1998 plate on with premium pack and sat nav screen. A lot cheaper than the ls430's and you'll still have a few quid left over for a rainy day. If you're stuck on which one to go for then PM me and I'll email you my choices from around the UK for you to go and look at.
  4. What model and year car do you have? Different options for different years.
  5. You need 245/35/18 with that alloy to get to as near as dam it to the rolling radius of the old alloys. Don't put a thinner tyre on, As you'll end up kerbing the alloys instead of the tyre wall. Wider tyres saves the alloys from kerbing which I see some many times at shows where people save about £30 for slightly thinner tyres and then end up refurbing them at a greater cost to bring them back to top condition and all becuase they try and save £30 after spending hundreds on new alloys.
  6. Hey Mat I might have something that goes with the brown interior if you would want it. I have one gold coloured aluminum shift gate cover that replaces the blacks part around the gear stick with a new shinny one. £13 with postage(Bargain as it cost me £22 with shipping) if you want it. Can send you pics by email if you wanted to see it fitted. Not many around with this item on. Only see two of them in UK. One on my car and one in my hand. You need 35 height tyres for your car and may have to roll out the arches. How's wide your rear alloys? Also can get some door sills covers with the Lexus logo on them etched on chrome plates.
  7. Firstly what's the spec of the alloys? You should have the following size. 18 x 7.5 to 9.5 is the max with an offset of +35 to +40mm for even tyre wear. Tyres should be around 235 - 265 with a height of 35 to 40mm. With a lowered car then I would put on some 18x8(35mm offset) fitted with 245/35/18 tyres. If you still have problem rubbing on the arches you can buy a sard body arch roller which will curve up the edge on the inside away form the tyres. They are about £60 I think for the roller. A body shop may also have a machine to do the thing.
  8. 8 out of 10 for me for this. 1) Get the alloys sprayed in gold same as the paint work or change them to a nice chrome or silver set to go with the gold colour. 2) Get a chrome grill kit and some clear side indicators. I have an eye for details. This should look a lot better. Also what's happened to the inside? Any pics? My car is going through same process, but just need a few more parts to go on to make it complete. I've done all the electrics and mechnics and fitted some after market parts, But not quite ready for this website yet. Will be ready for Japfeast in May for the show.
  9. Does this include the Mk4 (1998 - 2000)? They were just listing the years 1990 to 1994. Reason is demand. Older LS's have wear and tear on the bushes and now is the time they start to go. Newer models still have good bushes, Hence no real demand from people to force the manufacturer to make a range for that year. In time a set will come out, But in about three or four years when the bushes start to go. Good news is that some bushes might be the same on all models.
  10. I've done a list of poly bush makers i the suspension part. But for the record you can get rear trailing poly bushes from superflex for around £32 delivered. Super pro in Somerset are currently making a full poly bush set for the LS400 which will be available soon, Hopefully JAN 08 or FEB 08.
  11. If you haven't got the garage bush remover tool, Then it's the plain old universal method. Large lump hammer, Chesil. Smack out the old centre rubber. you will be left with just the metal housing stuck inside. The hit and try and fold in the metal around the edge and hit along the inside of the metal shim until you win. You'll have a arm like arnie at the end. Quick answer = Brute force!
  12. Are the LOC having a section club stand at this meet? If so then let us know. I know they do the JAE, But thats a big treck for the south brits of the world. I'm up for it. 1) Bazgtr. 2)
  13. Here's a list of poly bushes makers I found out the net. Some do various other cars and models but new parts are added all the time to these sites. Hopefully this will aid you in your search. If I've missed one then feel free to add their name to the list. superflex.co.uk polyurethanebushes.com Powerflex.com autobush.com polybush.co.uk bonaprene.co.uk powerflex.co.uk superpro.com daizensporttuning.com driftworks.com energysuspension.com prothane.com whiteline.com
  14. Easy answer. My R34 GT 2.5, 4 door. Super everyday car and rare in 4 door version. Mine was the seventh in the country, But there will be a big inflex next year as car version no longer needs the SVA on it. Great for drifting aswell with the long wheel base and has Nissan realiablitly and cheap service parts for it. Not as nice as the LS400 though on comfort and noise, but the R34 was quicker and can tuned quite easily. The R34 is living in London area now.
  15. PM sent. Sounds like the mechansim is dried up and stuck. WD40 all the way.
  16. The front demister is fine, if you're wiping the inside I would check a few things. 1) Have the car been standing for a while before you've owned it? If so maybe just damp in the floor that needs proper drying out. Heaters on full with rewindow open a little to let out the warm moist air. Do that for a few days and should dry them up. 2) Do you have a leek around the top of the windscreen or sunroof seal? 3) Is the front button working correctly or have you set the temp and blower speed correctly. Myself I use HIGH, FRONT BUTTON ON & 30%, Normally does the trick in a few hundred yards. As for the rear, Go faster and it just blows off. All in all, If thats all thats wrong with the car then you'll find a lot more cars with the same problems.
  17. A few things to do to stop water coming in. Firstly there is a small plug under the plastic cover. There's one each side about the size of 1p coin. I used them to release the water from the sides as you state you have. Next thing is to get the rubber seal off all the way around the boot and clean, Removing any moss or dirt or sludge etc from the rubber. I spray the rubber with some silicone spray to helkp repal any water that meets it. Check there are no rips or holes on the rubber, If so replace with new seal. After removing the rubber seal clean the bidytwork around the boot and use some good polish to help water run away. Also check there are no blockages around the back of the bonnet wear the hinges are. The bit you're looking for is like a seal of overlap of bodywork.(You'll know where once you lift the rubber). Thats where you get a blockage then forces water into the boot. one other thing to check is the aerial connection to the bodywork. Is the seal OK around the base. This should stop the water in problems you have.
  18. Stop worring. It's the little rubber O-ring that has know turned a little square on the edges and under the pressure have started to leak out. If you've got the right tool you can get the screw out without taking anything else off the car to get at it. It shouldn't take longer than about 30 to 40 minutes to do. There's pictures and manuals on how to do most things to a LS400 on the website http://www.lexls.com/ If you get stuck just come back and ask, As being a mechanic and having the lexus factory manuals in my hand.
  19. I've always found that the 1990 to 1992 MKI's lurch forward a lot more than the MKII 1992-1994. I've put a few together on the same bit of road and always the MKI's goes forward faster, A little to fast for me though while sitting behind someone at the lights(Whoops, sorry).
  20. You can also watch it on TV on demand for free, As I watched it tonight.

  22. What's wrong with your power steering pump?? Is it just leaking or is it shot. There's quite a few breaking on ebay and quite cheap enough to buy used. Just have the o0ring changed before refitting to your car to be safe before puttung under bar pressure once in. Quite easy enough to change.

Got an agreement from the supplier that they will all cost £100 each or £180 a pair and a saving of £20 on the postage to me and then to you as a combined item. The models covered are listed below. UCF10 1990 -1992 & UCF11 1992 - 1994 are same fitment front and back. Pictures above on the thread Please note that the fronts on a UCF20-21 are slightly differnent and change over on 1998 model. Please send email to receive a picture of it fitted to the engine to confirm that it matches what you have under the bonnet. UCF20-21 1994 - 1998 Front Strut brace. UCF20-21 1998 - 2000 Front Strut Brace. This brace is a CUSCO make, So you're getting a top Japanese tuning brand. UCF20-21 1994 - 2000 Rear strut brace are listing as the same. 24. Finally fitted and tested today with the front strut brace fitted. Finally had my strut brace delivered and took 36hours to deliver from Japan to UK by fedex. Total cost was £100 with all postage and taxes etc. The strut brace fitted with no problems and was well worth the week long wait for it to arrive. THE TEST DRIVE. Fitted in about 5 mins by just undoing the top 13mm 6 strut bolts, Fit the brace and reattach the bolts. Went for a spin and found the car handled much much better than standard. Most of the body roll had gone on cornering and you stayed in your seat while checking it through a roundabout or tight corner. Without the rear brace on and just the front you can get a bit of drift from the LS while hard cornering, Which was fun being so big(hehe). Ride comfort was not lost and the steering feels stifer at the front which help when going along a motorway at high speed. You tended not to lane drift as much in the wind with the braces fitted. My tip is to go for both braces as it transforms the car around corners without the bodyroll and you can feel the difference straight away. It seems to allow the car to turn in quicker with them fitted and make the corner seem smaller. If you've got an early LS400 then get the braces, It will transform your cars handling completely. The price is £100 each or £180 for both delivered thorugh myself or arrange a supplier yourself. Any questions feel free to ask.
