  1. The light, Does it come on after you press the brake pedal after start up or is it on straight away from turning the key? Have you had your brakes changed recently?? The sensors on the brake pads are broken. Around £50 for new sensor or just join the wires together.
  2. Already covered this in the resurrected "lowering springs" thread. NO! NO! NO! Had to bring back an old thread because you live in the past you old dog. Just sell them to me as you'll never get to fit them and I can fit them next week as got two days to do them. You take so long fitting them that you're the only guy I know who has a garage dust cover that fits over the roof instead of a car dust cover. :D May Saturday 17th japfeast??? GTR or LS. What you going to take??? Convoy baby.
  3. Easy fix to do. I take it you are on about the backlighting on the main centre control panel. There's a full diagrams and how to change the blubs on the link below. You just want to replace the blown ones. http://www.lexls.com/tutorials/lighting/ Just select what you want to change and view. Job done.
  4. I state this many times with a V8 and the LS versions. Change the plugs, leads, rotor arms and distrubitor caps and that makes a whole world of difference to the car. These items should be around £100-£150 all in. You'll have to fit them yourself which is not too hard. Loads of online information on how to do it. Doing this way first will save you pounds in the long run in trying to find a miss on the car or another problem which might be there. Get rid of the obivious first.
  5. I like it, But how long would that live on my car before it goes outside my house? Answer = seconds. Anyway I have done the rear of the LS last week with new badges on the boot etc and funds going towards some clear rear lights. Mod funds are going on my GTR for the next few weeks so bling will have to wait. Well you should move back to a more civilised place where the people are normal :winky: So you're keeping the Gtr now?? Good, but it's still not as fast as mine :P Probably by the time you read this it'll be up for sale again tho. You change your mind more than my mrs when she's looking at shoes! Ade N1's???? Pointless in the box, Just sell them to me.
  6. Looked at pictures, They are rubbish with a rubbish driver. He's fat and old. :winky: SPRINGS? Is that the only mod you can thnk of for yor car? I can't believe you never asked me for the springs etc for the LS400's as I know everything. I'm let down in you not asking after all the times in the past. P.s. to your answer to your other thread. Gtr faster than mine eeerrrrr not any more as spent few pounds on her recently and yours is a dust catcher with a flat battery. :winky:
  7. Is the door sticking out allaround or just at the front? If you get in the car and drive can you hold hear the wing mirror and pull it in a little bit and the wind nosie stops?
  8. When was your last time you changed the following? Leads, Plugs, Rotor arms, Distubitor caps. These simple changes will make a big difference on a LS400 its hard to believe. Most revs and any misses will be removed just by doing these simple service parts. Get the parts from the US as miles cheaper. You're looking at around £120 - £150 for all itmes from the US and will be here in within seven days.
  9. Do me a quick favour. Park on the flat somewhere quite like a trading estate etc with the eninge at normal temp. Now put the car into N and put your hand on the gear stick very lightly. What you are looking for is a smooth feel through the stick and not any small miss that can be felt though the stick and you might be able to hear the revs drop aswell at the time. The miss might very very small, but you should be able to spot it. try this for a minute and let me know if it idles super smoooth with no lillte bumps through the gear stick. If smooth then you have no miss to find and you can confirm that your LS400 coils, lead, plugs and rotor arms/caps are working fine. I had a miss and changed the above to fully remove any miss. The car has not missed a beat since. Try this first and let me know. What is your current fault code today?
  10. I like it, But how long would that live on my car before it goes outside my house? Answer = seconds. Anyway I have done the rear of the LS last week with new badges on the boot etc and funds going towards some clear rear lights. Mod funds are going on my GTR for the next few weeks so bling will have to wait.
  11. If you can get the arm off you want and measure the item in there you can then foind a universal one from the main UK suppliers. They would be able to match it up with another of a different car. Like for example I know the MK3 supra has bushes the same as the LS400's run in certain places. You could start searching what arms are being used on that model of lexus. I would say maybe a GS300, Toyota Hi lux or the new IS300's. You could email them all to see if any are in progress for the future. Get the size and see if they can match them up.
  12. I though you might still find some fault being from Germany(wink). If you want to transform the handling then get some strut braces front and rear as that makes the body roll drop about 80%.
  13. Just need a chrome grill since the calipers are done. Have been looking at a few things left for my car, But funds tight until the summer as lost my court case and the four figure fine/costs put a hold on the exhust, alloys and rear clear lights for the time being and also need to sort out my GTR with some bigger turbos for the summer. Are you going to the Japfast meet in a couple of months on the lexus stand? Also just put up a thread about a old LS400 top gear test drive which will make you smile more knowing you own one.
  14. I don't know if this has already been listed, But here it is. Here's a link to one of the first proper road test from Top Gear that looks at the new LS400 and compares them to the competition at the time. Your Tube link BMW 735i vs Lexus LS400 vs Mercedes 420 SE vs Jaguar 4.0 Sov http://youtube.com/watch?v=r-B2SJzUTLk Must say I enjoyed this seven minutes and just seeing some of the old presenters brought a tear to my eye and reminded me how good top gear reports were back in the day when they fully covered the car and whats in it etc. NOT LIKE tHE NEW TOP GEAR ROAD TESTING FORMAT. Which is really :tsktsk: . Best bit was the water balance test on the engine. I wonder how many of us will do the same test to see if you're engine is OK after all these years at 6,000rpm? I'm trying mine in the morning to see if it passes. ENJOY fellow owners.
  15. Would add two things to the car. A) Chrome grill B) Paint the calipers to bling though those new alloys.
  16. Firstly look in the suspension threads for my thread on poly bushes. Have a look at priracing(superpro stockist) for pictures and part number for LS400 bushes. You can also right them. The ones you want I think www.daizensporttuning.com (USA) do them for your year.
  17. Nice car, ut would change a few things about it. I'd get some clear corner indicators and side indicators. Remove the steering wheel cover as doesn't match the interior car colour. Remove anything hanging from the rear view mirror and also remove the air fresheners in the air vents as they always make the interior look tac. There's quite few you can buy that are out of sight and makes the dash look much cleaner. Hey it's your car, But that's my thoughts.
  18. As being well into imports which include GTR's, GTiR's, S15, MR, EVO 4's, Evo 5's, Supras, Civic's and some starlet gt's here's my five cents worth. STI. Positives Good handling Good everyday car for fast road. Negatives. High insurance Attracts hoodies like a bear to a honeypot Image problem Traffic cops love pulling them Everybody seems to have one while driving. Bottom end is a common fault on modified ones(Three gone on me last year, Have stopped selling them). Uses petrol like water LS400. Positives Ride quailty. Comfort & toys. Realiable. No image problem other than old mans car. Parts easy to get and cheaper than sti parts from the US. Very helpful ownersclub. Insurance not to bad. Police and hoddies normally leave alone. Petrol pretty good for a 4.0 V8. 20mpg plus compared to a modified sti doing around 14mpg on full boost. Great V8 sound out of the exhaust. Negatives People think they are a old mans car, Handling is nowhere near as a sti. Quick fix is to get a set of strut braces which transform the body roll on these cars. Speed is not it's best being two tons. Servicing costs at main dealer, Simple answer find a specialist or do it yourself easy enough. Timing belt and water pump are a nightmare to do, But once done will go for another 40K to 80K easily. Summary If you want to go fast with all the hassle that goes with it, Then keep the STI, If you want comfort without the hassle of police and hoddies and without wondering when it's going to breakdown then get an LS400. One other note is if you get a LS400, Go for one with the sat nav fitted which came out late 1998 model. My own choice is to have two main cars which one for a trip out with friends I take the LS and then take my GTR for when I want to have a blow out and get some attention for the fuzz and hoddies.
  19. Haven't had your email so will list the items in order and you can print out this page. SUNROOF REMOVEL. 1) Disconnect battery. 2) Remove map light(Three screws and the light & disconnect the connector) 3) Remove the Front pillar garnish. a) Rear seat cushion, Rear inner seat belt and the back. B) Roof side inner garnish. c) Centre visor amd inner rear view mirror. d) Holders and front roof head lining. 4) Remove sliding roof garnishes(12 clips). a) use a screwdriver to remove four sliding roof garnishes. B) Remove roof headlining. 5) Remove sliding roof glass a) Remove sliding six nuts and shims(Make sure you get the six shims) B) Pull the glass upward to remove it. I think you have the glass from a used unit so reverse of what you've just did. If you want to fully remove unit then let me know, But a lot of more work. If after refitting the window has any alignment problem then let me know and I'll tell you how to do it. Send me your email for picture of the list with some pics etc.
  20. Please don't be offended ( if you are familiar with electronics very sorry) but did you fit them the correct way round as Electrolytic capacitors are polarised i.e they have a negative and a positive leg and they do not like being reversed. Also did you get the right values on the resistors/capacitors? Just checking. Also what year car is your LS?
  21. Do you still need a run down on how to replace the glass? If so the PM your email and I'll send you a list on how to do it.
  22. Open the bonnet and have a look at the headlights, Just behind the lights will be phillips style screw which allows you to adjust the headlight beam manully. This works for the series one and two and then you can fine tune it off the dashboard. Also have a good llok behind the headlight in case of bad repair from a previuos crash. The front cross member maybe smashed in, hence why the lights face down. I've seen quite a few sports car with one light higher than the other on the MOT due to a little dump on the corner and having a rubbish repair. Also check that the light blubs are sitting in the holders correctly.
  23. A) Superpro in somerset will have the two bushes for your car. B) Interiors you can get off ebay with someone breaking them. C) The sub woofer you can get from Jayma Parts 0844 884 5995 www.jayma.co.uk, They are breaking a LS, But do charge a bit for the postage(£12 the norm), But parts are quite cheap from them. I would have another look at the rear sub woofer. Is the unit fully working, IE sound coming out of it or just a buzz with no sound? If so have a look at my thread about rear sub wookfer not working. I thought it was broke and found out it was something else. The rear sub has two radio fuses too check and the rear little amp in boot. Could be wet through damp if car haven't been used or aired for a while.
  24. Not fitted because of the price for a set, I asked. Sitting down, The price is around £10K to £12K here in the UK.
  25. Here's a list of product numbers which are coming up for sale from either super pro direct or you can buy them from Pri racing. I haven't the prices yet, But will update after I order them.
