  1. Ordered a pair black coloured windscreen washers (the fan jet/spray type, not the 3 nozzle) for the is200, the part number i have on order is :- NOZZLE, WASHER - L85381-53050-C0 Can anyone confirm it's the right part as Toyota will have to order the part and it's 25% handling charge on returns if i got it wrong? I probably have 2 days to cancel before it arrives, it if it's not the correct part. DJ wozza has these in silver. Cheers!
  2. Is this the typical is300 driver? lol Standard is200/300 against a sup'ed up VW golf....who will win? Is200/300 ofcourse, just like in real life lol
  3. Also slick50 got sued back in '80s or '90s anyway for false advertising for their product lol.
  4. Thanks for that (sorry for hi-jacking the thread Garath) Stevie and parthiban for clearing it up because i want to be certain that i am locking the car up properly overnight and am sure every one of us do! The reason why i ask about using the key in the actual key slot is because there was one time that my keyflob wouldn't unlock the car and from experience i knew the alarm would go off so if i'd tried unlock the car manually using the key. I didn't want the alarm going off and everyone thinks im stealing the car lol. In the end i ended up calling a m8 for a lift and back again with a second key and found the first key worked again straight away and even to this day a year later (a long time ago) and it's still working?!!? I had tried the keyflob in all direction of the car, from a distance and close up, but it would not work, So it's a strange one. So when you say the alarm will not go off if you use the key manually in the keyslot to lock the doors in the first place, which makes sense (will try this out). But now have a new question. If you lock the car using the keyslot what is the equivalent in terms of the keyflob presses, as it sound like 2 presses as it would lock the car, but no indicator flashes. So from this, if i had someone or a pet dog etc in the car it' best to lock the car using the keyslot so the interior alarm would not be activated, but then it will also stop the person from getting out if they wanted to? It's just a question i know some lexus owners would like to know as they may have a small child or have pet dogs in the car. myself personally i don't lock the car up at all if i have someone in the car (no point) and i would not let a dog wild in my parked car lol. The last time i had an animal in the car was when i had to take the cat to the vet and it somehow got out of it's cage (it did not like being in a cage lol).
  5. Thats a really useful research guide. Nice one! So a lexus with an induction kit in theory would have slightly higher intake of fuel than a lexus with stock intake?
  6. Aye, send me the box of quality street. I'll eat them all for you and send you back the wrappers? deal or no deal? lol
  7. I've gave way for a lexus is200 driver before and didn't know it was a lady and she blew me a kiss, how my heart melted (this happened just before a van driver chucked a finished cig while driving past me, not intentionally at me but just being irresponsible with finished fag ends). Just today i let a car out and i didn't know it was a lexus, infact it was a GS300, only noticed it when i saw the back of it and it was in mint condition too. I always assume if a lexus has mods or is really clean then they are members of the forum lol. I always give way to other lexus drivers especially is200's lol. I know theres 2 others in my town (no mods on them though and is always dirty!). I also see the same 50 cars going to work every morning and going back home lol. You can spot me a mile away as i have a silver lexus with carbon fibre hood, white alloys and red calipers, not many people like these colour clashing combinations lol
  8. Just went out to test it... One press - indicators flash once and locking sound. Two presses - No indicator flash with locking sound. Third press - does the same as two presses.
  9. You buy a white one and you send off for a free sample set of filters at HERE and pick the filter colour you want from the 250 colours and put the selected filter over the LED.
  10. Cheers for the info, most engines must take 1 litres as thats the most common amount sold on ebay. damn now i have to get twice as much lol
  11. Which reminds me...how comes they can sell a pair of lexus calipers for £199 on ebay (new)? i had to pay something like £160 each and they were also dark metal colour and not shiney likes the ones on ebay.
  12. Wow, you must have a lady that loves doing her makeup in a moving car LOL. I think you should cello tape some of the xmas cracker strips (the strip that does the bang when it gets pulled) into the visor, so when your passenger pulls the visor down it gives them a fright of their life! lol
  13. I've seen these kind of posts before, but before i knew about it i always thought that the first press of the lock on the key is locking door, with no alarm. A second press of the key is deadlock also with secruity alarm. So i've always believed that second lock is best, but apparantely not! After reading a few posts about it and scratching my head a bit i think my 2001 lexus is the otherway round, one press to lock it and set alarm, second press locks door and disables alarm. Don't tell me theres also a third press of the key LOL. One fact i've never worked out is how to open the lexus door using the key without the alarm going off! Infact i want to get the facts right now by asking the relevent question as simple as possible :- I have a 2001 lexus is200 (It's "platinium ice" incase different coloured lexus have different locking systems lol) so...rob (yes you, you know you want to anwser these lol!) 1) What happens when i press lock button once? 2) What happens when i press lock button the second time? 3) What happens when i press the lock button for the third time? 4) What is deadlock? 5) How to open my lexus drivers door using the actual key in the lock without the alarm going off? I will be able to sleep when the above questions are answered lol
  14. I've got that gear change problem, mostly between 1st and 2nd. It's more of an annoyance then a problem. I think maybe the gearbox oil i have is more suitable for summer then winter and also i don't think it's been changed! I will try a 75w90 in my gear box to see if it will improve anything, not sure which brand, but probably Castrol, redline or mobil, but im sure they will all meet the spec. Also you sure its good for the gear box in the long term? I've read that additives do more damage in the long run because it breaks down the oil you have in the gearbox over time. Worth reading this HERE. Same for additives you put in the petrol to clean out the engine (redix or something, the name escapes me at the moment). But yes i do want to get smoother gear change, well as smooth as i can get it as i know the is200 hasn't got the smoothest manuel gearbox by far but at least the gear stick doesn't wave side to side about 10cm whens it's in gear like my old honda LOL. What i really want to know is how much gearbox oil does the is200 manuel gearbox take?
  15. Excellent, looking forward to seeing it!
  16. I had that when i had a seized front caliper. Steering wheel would wobbly like crazy between 40-50, but goes away when above and below them speeds. The seized caliper also caused the front disc to warp which is main contrubution to the wobbly steering wheel. Worth checking if the calipers are hot after a 10 minute drive. But becareful the caliper can get very very hot if its seized. If everything is fine, then get WIM to check again for balance.
  17. I think instead of the ":00" it should have text saying "Reset" instead. Yeah put me down for one, depending on price.
  18. Does the noise get louder when passing a parked car, like the noise is being reflected from parked cars? Cos it could be something to do with pads, worn disc?
  19. Don't use Elite Car Refinishing, he's just had a bad experience from them and not very happy with their work. HERE
  20. Yeah, that STi spoiler is over kill and doesn't look like it's been painted, you sure it's not a hoax lol? Definately sticking to something low level, don't want to be on the outlook for low level bridges incase it caught the spoiler lol. I think cos the is200 has such as small backside that any large spoiler will look even bigger once it's on the car.
  21. Been looking for a spoiler for ages and don't really like any that are designed for the is200. I do like the low tte spoiler with the brake light, but i would prefer a carbon one. So just wondered if anyone has a spoiler fitted to their is200 that wasn't specifically designed for it. I got my eyes on the celica one :- HERE But don't want to blow £300+ just to find out it doesn't fit or i don't actually like it in real life. lol. I know someone on here has a suburu or an evo one fitted to their is200. Images would be a great help if you can show me how it looks on here! Cheers.
  22. Yeah m8, i wouldn't bother with them xenon bulbs if you're going to get HIDs later on. I had xenons before i changed over to HIDs. I didn't intend to get HIDs cos i didn't understand what it was and thought it required a technician to fit them and also HIDs were quite expensive back then. The xenons are nowhere near as bright as HIDs and as mentioned the side lights are poo and it will fail MOT cos it's blue in colour just so you know lol.
  23. Been using it for the last 6 months. Unbranded it, and updated to the latest updates. Installed all sorts so i can install programs without any signed certificates. Depending if you like to customise ur phone, im using a 8gig memory card almost completely filled with youtube videos and divX videos, mp3s and 100s of lexus images lol. I had a Sony Erricson w810 i think it was and only reason why i changed is cos i needed a better camera phone and the n95 at the time had a very good 5 meg pixel phone. I was very suprised how good the camera and video recorder is for a phone. Very good phone, a tad slow, but i don't have an issue with that. think i got mine for £110 on ebay. There are infinate programs and themes you can install on it once you have hacked it, my fav is the stepmonitor...tells you how many steps i've done, keeps a record for everyday on a graph and how much calories i have burnt LOL. Im just waiting for someone to bring out a OBDII reader software for it, so i can chuck away my asus eeepc which has lower memory space than my N95 lol
  24. Cheers for that, some very good advice there, especially about the efficiency of the shocks. I'll be better off with coilovers then. Hope i can get the money together for the coilovers and arbs b4 summer! Cheers!
  25. The mpg reading really only works once you're on the motorway and in 6th gear, other then that it will just jump all over the show and not worth reading. If they said its been serviced then ask them what they did (or look at the service sheet), if it's had an oil change then you can always check the dipstick oil colour, the oil colour should be like amber clean colour, if it's black than it's not recently been changed. Basically check the parts that are said have been changed are new e.g air filters, oil filter etc. Since you have no bootliner it's worth while pouring water from a bucket onto the back of the (with the bootlid closed ofcourse!) car to see if water leaks into the boot area from the outside, as a few lexus suffer from this and you end up having water build up in the boot/sparewheel area. Also get the geomentry done by WIM (if it hasn't already), otherwise you will find out you will need to change tyres every 10k miles with badly worn inner tyres. In fact do a full lock to check the tyre yourself to see if there are any signs of uneven tyre wear e.g does it seem like the tread is unevenly worn. Search the forum for more details about WIM in this. Hope this hasn't scared you off lol
