  1. Going to get either coils or springs (prefer springs as it's cheaper route so i have cash left over for body kit spraying and fitting). But my question is, my cars done 80k+ miles now and i've read that the shocks may not be in a good condition to take lowering springs due to age. I'm not looking at lowering any more than 30mm-35mm (front and rear), keeping the same ride comfort and i don't do track days. So coils seem a bit pointless, but if i have to end up getting new shocks all round, i will probably end up forking out as much as buying coilovers anyway. Any advise?
  2. I too love cleaning my car (as many of you here do im sure), but what i dread is knowing without doubt new sctarches will be found. The one i have always been dreading is people who have rings or have keys in their hands when they go to open the door. I always make sure i open the door for the person who i know will have rings etc in their hands. My gran has rings and walking stick, so i always open the door for her (it's also out of courtesy ofcourse). But a while ago, when taking my gran and mum out, i opened the door for my dear granny (she likes to sit in the front passenger seat lol) and to my right i heard a bunch of keys being hit against the panel. I looked over and saw that my mum had keys in the same hand as the one she used to open the door. "Aaarrgghh" is the sound inside my head. Now theres a nice scratch on the door handle. I could probably polish it though, so not really a biggy. I find family members are the worst for that kind of things, right next to "parking in supermarkets", which i will never do again, and if really had to i would park as far away from the supermarket as possible and not during busy hrs (e.g 8pm onwards). I've collect a nice 11cm dent on my rear nearside passenger door (with deep scratch to door trim to match) and one hit at the front which was hard it's chipped the paint and i can see the body work underneath the paint!
  3. Cheers for the replies. Ok, so 75w90 is the spec of oil im looking for. I see on ebay they mostly only sell it in 1 litre, so im assuming that the 1 litre is enough for the is200 gear box? Also once again i see the semi-synthetic and fully synthetic labels which one should i go for as i have a manuel gear box and has done 80k miles?
  4. Hi ppl, Got a service comming up soon and im starting to buy bits and bobs for my is200 (01) as i like to choose/know whats best for my car. Can anybody suggest a decent transmission oil and how much i would need? I've noticed recently that my gears are getting more and more rough (not sure when the tranmission was last changed or when it's suppose to, or maybe its winter), so this time i want to make sure it gets changed to something decent so it may cure the gear problem. Cheers
  5. Theres a lexus in the film "The women". Don't ask, was not my choice of film that night at the cinema, but she wanted to watch it...arrgg and i didn't even get any nookie that night. Also is200 (or 300) in the music video Mylo - In My Arms... Screenies It's nice to see the driver is paying attention to the road.
  6. Also don't forget there are different types...the normal 3 jets of water per jet washer type, single fan spray of water type and im sure theres another version which escapes me at the moment. Im also after a set of fan spray type in black as the one ive got at the moment (3 jets) keeps getting blocked and end up only one working lol
  7. Cheers for the upload aido. Its not bad, but you will need the wheel arches to match the bumper. Also the grass needs weeding out.
  8. I have this problem at my local petrol station, if i press the trigger more than 50-60% of the way it cuts off and within £30 worth of petrol i end up cutting off around 20 times lol...luckly like mentioned above a new petrol station nr where i work that i use hasn't got this problem...i can press the trigger all the way, now i can spend my money quicker! lol
  9. Anyone actually got this bumper on their car? Image please!
  10. I promised myself never to do anything to my car during winter..so far ive only installed some HIDs. Roll on summer so i can get all the stuff in my sig installed lol.
  11. Ah, well spotted there Baller lol. I just read it as £100 delivery lol.
  12. Im sure there was a white one of them on ebay not long ago from someone in this forum.
  13. They just said they can't, from what i can remember..no reason given sort of thing. I mean, I gave them my car and thought i could collect it at the end of the day, but ended up having no car to go home with. Luckly i got a lift from my friend (gave him petrol money for his troubles), but he had to get up extra 2 hrs to drive to my house and to my work place. I told them i don't live locally, but they just wouldn't give me a courtsey car. But this wasn't the main reason why i wouldn't go back..its cos they said the car was serviced before i purchased it, but yet the tire was on wrong and the fact they could not fullfill requests that even an average garage could have provided and i was paying top dollars for. Since joining this forum, i wouldn't let anyone clean my car lol
  14. True, i can't thank enough for all the info this site has given me and the advise from people who have real life experences of the car etc. I don't think i would have enjoyed my car as much as i have if it wasn't for LOC. Thumbs up to all u guys and gals thats helped me out. Had the car 3 yrs and have no intention of getting rid of it. I only choose my local dealership because it was the closest one to me and i thought buying from lexus themselves would be a safer bet (how wrong was i?!?). Would be nice to hear feedbacks from other lexus owners who have purchased their car or had it serviced at Broad oak road lexus dealer. Maybe im just unlucky.
  15. I got a rear TRD strut bar (from someone in this forum for not sure think it was about £80..cant remember lol). Its made a difference, but then again i had the tracking done by WIM at the same time i had the bar installed, so not sure what effect just the bar would have done, but the car feels stiffer round bends then before.
  16. Unfortunately for me, the lex i got from my dealer (which later i found out) had one wheel facing the wrong rotation (wondered why i was skidding all over the place in winter) and when i was looking at the car before purchasing, they didn't spot the big hole which i pointed out in the front bumper (which they did fixed, before i purchased it). Can't say i like my local dealer as it went in for a service (50k), ended up paying over £1000 cos of a seized caliper and they didn't even valet my car cos they said they don't valet cars (wtf do the cars at the front clean themselves or something). I love my lex but hate my local dealership. I expected more from a name like Lexus. In the same service i told them there was a sqeek in the front passenger seat and when i got it back i still had the sqeek, which later found out it was the seatbelt buckle making the noise and they charged me £2.50+vat for the greese?!!? When they phoned back i told them i was very dissappointed with their service and i won't be going back, and have never done so. They wouldn't give me a courtesy car either when i had the car in their garage for 2 days and i had to get a m8 to drive me back home (16 miles) and again to pick me up to work. The closest train station would take me over an hr to walk to. So you can see why im not a fan of my local dealership. Bet you want to know which one it is...heres a clue...Broad Oak Road.
  17. Wooo....false advertising. Contact ebay...if u won't i will lol
  18. ..and also tracking done...no actually, don't bother, their tracking settings are wrong anyway..
  19. Personally thats not acceptable from what they have done to your console. Thats just an amature mistake, which they should be aware of and know about. Anyone here who has changed their headunit will already know how easy the console can get scratched when taking the stereo out. Get them to change part for part, replace the whole console end of, nothing less. If it was very faint scratches then i would probably let it go, but theres multiple deep cuts. No amount of claybar is going to iron out them lol
  20. Just a suggestion...does this scrapping noise only happen when the car is moving, stationary or both? You sure its not the drive/fan/power steering belts making the noise?
  21. I always thought optium speed for economy is around 60mph (my old honda has a light that lights up when its at optium speed/fuel ratio) and not 70mph (wind force comes into play alot as well), plus the fact the fuel usesage on the lexus dash will let you know the optium fuel/speed to be at. It should be the point where its peaked the speed of say 60ish and your just crusing rather then trying to gather the extra 10mph speed. Don't forget about uphills and less downhills etc. I've never really drove my car on journeys (think the furthest i drove was to WIM lol, which i think was around 130miles one way or something).
  22. Just bought everything i need, m6 allen head bolts, m6 washers, autogylm tar remover, black matt hammerite spray. Once its here i will make a start on the panel.
  23. Yep, mine does that too. Always get that little "crunch" gear sound. Is there a recommended oil for the is200 gear box because im going to try changing the gear box oil to see if it would improve it?
  24. Theres a clue where his house could be......a picture of the house in his banner lol. It's sometimes true, good intension are not always noticed. I think in this instance shauny should have double checked his address is completed fully, it's always easy to blame someone else for errors, but takes a real man to admit he is wrong. A phone call wouldn't have gone amiss here thou, after all thats why it's asked for in the form. I've used prolex before and im sure alot have and i for one have no problem with them, it's the time of year when there should be good will, just let this one go.
  25. I got mine (already posted in the other thread, but this looks like this is the proper thread for the GB), both radiator and suspension plates. Will fit them into car once i cleaned up the radiator bracket. Is there a recommended polish for the radiator plate to get the sticky residue off? Stevie, did you get new bolts for your radiator planel because mine has gone a bit rusty and i don't think any amount of cleaning is going to clean them up, i'll be better off buying new bolts tbh lol
