  1. So can a 6000k hid lamp be fitted to a hid kit that comes with 8000k lamps? I ask this because i noticed that the lamp cannot be disconnected (like normal bulbs), you still have the cable that runs to the ballast. Not sure if you get that with a seperate 6000k lamps. I've got 8000k at the moment and am getting a bit paranoid, may change down to 6000k.
  2. I thought about that, but i wanted the cables to run round the fuse box (n/s) plus the connections are water proof anyway, they have like a plastic sleeve/ring where it meets the plug. Will find out when it starts rainning lol.
  3. Yep, Stevie and aztec you were right the connection (brown) had to be turned round, the nipple part that suppose to lock into place is actually the wrong way, as you can see images below.. This is actually the wrong way, even though it seems correct. The correct way to connect the brown connection is this way... And the difference (i originally had white xenon lamps in n/s, and even they look yellow in comparison!) They already look bright and its relatively bright outside (only slight cloud above). Following Cous's install with 3 velcro strips per ballast....
  4. Cheers Aztec, thats how it is connected when i tried it, but no joy...may have to see if theres any sign of a blown HID lamp, but both seem fine.
  5. Cheers Wozza, i will have to do that as i can't see any logical explaination to get these working (hopefully it's just me). But, another set of eyes to over see if i have made a noobie mistake will be appriciated. I need to drop someone off at Canterbury on Tuesday, after that im free. Where are you avaliable Wozza? I know you are near Bromley, but if theres a specific place i can drive to meet. Got a tomtom, so as long as you have a post code im good to go (and its not 10,000 miles away lol), but preferably within Kent/Canterbury/Ashford/Maidstone, but its up to you. I will try a few more things tomorrow to see if i can get them working.
  6. Will try tomorrow as its too dark outside. I will connect the brown connection straight into the ballast too see if that makes any difference. As for being connected wrong way round is very unlikely as they are specifically designed so it can't happen. The plugs have same fitting as to not allow a different or wrong plug being connected. But as i've run out of ideas, will have to try this (probably end up blowing some fuses). The only thing that can be wrong is both the HID lamps have blown (or been damaged during transit).
  7. I would have thought to phone the people (company) that you purchased it from to find out that info. Maybe useful to post image of the car (if you have any, as it's new) then others will keep a look out for it. Theres a very slim chance that someone may see it, a little chance is better than none It's new so i don't think you have anything distintive on it that people can look out for. Thats the ones the crooks tend to go for as it's easy to sell and blend in with the average household car. You may find out that someone else or few others also got their cars stolen on your street as these gang operate on a whole street at a time, as you have found out..by breaking into your house and taking keys. Did they steal anything else in your house or did they just want the car? Sorry to see this as it's something you really don't need especially over xmas/new year time.
  8. Hi guys and gals, Bought a secondhand HID 8000k HID kit (dipped), but can't get either of the ballasts to work. I'm pretty sure the connections are correct and my original xeon bulbs work. Have checked everything (see images below) hopefully someone can point out if i have the connections wrong...even started to car just to make sure that the car has to be started before they work. The connection to ballast. The connection at HID lamp end. Just for reference, the original bulb connected to make sure a fuse hasn't blown and my dipped does work. Confused as to why both ballasts don't work. Is there something i missed? Hopefully someone can point out where (if i have) connected wrong before it gets too dark outside.
  9. I think decent oil will also reduce the gear change noise you get associated with 1st to 2nd gear on the is200. Im sure im not the only one, but it does bother me a bit when i change to 2nd gear from first, it makes that clunk noise. I've read through the post and i think "AMSOIL Synthetic 5W-30 Motor Oil" is the oil im changing to next. So how many litres of engine does the is200 take? Is it about 4.5 litres? And i will get a TRD oil filter to go with the new oil.
  10. So what was the advert about? Only in Danmark adverts are that good lol.
  11. That sends the right message to the people who speed. I drive through country roads back and forth from work and trust me, the amount of accidents i have avoided (touch wood) because i kept well below the speed limit. I get people who speed past me, only for them to see me behind them again because theres always tractors, large trucks, people on bikes, people walking, road work lights etc and i bet they feel like a right numpty. There so much to lose if you end up in an accident that it WILL out weigh everything you have shown by speeding.
  12. Was driving back from work the other day and saw this on my stereo... Ofcourse the clever people amongst you will know the song playing was The pussycat dolls, but when i looked down it just made me chuckle! Sorry iam a bit immature lol.
  13. Ah right cheers, never noticed that before...as you can see i don't pay attention to half the things in front of me...you don't want me driving behind you at the wheel lol
  14. Not sure if im the only one that have this problem but it's useful for me to find out what messages i send out, but when i click onto the sent messages link, its empty. Is there an option i forgot to activate or something? TIA!
  15. De-tango the old ones and sell them off for a bit more. Like others have said depends on how much of a hurry you need the cash. Either way they will sell. Could go one step further and put angel eyes in it, will fetch double the price lol
  16. I've just bought myself an N95 (i know its a bit dated)(version one with feature pack one) with the expension slot with 8gig memory card. Hacked it to bits and now i can install unasigned applications, play flv, divx, mpegs, realplayer etc etc and even makes phone calls! To me i think symbian OS is so cutomizable and is good for software developers. The only thing this doesn't have over iphone is the touch screen, which i wouldn't like as i would have to keep wiping it all the time. Im going to wait a yr or 2 before i change my phone, unless i end up bricking it installing mumble jumble into my phone lol. Got like 70 is200 images in it lol
  17. I think its in your intrest to goto someone who may be slightly further and costs a bit more to have it done first time round and not have to worry about it going wrong as your driving out of his backyard! Quik Fit should also be ruled out as your last resort, the one we have here ended up scratching up my painted caliper, taking chips of paint off...what was they thinking!!? oh he won't notice! But at the time i had no choice as i had seized brakes and RAC wanted like £100 tow charge at the time to a Toyota garage.
  18. I know this is the worst one yet, but the front discs are different to rear discs....please no rotten tomatoes! lol
  19. Let me know if you can get hold of the rear ARB bushes..managed to get hold of a pair of "D" bushes from Toyota for @£30 inc VAT, but just for the front bar. They said theres no bushes number for the rear bar?!?! So im going to have to source them somewhere else somehow! Doesn't make any sense as there are two bars that make up the ARB at the front, and according to gord the messurement for the bars are :- TTE red Front 28mm diam, effective lever arm 225mm TTE red Rear 17mm diam, ELA 90, 105, 120mm (adjustable with three holes) Also spoken to stevie about it and there should also be bushes for the rear bar...or have i misunderstood something?
  20. Cheers for the link....im still not on there even though they said the other day they will correct this. They also said the other day if i do get stopped by the traffic cops, all i have to do is contact Adrian Flux and they can confirm that i am insured. But you know what will happen on the day i get stopped....it will be after 5:30pm and their office is closed! Must now carry all the docs with me whereever i go until they update me on their database.
  21. Hi guys/gals, seen a thread about this a while ago. I went to renew my road tax the other night online at DVLA website, but after entering in my code/reference number that u get with the reminder (V11) through the post, the website says they can't find my insurance details in their database. So i tried it a few times with both internet explorer and firefox browser (incase there some secruity stopping the transmission of data etc). But both came back with same result. Check my documents and yes i am insured until July 2009 and MOT until then. The following day had to phone up my insurance company (Adrian Flux, broker Equity Red Star) to find out what is going on and they came back with "oh looks like the broker has not updated the details". WTF why does it take 5 months to update my details, infact it should NOT take longer than 48 hrs! But anyway, glad i found this out earlier than later as im sure i would have probably got pulled up by the traffic cops as it's flagging up in red with their number plate reader. Don't understand how they can miss something for so long. Ended up going to the post office to get my tax in the end! Rant over.
  22. Ah, ok i stand corrected....change your cam belt NOW!
  23. Im sure the is200 is a "safe engine". The valves clears the cyclinders, but this doesn't mean it will not damage other components in the engine in the process. Best be safe than sorry, change at 60k, not 100k (including idler, tensioner). Also worth checking the water pump is not leaking whilst changing the cam belt.
  24. I play Grid (on PC) the kind of game you can pick up and play without too much customising every bit of the car (like need for speed etc). You sure Mario cart doesn't have the Nurburgring track in? LOL
