  1. Yep, now you know how lucky you was to get hold of a pair for £30 lol.
  2. Hi Guys/Gals Anyone had problems with fitting the induction kit from prolex? By that i mean, firstly the elbow hose doesn't fit my '01 is200 carbretter. I measured the diameter of the OEM lexus filter housing and it's 68mm ID (inside diameter), but the hose that came with the kit is like 65mm ID. I ended up splitting the hose just to fit the damn thing on and even then it's not fully fitted, just about holding on. So had to order another elbow hose as i'm not totally happy with the fitting (£19!) . Next, the bracket that comes out of the induction kit ends up in a position that doesn't go over any existing bolt holes, i will have to make another small bracket just so i can link an existing bolt hole to the intake pipe. After kit was installed Car has a slightly different tune at @2500rpm+ than before and seem more responsive (but this maybe just me being excited! lol). Air temperature wise, it's the same as if it had the OEM filter on. After a 30+ minute drive the final readings were both at 21 degrees, outside temperature at 10 Degrees. Readings taking using OBDII reader (proscan 5.4 software). Performance gain, don't know about the bhp, but it's suppose to be around the region of a few bhp, 5 at the most. Not really noticeable. But as mentioned, seem to be more responsive. Cost Well, cost wise i bought the kit second hand for £135 inc delivery(would cost £185 new, inc delivery), changed the existing filter (had power enterprise filter and it looked sorry for itself lol) with an Apexi limited edition chrome filter (£55). Replace the elbow hose (£19)+ decided to buy 2 Ace t-bolt clips for (£3), bought some clear sealant (£3) as i noticed there was thin gap inside the pipe where the adapter joins into induction pipe. Conclusion, is it worth it? Yes, purely for cosmetic change of the engine bay and if you don't mind seeing the rockerbay of the is200 or are willing to pay/make an engine plate to cover it. For myself, i'm quiet pickey and are prepared to pay extra to change the parts that came with the kit to improve it's apperance and function. For me, it's worth the hassle to bascially replace everything that came with the kit apart from the chrome pipe. The kit really is just for looks, the OEM filter has already proved it's designed very well compared to an induction kit, as the air temperature is the same before and after the kit was installed, but this is from my own findings . But the real test would be on a really hot summers day. This could be improved with the installment of a cold air box, but this is to be confirmed. So if you do decide to buy/install an induction kit, make sure you buy one that is angled round from the front of the engine bay, as alot of hot air does rise from the manifold and this will be picked up by an induction kit that comes round from over the manifold, making the induction kit worse off then the OEM air intake. Few images.... Apexi filter The induction Kit on it's own Engine bay before kit Engine bay with OEM filter off Engine bay with induction kit From a different angle Have also bought an engine cover to go over the rockerbay, plus the radiator panel and suspension plates, but they need polishing first before fitting. 3. ..or you'll end up going to work late lol
  4. When it's connected.. Last time i seen a pair of these for sale was on ebay, but the guy wanted £300 for a pair of front ones, crazy.
  5. Yep, but like the front chrome doors sills, they are hard to get hold of cheaply. You can also get lexus illuminated doors sills, but only for the front. I was lucky enough to be sold a pair for the rear doors, also with the illuminated lexus logo. As far as i know, noone has these. Had them like over a year and still haven't fitted them as they are so rare and have heard they often go faulty.
  6. Whats the reason? Is excedy not a good clutch? I'm expecting to replace my clutch in the near future, but as yet not had any problem (touch wood) and i accerate very slowly, just my driving style, never in a rush, leave plenty of time to spare etc. What clutch is suitable for everyday driving would you recommend (p.s. i have induction kit, but shouldn't be much difference).
  7. Hi, Welcome to LOC! I drive a manuel, so i can't comment on what the auto is like on the is200. I also have the SE model, so the extra you get with the navigator i wouldn't be familiar with. But what i can help you with is that the time belt should be changed at 6k miles or 6 Yrs, whatever comes first. It was originally at 100k or 10 Yrs, but alot of people reported badly worn belts etc, so lexus recommended to change at 6k miles/6 Yrs. When you do change the timing belt, it's worth also changing tensioner at the same time. It's worth asking the garage to check the condition of the water pump for any leaks while he's there doing the timing belt. Prices for a timing belt change varies greatly, but i would say for a resonable price is around £220. Lexus are charging £299 at the moment, but not sure if they include the tensioner as well as the belt. Hope this helps. I'm sure other members who are more familiar with your specific lexus model can answer your other questions.
  8. I found some 3g discs on Ebay for £147, do they look legit? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...em=290303174471 (item number 290303174471) Yep that's legit, thats the user i bought mine from. The ones i have are RS-10 and i can see the price has gone down since i bought a pair (£149 now), so thats good.
  9. I've been using 3G discs (grooved and dimpled) at the front for the past 8 months or so and i'd recommend them, they are @£176 for just the pair of fronts. As mentioned, you really do get what you pay and with brakes, it's worth the extra money for a piece of mind. The only reason why i goto Ashford is for cineworld and outlet centre. Don't use any garages there.
  10. Does the rear discs come out quite easy?
  11. There was a thread about this a while back, when people first applied for the photocard and yes alot of people got caught out as there are no reminders through the door. Sneeky one there by the goverment. The money from all those poor people have now gone to bankers who will get another chance to spank it all for themselves. Hooray! btw i applied for the card type in 07 (after having the paper one until it fell to bits in my hand lol) and it's valid for 10 Yrs. Slightly off topic, so if you get points where does that get printed on the card?
  12. As we all know we are in "recession", and as a result garages (being lexus) are offering "extra value" services etc. But looking at the brochure i got through the door from Lexus, i can't help but still think how expensive it is. I mean take battery change (no pun intended), they are charging £89 all in (includes parts, labour and VAT). I know a battery costs @£50, so they are bascially charging £39 for a 10 minute job. Front brake pad change £119, mintex pads are like £35 and its another 10 minute job eachside, so bascially £84 for labour. Timing belt change £299 etc etc (im sure i only got charged £150 inc parts and labour from a garage just 100 yards from lexus). I'm sorry, but times like this if they want to attract customers, they will have to do better than this surely. Is the prices only specific to my area or does different area of the country get diffferent prices? Like to hear feedbacks from this one. I, myself don't use Lexus as my regular service garage purely because i didn't like the people at the showroom, which you have to speak to before you can book your car in (long story) and they refuse to fit parts that are not provided by them, even if it is brand new and better than OEM spec, not mickey mouse products. Which i can see the legal reasons for.
  13. Don't think it would be suitable for the prolex type induction as it comes round from the front. If it does that'll be on my next shopping list.
  14. Shame you don't live by me as i have an OBDII reader connected to my IS200 all the time, simple plug n play swop to yours. I'll be able to give you the error codes. The only other reason they are actually all gone is that it's been left running misfiring for a number of yrs with one coil going one at a time!
  15. Yeah, i'm not after a complicated one, just a flat plate that goes over it all, with maybe curved/angled ends to give it some shape, rather than just a flat square piece of metal. Something like this. Not sure whos lexus it is, think it belongs to "TheDon".
  16. I'll be installing an induction kit to my is200 in the very near future (just waiting for the Apexi filter to arrive) and i've seen a few images of the engine bay with the rocker bay exposed and it looks pretty ugly (isn't there a word for this when there are two words in the same sentance that contridict itself lol). Anyway, i'm wondering if you can actually buy a plate that covers the lexus is200 rocker bay or do i have to make one (very unlikely as i have no skill, tools or materials lol). Even better PM me if you have one for sale! ps. it's a prolex induction kit, if that makes any difference to the engine cover arrangement.
  17. Yeah, like asi says, be VERY careful when you take the OEM HU out. It's got sharp bracket part that just love to cut the edge of the console. Follow DJ wozzas guide and tape up the edge of the console with few layers of insulating tape or something.
  18. How can that happen? Thats like saying all 5 sparkplugs blew at once, what are the chances of that? You sure it's not just a connection, or it's got wet? You haven't just cleaned the engine with a hose/waterjet or something have you?
  19. I think mine has that as a suggestive change on my lex after a service, but not looked into it for like 5 months and now i think i can feel more vibrations then usual on the gear/steering wheel when ever theres a bump, so i guess i'll have to get that sorted.
  20. By the time you have finished reading this article , i can assure you that your heart rate will go up a notch...mine did! HERE Heres some of the feedback on that story...HERE and HERE (but you have to put up with the pink page). Some feedback from the second link just shows that there are no justice sometimes and is quite sad.
  21. Cool, as i'll be having new discs and pads for rear, im going to replace the hoses too like asi, think i will go for glowing pink! j/k.
  22. Pearly white lexus...best colour IMOHM. Any chance of a few pictures?
  23. I've got grooved and dimpled discs at the front and OEM (soon to be replaced) rears. For me it's really about looks, as i know i don't brake hard enough to even over load the use of the OEM brake discs performance. The brand im using is 3G RS-10 (think it was £172 for a set of front discs), i noticed it bites alot better when pressed hard compared to OEM ones. Don't go for grooved and drilled (unless it's a very good brand, you can tell by the price lol, over £200 for a set of discs) as they tend to crack and warp, thats what happens to cheap discs with drilled holes does. Image, can you spot the air valve? I've got one question about braded hoses, when you purchase them do they come in pairs and is it always good practice to replace all hoses, as in both front and rear (if rear have hoses at all?). p.s don't forget to paint/spray the new discs with hammerite smooth silver before fitting them to stop them from rusting in the places the brake pads don't touch.
  24. I've got a set of Sparco carbon pedals, not fitted them yet as i'll like to get some grip tape to go over them (proper ones you get on skateboard). The grip patches that comes with them don't look like it's upto the job as it only covers part of the pedal. These things
