  1. Can anyone tell me what lacquer they used on their calipers? Also where to get it? I have had a look in the trusty Halfords but nothing seems suitable. Is their normal one ok?
  2. the one you made looks good, though thought you wanted it deeper? - or was that the missus! :winky:
  3. more of a little dig at lexus. Every other car manufacturer can make alloys that can withstand the cleaners but us! Unless you clean then in sulphuric acid or something I doubt Lexus will even question it - seeing as they do it so often! Must be like getting up in the morning and changing your pants!
  4. looks awesome. If you want a bigger piccy of the car on my avatar the I can mail you one, send me details!
  5. if you use a alloy wheel cleaner (almost all in halfords have acid in them) alot, then that will speed up the corrosion!
  6. They do look nice, shame if you have to take them back though, do they come in different offsets?? Kavey - I do try, but have been mega busy with work at mo. Where abouts did you all meet then? Was it published on the site anywhere - maybe I am not looking in right places, but couldn't see it mentioned at first glance??
  7. Right, calipers are now all painted. Gone up to the sort of obvious line towards the back, on the top part! (if you know what I mean!!) I have just taken delivery of my silver stickers (cheers Steve :winky: ) but am still a bit unsure. I wanted them to possibly match the car colour, but have also heard about white as stands out a bit more. However, I am really only after a subtle reading on the calipers. Help me out guys, anyone else done silver? (calipers black by the way) Piccies once stickers on. Also, do halfords sell any paint on laqcour that is suitable for calipers??
  8. looking good. So when was this Bracknel meet then?? Didn't know about that one!
  9. Can't say I have been that quick, the bottle goes!! However, far be it from me to bang on about the plod etc. But, didn't some guy get nicked for speeding from a video he produced of him in his F40? He then sold it or something. I guess as there are no road shots, no-one knows where these were taken, therefore you are all safe - but thought I'd mention it. Can the rev limiter be removed or raised to get a little more speed?
  10. Well, if the weather is nice tonight, I shall finally be starting to paint my calipers (black). Stickers should be in the posties bag too, so not long for them. By the way, what laqcour (how is that spelt!) have people used. I shall be painting with the customary hammerite smooooooooth! Cleaned new (replacement) alloys last night for the first time. How easy is that!
  11. :tsktsk: y :tsktsk: ing :tsktsk: holes. I think as you say, the parents will probably be reasonable. When I road into the back of a car years ago in the rain (doing the rear window in!), my dad went there the next day offering to pay for damages. The bloke was really nice though and got his insurance to coff up!
  12. I used to be a MER man - thought it was grrrreat, though when read on here about digging out the finish coat, was not to happy. Mind you I am still unsure about that - anyone got anymore info on that? Anyway, now use AutoGlym super Resin (red sticker) and also the extra glos protection (gold sticker) Think that are suuuuper duuuuuper. Looked at others though it takes me long enough as is to clean it etc. Don't want it to take the whole day!! Is there a one product meguiers wax? then maybe a gloss finish?
  13. I think that part is painted - bummer. However, don't worry about cost etc. take it to lexus get them to fit the glass and sort out chip on door surround, then tell the builders how much they owe you (or their insurance!!) Sorry to hear about it though, still, you could have just had you car painted then it land on your roof or something!
  14. I think you have to compare like with like. Look at say the BMW (yes he said it!!) 3-series and the Merc C-Class. When they get face lifted, the old ones are still mega expensive!! Hopefully that will hold true for ours too.
  15. if you like your music that much, how about an in card record player for all those 12" dance toons!
  16. isn't there a springy piece of metal around the pads? Maybe its that. Reading said mine was making a noise, last time it was in, and are changing it next time I am in.
  17. doubt if you will ever get it nice. I had the gearbox fluid changed on mine. Has made it a little better, but I find when its cold out and you first drive it, its hard to get from 1st to 2nd. There is loads of threads about this. SupraChargedIS340 mentioned something about a technical note regarding a gearbox tolerance issue. Keep trying the dealer, they know its a common problem. Do it sooner rather than later though, as it will take a while to sort out!
  18. Nice one, Brighton took weeks to get me my boot liner, took several re delivers etc to get it. Took 3 months to get the V5 back, cos for some reason they reregistered it in the old owners name or something. Could have been a DVLA ***** up bu tit took loads of calls for me to sort it out. They never rang me back and overall aftersales was crap. Posted on review site, but left it too long to write to Lexus GB about it - bum. Also, Southampton - you are even worse. Saying you would have to charge me to look at my poor brakes if there was nothing wrong with them, is well out of order. Reading are looking into it for free as ITS STILL UNDER THE 3YR WARRENTY! Loan car I was supposed to have was not there, didn't order the parts in, lost the fact I was booked in, ordered wrong radio type - even after they guy rang me to check which one I had. I will never go to them again - neither will my dad take his GS300 there anymore, cos he can now go to Poole while on holiday. Gutted! and I hope you loose your franchise! :tsktsk: :megaangry:
  19. When I had the newer model the other week as a loan car I didn't like the new dash (one colour). Looks cheap and nasty. Plus they have kept the goldy colour on the trim round the window switches etc so doesn't match. Didn't notice seat - I am tall (6ft3) or wipers. Do NOT like the 2 press to lock with interior sensors on and deadlock. Much better the older way. Think they must have got that from the GS300!! Do like the Strathcon Blue though, looks like it has a hint or purple in it. Bugger to keep clean and stone chips will show like a spotty teenager!!
  20. I am 27, originally from SE London, but now live "just outside" Basingstoke (as we say down here!!)
  21. Usually this is down to the belt clip part rattling, but if this has been changed then must be the seat, probably the mounts or something, maybe a nut come loose? I had the front left corner mount bolt come out on the drivers seat, so it rocked when I was in it. Take it to the dealer, they will sort it out for you. I have to go back to reading soon to get my air conn regassed -- machine had broke the first time!! Getting a nice IS300 Sport Cross as courtesy car - nice B) they are nice men down there you know!
  22. I saw Germany in the orig. post! :o If its available there, then does that mean we could buy the proper parts from Lexus (maybe have to be Germany - or does it?) If so, how much would Lexus Germany sell them for? Could get them over and fit the real deal - though I am sure that the other one is very good too!!
  23. I shall see what happens with my silvers then - may have to change them if have problems. Thought black calipers with silver stickers would go well on a silver car! If you go GOLD then you get them for cheaper. By the way -- Steve, did you get my order for them or do I have to continue with the funny paypal signup thingy I PM'd you in gold about?
  24. nice one, mine is up fo renewal in a couple of weeks, shall be calling them. Just noticed, Le Director - I presume its Steve, so probably know this answer, does not have a Gold indicator - Why??????
  25. welcome to the club mate, hope you find all the info thats on here useful.
