  1. Thanks Mark, now when I used the search button for "kills dogs" why didn't it bring up this post.... how good is this search thingy???... I've had problems before with it... Pete Had the same problem - in the end used the advanced search - used "cleaner" as the keyword and "steve2006" as the user......first time i searched just for "air" - which returned no results at all - which is very strange - sure there must be a post someone on here with the word "air" in it - well there is now :winky:
  2. Coincidentaly I saw the Kwik Fit advert for the free replacement pads as long as you own the car on the back of a bus whilst driving to work this morning....possibly a good deal but I just cant bring myself to hand my car over to KwikFit I can understand that. I would certainly not use Coventry depot. Nuneaton did such an outstanding job on wife's car sorting brakes front to back inc. h/brake (after even a main dealer had failed) that I had new pads fitted. Couple of years later they replaced discs and automatically put on new pads. Showed receipt and pads were FOC. Also freed off front caliper slide pin FOC. I am very quick to criticise bad service but I equally acknowlegde good service and Nuneaton Kwik Fit were excellent. Dave was manager so if he still is then it will be safe. Hmmm...would be very handy - I litterally work in the building next door to the KwikFit in Nuneaton - If I look out my office window I can see the reception.
  3. Not a problem Ive ever come across when looking through both LOC forum and US forums (on any Lexus) so I wouldnt be overly concerned - perhaps the previous owner was using a hammer to press the screen
  4. c2 vts was on a top gear I watched earlier this week think on dave. Raced on the track vs fiesta but the fiesta seems quicker (just) but fiesta was something like a grp 12 or something.
  5. it's not the steering lock is it? I have to turn tight to pull on my drive and steering never straight when I stop (full lock) and sometimes my key won't turn because it's too close to full lock- move the steering a little and see if it does the trick and don't park on full lock
  6. As pointed out by others ... Usual motor checks plus ball joints and steering vibration at ~60 and obviously check ALL the gadgets/electrics (could take some time ;-)) Then sit back- find a straight stretch of road- hit the pedal and then go back to fetch your stomach ;-)
  7. Not true - K is simply a measure of the colour - Anything below 6000K will start to look yellow - like normal old style lights. 6000K = Bright White - anything either side of that will have either a yellow (lower) or blue/purple tint (higher)
  8. Got to admit - for 3 seconds the other day I considered getting rid - Fuel costing me at least £400 / month but luckily not caught out by the retrospective (arghhhh thats so wrong!!!) tax as mines a late 2000. Then I thought - I'll never feel happy driving anything else - I'll miss the power, comfort and "uniqueness" of my Lex Just a thought - I wonder what they (we all know who I'm talking about) would do if we all went out and bought a Prius? Would tax remain at £15 a year for such a car and would fuel duty remain as is now that we have all done what they want and gone green for the environment? I suspect not
  9. Thanks for your responses ... Sounds my cheapest option yet not compromising on quality - I can deal with the dull boxes :winky: Thanks - I'll give them a call to see how much would be and compare with the above Coincidentaly I saw the Kwik Fit advert for the free replacement pads as long as you own the car on the back of a bus whilst driving to work this morning....possibly a good deal but I just cant bring myself to hand my car over to KwikFit
  10. You mean Ive been retyping what other people said for all this time and I didnt need to
  11. Must be something to do with the discs and not other (eg suspension parts or hub) as you would experience all the time - not only after ~ 1000 miles You might want to read this - Particularly page 2 http://www.powerbrake.co.za/downloads/tech_01_judder.pdf Rgds Mark
  12. sorry to hear ...and know how you feel...one thing I can say with conviction is - you'll be back ;-) Better to change now though before you start hating it because of the money it's costing to run and as others have rightly pointed out- it's only a car and seems you've made some good friends and had some good times.
  13. Checked my brakes at the weekend and seems I'm going to be needing some new ones shortly...any recommendations on make and place to buy? Pads and discs...rears look ok ...am I ok just replacing fronts or should I do the rears aswell? Cheers
  14. At the risk of sounding completely obvious....Have you checked your pads / discs ?
  15. Just out of interest - How many miles the GS done? I guess if the cambelt needs doing then you are looking quite high mileage (unless its an old low mileage car) - in which case I dont think I'd be paying Dealer prices to do the work @ ~£120/hr - find an independent. Also - Cambelt/Timing belt - at the same time as drive belt for nothing - seems strange - cambelt should involve much more work
  16. Hi Amit - Welcome to the club.... On the Keys - Do not waste your money getting them programmed at a dealer - most will charge you over £100 just to program - I can say from personal experience that you can do it yourself using the instructions provided. There are actually 2 other methods floating around - Very similar but slightly different - I got one of them to work on my GS430 - The others didnt break anything - just didnt work. May take a couple of tries - took me about 30 mins before it accepted it - but saved me £100. And I believe its exactly the same method that the dealer uses anyway. I'll pull out the details of how I actually did mine and compare with what was listed on the link to see if thats the one that works.
  17. Drove mine 25 mines after range said 0 - Still only managed to get 62 litres in the tank before it was full to the brim. So either the tank is not as big as the spec says (85 litres) or the gauge is very pessimistic....
  18. Think they've made an error, that's the spec of the new GS Quite possibly. I can't see any sensors on rear in the photo online but thought they were standard..with beep device not camera. I'll call in and have a look. No, not standard I think. Sounds like they've cut and pasted the wrong set of specs into the advert to me - is it the Desert Quartz GS430? For one thing, those are standard 17inch wheels in the pic, but it's described as having the 18 inch ones installed. Looks like the whole ad needs re-doing as the pic and the specs don't match up, and the specs don't match the options that were available that year either. Definately the wrong spec for the car - One that no-one has mentioned - ML HU
  19. ?? On the logic you are using - shouldnt the 85K one be cheaper as the new buyer is going to have to spend a 4 figure sum very soon - where as the 95K one has already had it? ie opposite to normal logic where higher mileage = lower cost
  20. Hope they didnt say that - would be incorrect - surely other way around :winky: Totally agree - Glad we arent paying for someone to make this rubbish
  21. So they arent like they are on the TV when the cameras are there then? On TV they ask who you are insured with and then call the insurance company to check - If OK they let you on your way - If not - its only then they take the car.
