  1. Lv , my dad was with lv. Had to make a claim ... nothing but aggro. But like you say another day another call could be totally different. You reminded me i havent tried them yet lol. Done the comparison sites, nearly finished the independants i think. It really is a mixed bag that follows no pattern. Only the lazy auto renew though so worth the effort. Results to follow,,,,,,,
  2. Agree on the dab tuning, manual poor in use poor. As for the satnav i find setting a postcode easy.
  3. Thanks for the replies, given me some more places to quote. Esure from the main comparison sites coming in around £280 but never heard of them. Got some free time friday so will try the independants then. one thing that gets my goat is the automatic renewal that privelige do. If and when you get a better quote you still have to ring them. Then they try and match your best price ,but that annoys me that as a valued customer you dont get their best price first !. Thats the game i suppose.
  4. Filled out their form, awaiting call back or ill ring them friday. my renewals in 3weeks so have some time
  5. 293 from directline which is better
  6. Just checked they seem to say you need to be 50+. Worth a quote if they take younger drivers holy cow.... they just quoted me £447, thats a no then lol
  7. That time a year again, just been quoted £318 from privelige. Im 49. i know theres a lot of variables but anyone of similar age pay about that? Thats no breakdown cover as on lexus 3yr cover. any recomendations to try? tia
  8. Ok, had mine 10 months,,,, the dislikes- 1. The passenger seatbelt when not in use rattles on the b-pillar. Havent found anything that will stick inbetween that works. 2. Road noise on motorway. 3. Best cvt i test drove by a country mile however i do find it over revs on hills until speed builds up. the likes- 1. While no car matches the quoted mpg this is the most economical car ive had and regularly get 54mpg + 2. The hybrid works seamlessly and switching between battery/ engine around town the car is very very quiet. Very easy car to drive. 3. Paint quality/ finish. No orange peel anywhere... try that on a ford or vauxhall lol.
  9. Now ive indirectly learnt something here... if stationary for a period of time id shift to neutral to save the car holding in gear but i guess its better to stay in drive?
  10. My branch work the discount out on calculator then apply at till. Odd but it works. if ever refused id show them the webpage confirming the card, i think the problem is they rarely see them lol
  11. Its located just inside the door by the seat bolster on the rear o/s . Just looks like a grille. Thanks john, yeah had about 3 rear seat passengers in 6 months and im not one for carrying junk so it will never be covered. Its was blisteringly hot with windows shut and a/c on high . That and the stop start journey kicked it in. May have run before but ive never noticed it. Good advice
  12. May have been running before but first time i really heard it this week. Took me a second while driving to realise what it was.
  13. I like it but its not enough to make me have another . Basically bolt on stuff.
  14. Hi, im going to follow this as i need to set my voice tags too. When you say youve enabled txt messages on your phone what do you mean? You have to enable bluetooth in the car and on your phone and search and connect from either the car or phone. I seem to remember one worked for me and one didnt.
  15. Autolock.... 4 fiesta st gone in my area recently.
  16. In cruise control you get the green speedo light on dash and no lcd display. However if you press display on steering wheel you can bring back the lcd while in cc and cycle through the different screens.
  17. Fair point, i think it will just make me more aware of whats behind me, maybe brake a little giving people a hint as well.
  18. Agreed on the driver behind probably not paying as much attention as he should , i probably just made him more aware of speed limits lol. I will have a play reducing speed on cruise but it definately feels like theres some sort of braking to achieve the desired speed.
  19. Heres an interesting one i had today and could be potentially dangerous. I find the cruise control useful on long roads and little traffic locally. Was travelling at 40mph on cruise and the limit drops to 30mph so i down levered cruise to 30mph. Car behind me gets very very close. Can anyone tell me if the brakelights come on while losing speed with cruise control? You are not coasting but actually using some system of braking. While nothing happened im guessing there are no brake lights in this situation. Not something easy to check but i will be aware of it in future.
  20. Thats a good point! Just makes me wonder as the engine kicks in each day lol
  21. Snowfoam prewash fed through a powerwasher, the theory is as the foam falls from the car on a 10-15 mintue soak it drags a lot of dirt off the paint. Meaning less contaminants to mark the paint when washing with a mitt. Lots of info on detailing world site. Car cleanings quite involved when you get into it lol
  22. Lets hope so lol. Just seems to go against what ive always done.
  23. As the temperatures rising and im not using the a/c ventilation i find i can start my journey to work each day and travel a fair way on battery before the engine kicks in cold. As at this point im doing 20mph+ is this causing the engine any strain? . I was always told to start a car and let the engine idle a few seconds before pulling away to let the oil reach all parts of the engine. And a picture just because .....
  24. Checked mine today, yep buttons there. Still learning 7mnths in
