  1. Due to my recovery period, I could not drive for 6 weeks. I thought it would be a nighmare but I did get used to it. But that was probably because I knew I would be back driving again. I think it can depand on where you live. My mother-in-law lives in the country with no bus service. If she could not drive I think she would be forced to move, as she quickly gets cabin fever if she is in for more than a day. I have noticed there are a lot more electric bikes around ..... wonder how long it will be before they have to be taxed and insured!
  2. This has happened before (not sure if it was on the Lexus forum) where someone had their license revoked and no explanation was given. They did get it back in the end. Very strange!
  3. I just pip the horn 4 times and dutiful wifey comes out and opens the front and garage door for me! Handy when it is raining!
  4. It is gut wrenching when you cherish your cars but it is not the end of the world. Out of interest, after the claim, does this put a Cat C or D on the V5?
  5. Not sure why but it did bring a smile to my face! Hand painted? Or did he use a roller?
  6. I suppose we could counteract a possible accident by just sitting in the LS 400 on the drive? Knowing my luck a Top Gear piano would fall on it!
  7. Many hanks, I am pleased - as LS 400's in very good condition are getting hard to find. I do intend to keep mine as long as possible but like someone else said on here, you never know with accidents. I really like the look of the 460, it will be very interesting to see how they "age" when well over 10 years old - keep us posted!
  8. Change of fluid and all seems to be fine - though there is still some travel in the pedal it brakes well.
  9. Thanks Steve, Will pass this info on to the garage. I am not mechanically savvy and rely on my garage (very trustworthy but are not familiar with a Lexus) but the advice and information is very welcome. Keeping my fingers crossed it is not the servo! £££££££
  10. I appear to have a similar problem. There are no apparent leaks but the pedal, when pushed hard, will go down to the floor. It still brakes. Getting the fluid changed tomorrow - so will see if that works - handy to know the other options. Can't understand how air can get into the system when it has been working fine - no loss of fluid. Will post the outcome tomorrow.
  11. If I owned that I would have to get a DIFFERENT wardrobe, that's for sure! Not to my taste but a lot of work and money has gone into that .... shame about the interior.
  12. I have not researched Dash Cams but I understand most need wiring into the car's electrics? Does anyone on here have a truly portable one, which plugs into the 12V (cigar lighter!) socket and can be taken out and placed in another car? I don't really want the hastle/expense of hard wiring. Possibly it is me getting old, but I find driving at "normal times" much more stressful than I remember a few years ago. The general standard of driving has deterioriated. People no longer consider it an art / skill to be mastered. Pass your test - get from A to B and sod everyone else on the road.
  13. No, this was at the main Mitsubishi Dealer in Cheltenham a few years back. He said he had never seen a Galant as good as mine...... but it was too old to retail. Their policy was not based solely on mileage and condition but also age. I did eventually get a good price for it at my local dealer - as he had a customer who was desparate for a low mleage example.
  14. Question 1: Here in the South-East from May to October 1940. Question 2: Hard one ....................John Arbuthnot Fisher on 4th August 1914.
  15. Good point! It will depend on the question on the ballot paper. The YES Campaign is to stay IN the EEC thingy!
  16. I tried to trade-in an immaculate Galant with 30,000 miles on the clock. Because the car was 4 years old the Dealer could not retail it, so the price they offered was derisory.
  17. Had a flat red car once - paint faded ......... also the seagulls seemed to bomb it more for some reason. I like that key ring idea. Green was a colour not liked by many people ............ my mum said they were bad luck and a relation said they are involved in more accidents because people do not see them as well. Personally I like the bright orange colour of Ford and Lamborghini.
  18. https://www.youtube.com/embed/6eGhjhx8O9M?rel=0 Tesla drag race.
  19. We used to give our dog Rescue Remedy (fireworks / thunderstorms) - it did calm her down to some extent and we were told by a vet that it would not harm her. Might be worth considering ..... it got my daughter through her 4th driving test!
  20. You really do keep your cars looking immaculate. If, eventually, finding a low mileage LS 400 becomes so rare - what other Lexus would you consider? Personally I like the LS 460 but members on here say they are not as good as the 400. Will this be the end of the road for such a quality car?
  21. We lost our old Labrador back in July but she hated fireworks (would not have made a gun dog!). She would go into the corner and try to dig a hole in the carpet. Thunderstorms often kept us up with her in the night. She was a nightmare, but we still miss her and her brother.
  22. I am so smitten with mine, that I will not use it if I don't know where it will be parked! LOL! I do exactly the same as Scribe, find the empty part of the car park, even if it means having to walk some distance. At the moment I am having to leave it outside, which I am not happy about! It is relatively safe on the drive but I much prefer to have it in the garage. However if the car is wet, I do not put it in the garage.
  23. The screw thread on my second key is shot. Went to local Lexus/Toyota dealer to get the battery changed and was told they could not open it and would not force it. Any suggestions? Drill it out carefully? The Key seems to work manually, so I am a bit reluctant to mess with it.
