  1. No Len. The autopilot is not fit for purpose and I question why it should be allowed to be fitted to the car. Now people can even disable it to run without a driver! Once the software/hardware is eventually sorted, I think autonomous vehicles will be safer than drivers. It might be an age thing, but I find the standard of driving in my town seems to be getting worse now the lockdown is easing. I try to avoid driving on a Saturday morning as this is a time when rules of the road do not apply.
  2. This may be of interest, https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-56854417
  3. Considering the age of your car Raj, I would go to the indie!
  4. I think you will be pleasantly surprised how good your RX 300 will be (I hope!). They are cracking cars. The only downside, to be honest, is the fuel consumption on short trips. I would think it will not be much more than your Shogun. Let us know how you find the RX 300?
  5. Something I will watch out for. Down here in the leafy suburbs of Kent, many people have only just graduated from a horse! So may not have much opportunity.
  6. What is the easiest way to navigate car tax for post April 2017 Lexus NX cars? i.e. the over £40,000 cars? Do you have to find the new cost of each model variant and year? It would be useful (probably not expedient) for Lexus dealers to show the car tax you need to pay.
  7. I fully agree with Ed here. I was concerned about how I would find the CVT compared with my RX300. If you drive them very hard the revs do tend to go higher than expected. To get the best out of driving a hybrid with a CVT box, smooth acceleration, throttle off then slight touch on the throttle to maintain required speed. The smoothness needs to be experienced to fully appreciate the technology involved. "Progressive rather than aggressive" sums it up perfectly. Any update David Lings on your test drive? How did you find it?
  8. Welcome to the club! Check out the LS430 forum also, regarding changing the radiator as a wise precaution. Wheel bolts missing? That sounds a bit alarming! Worth having the whole car checked over if the previous owner left wheel nuts off!
  9. Have you sourced how much a replacement DC converter will cost?
  10. Go for it for £20! Some other use will come to mind if it does not work.
  11. Welcome to the LOC! Can you post some photos of your steed please?
  12. Herbie, will probably answer on the technical side but from what I have read you should be able to run your 2015 NX for many years to come. Batteries, I believe, are at their most efficient when charging and discharging at the same time. Hybrids do that. The consensus of opinion would suggest that possibly age rather than mileage is more important. Prius taxis achieve Moon shot mileages on the original batteries. Very few posts have appeared from hybrid owners who have had major battery issues. And there is now a much cheaper fix through the firm Hybrid Battery Solutions. I would have no worries about keeping the car long term - other issues will finish the car before the battery.
  13. I would guess the Road Tax will be top bracket? Insurance quote would also be interesting!
  14. It was wear and tear but they were also rusty. I just wondered if they measure the tolerance after cleaning off the rust. Rust after all is dissolved metal!
  15. I had my discs replaced due to corrosion recently. The garage measured the thickness of the discs and told me it was below tolerance. I would imagine a Lexus dealer would do something similar.
  16. The only way to be certain, is to buy from a Lexus dealer with a warranty!
  17. I admit to putting petrol in a diesel! There were extenuating circumstances your honour! I throw myself onto the mercy of the court!
  18. Looks a beauty. Well done.
  19. I thought they were electrically operated, so possibly they don't come out?
  20. I did not realise you could take the rear seats out. Any extra space is always welcome. I really like the (old) Previa 7 seater. All the rear seats (5) can be taken out and effectively you have a van. That is a real multi-purpose vehicle.
  21. Looks the same colour as my 2004 RX. It is called grey on the logbook but it looks a pale blue.
