  2. Be patient and wait. Marry in haste, repent in leisure!
  3. I would highly recommend this camera. I film urban foxes with it. I think it is excellent value AND you can film underwater! It can be controlled remotely from a tablet. https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07DRJLK47/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
  4. I can see the appeal of electric bikes. I travelled from Ramsgate to Whitstable and then on to Canterbury on an e-bike, having not ridden for some time. Great to get out in the fresh air but I would hesitate to call it real exercise. Powered mountain bikes can take you to some exciting places I imagine. Any videos? Do you have a Go-Pro type camera?
  5. Do you have a Karcher type pressure washer? Karcher do a rotating brush that fits onto the lance. Unless you are very short (I am 5ft 8") it will easily reach all parts of the roof. Many on here would not wish to use a brush on their paintwork but I have had no issues.
  6. That is interesting as I do not have my head against the headrest while driving. What do others do?
  7. I understand what you mean by the sloping back. My Labrador is never keen on going in a car anyway. What breed of dog do you have Phil? A friend of mine had TWO Great Danes - he ended up buying a VW Transporter - for the dogs!
  8. Auxiliary battery can cause so many issues when it is not fully charged. First thing to check in future for any electrical issues.
  9. I am very wary about listening to car reviews. The best review you can get is from an owner who has had the car at least for 6 months. See which dealers will offer you an extended test drive. Should be easier after the end of June. Gives you time to research more.
  10. Well I am not excluded and I do not have either car! I fully appreciate your concern over the 3.5 V6 vs 2.5 four pot. After watching your excellent video on your GS 450h I see that in London you do not get the full use out of the power. My thoughts, in your position, would not be about power but comfort. Will a ES 300h be as comfortable as your present GS? Will it have the space you need for the family? Will you enjoy driving the ES as much as the GS (not because it is newer)? Will how the car looks on the drive sway my feelings? Will the extra cost implications make it worth the change? If / when I change my RX400h, I will either go for a RX 450h or a NX 300h - I too will be in a similar dilemma. Have you had a test drive of the ES300h? Ask for an extended test drive over say a 24 or 48 hour period. You can then compare each car directly by driving over the same route. Just my thoughts Nick.
  11. It is difficult to judge what you are experiencing Mark but you do not have an indicator on for extended periods? I can hardly hear my indicator on the LS and I would like something louder to prevent me leaving the indicators on when listening to the radio. I person ally would consider what you have as a bonus but as I have said, until I hear it I could not say even if I would put up with it.
  12. Thank you John - the prosecution rests its case!
  13. Read the posts again CAREFULLY and you will see what you said was wrong. I will help you:- You said: Here I am afraid you are wrong, Steve said it was on private land. Number plates, tax, insurance, roadworthiness etc. are concepts which only exists on the public road. https://www.gov.uk/sorn-statutory-off-road-notification
  14. You make a strong case for taking out the warranty. If you are paying a large sum of money on a car then you have the choice of whether to take the risk of expensive repairs or not. Also peace of mind that you will not have any big bills for three years.
  15. I accept Linas that you will not apologise for being wrong. You are very knowledgeable about cars and have contributed positively to many debates. Sadly you do not understand or see how you come across on a forum. You have rubbed-up more than me, particularly when you state opinion as fact. I am always prepared to hold my hands up if I have made a mistake - which I have in the past on this forum. It has already been mentioned that your posts can be blocked by members who do not wish to read your posts. The sad part, I feel Linas, is that people will begin to ignore your posts and comments. That would be a shame as I feel you have much to contribute to the website. Regarding what you say above - The system for ensuring cars are taxed, Mot'd and insured has become more robust, particularly with the use of ANPR cameras. The days when people could insure their car for a day, get the tax (without an MOT) and then cancel the insurance and run around, is becoming harder and so it should. Your gripe over taxation is you opinion, which many people will agree with. However, I do not. I am more than happy to pay my fair share of tax considering the excellent NHS healthcare I and my family have received in the past 10 years. The system, which has changed, is there for the benefit of the whole community. I will be blunt with you, this is an open forum so what I am saying is public, you are doing yourself no favours being so dogmatic and blatantly wrong without admitting to it. You must decide how you wish to respond in an open forum. I have no personal animosity towards you, I just felt you should have had the decency to apologise for your mistake. I think it needs to end here, as far as I am concerned. I do hope to read your comments on other matters of which your are knowledgeable.
  16. I agree John, if you tax a vehicle then it must have an MOT and Insurance at the time you tax it. When the period of the tax runs out you MUST make a declaration. Choices - Tax it, SORN it, Sell it, Scrap it - but you MUST do one of these or you get fined like Steve did. Number plates missing or even if the vehicle is parked on the Moon makes no difference! I feel better for that! Cathartic! All I needed instead was a straight apology! That is life!
  17. Yes, even if you do not have to "pay" road tax i.e. £0 - you still have to make the application!
  18. Speed is the vital factor - if you have a similar crash at 40 mph and 150 mph the consequences can be more drammatic. This guy was apparently doing 150 miles an hour - legally in Germany. This footage made me cringe.
  19. Good result regarding the stone. I would not be too worried about a rusty heat shield. That is a cracking car. If I were to replace my LS400 the GS450h would be at the top of my list.
  20. You must insure and tax your vehicle if you do not have a SORN. If you do not, you’ll automatically be fined £80 for not having a SORN. There’s also a fine for having an uninsured vehicle. From the Government Website https://www.gov.uk/sorn-statutory-off-road-notification
  21. That is interesting as I think I would prefer cloth - however the smell of a LS 400 leather - is very special!
