  1. Saw some of your Range Rover off-roading exploits! How the hell you dared take that rangie through that gap I will never know. Was your backside twitching? Mine was watching it! I have done a little off-roading and know how difficult it can be! Very impressive. I am not off-topic as I was comparing the LS460 suspensionwith a Range Rover!
  2. I could not agree more but he bought it from the main dealers and has always had it serviced there ..... " They know the car....." And they also know he is loyal custom and has a large wallet. .
  3. When you consider the new price (then) of the LS 460 - it does not seem so bad. You are running a luxury car, and when things do go wrong it will cost. No different, I would guess than a Merc / Jag / BMW equivalent. Would take my chances on a Lexus but not a Jag.
  4. Interesting. My friend just put his VW Passat (54 reg, 150,000 miles) in for an MOT at VW main dealer. One headlight will not adjust - they quoted him £500 for both headlights on top of other work which would cost £300. £800 - More than the car is worth! Fortunately he did not just accept the price and stated that could surely do something to adjust the lights cheaper. They came baxk with £136 for Unipart headlight. Goes to show what happens if you don't question the price! That was for TWO VW headlights - £500. My neighbour paid a VW bill (Passat petrol 2007 model) for £2200 for an MOT - shock absorbers and the like! It is not just Lexus who are expensive.
  5. You deserved that! I am a bit envious, as it has been raining here!
  6. When the weather improves (June) I will have a real go at the LS. She is tucked up in the garage for now - she tells me she does not like to go out in the rain! I do spoil her!
  7. I just happened to see one and bought it on speck. Torches and tape measures always come in, the more you have the less time you spend looking for one!
  8. I refuse to ask what GS stands for!
  9. Thanks! I tried the urban dictionary, but no joy. I am not a grammatical zealot, but I do take your point. "Could of, should of "are common errors but as long as people know what the meaning is meant to be, then that is the main thing. Spelling errors are common on the BBC website - typos mainly, as they are under pressure to get content out quickly and no longer have time to proof-read their work. I still feel it is a shame that we judge people too readily by their written English. Note that I used the correct too!
  10. I have been following this thread with interest. Excuse my ignorance but what is OP?
  11. I saw a LS 400 in Tesco car park in Dover. It is funny feeling when you see another one - which is rare. Saw this the other day and spoke to the owner - A Mr. Fox! He had previously owned an IS 200 for 13 years - hence the number on the plate. He said he was very pleased with the 300h NX.
  12. I like the colour and interior, particularly the instrument panel. It looks in exceptional condition, you have real cracker there! A luxury at a very reasonable price no doubt - well sourced.
  13. I read somewhere that Jeeps would pull to trhe right - apparently this was in case the American driver fell asleep and hit on-coming cars???? Not sure if this is true, it might be a mechanics excuse!
  14. Thanks Phil I will have a search. I am considering one for the future.
  15. Very interested in your towing experience with the 400h - tow bar costs and mpg towing.
  16. Could you try driving another 400h to compare or get someone who owns one to drive yours and see what they think - provided insurance allows. I test drove a car once that pulled to the left. Test drove another one - no issues so I did not buy that one. Years ago, many, my Ford Cortina seemed to pull to one side. Tracking / balancing helped at first but it came back - drove me round the bend, so I have some sympathy with your problem.
  17. They did not touch it. The only thing they did was to test the brakes on the move. Perhaps a very sharp brake at 20 mph might unstick the float. I will keep it topped up, just to make sure it does not come on again.
  18. Thank you both. I still have the smile on my face. My car has developed the screen wash light on fault. I have read on here the possible fixes and was intending to get round to it sometime. Mentioned it to the garage who did the MOT, told them the reservoir was not empty and I would sort it. - they appear to have done it! Will contact them tomorrow to found out how. Hope they have not just pulled a fuse!
  19. And no advisories! Suspension rust advisories last year sorted with rust converter and waxoyl. Very pleased - only windscreen wiper blades needed! Another Year!
  20. Actuall;y I agree! That does look better! You have still kept the Diamonds. I am against complete de-badging. That does look better IMHO.
  21. They will become Classics - no question about that - I am personally not bothered what the value is ...... they are very special cars. I have owned a Mk III and now a Mk IV. The smell of the leather is the same - very special. Keep it quiet or everyone will want one!
