  1. Mine dosn't change into fifth either. The IS 200 only has a four speed box
  2. Hi, I've recently removed a sport spoiler from a boot lid to fit the spoiler to my SE. The spoiler is held on by two bolts, accessed by removing the lining under the boot lid, and 5 plastic clips. You will be left with 8 holes in the boot lid, 2 for bolts, 5 for plastic clips and 1 for the cable for the stop light (assuming yours has the stop light fitted. You have to be very careful to remove the spoiler from the boot lid without damaging the boot lid. I used a thin pallet knife to slide between the boot lid and spoiler to try and separate the adhesive tape. The difficult bit was getting the plastic clips released from the boot lid. You can see some photos of the spoiler and boot lid with spoiler removed in my post here. In my opinion I think you would be better off looking for a standard boot lid and swapping it for yours, but then I don't see what's wrong with the sport spoiler Good luck. Dave
  3. I think they are conning you a bit by saying 299 pound is a special offer. I think Lexus always recommend that you have the idler and tensioner changed at the same time as the belt. When I had mine done a couple of years ago I was quoted around the 400 pound mark. So their quote of 299 plus the 112 would be about normal. Dave.
  4. I am certain that the SP9000s that you have had fitted won't be the original Lexus spec ones; these haven't been available for over two years now. Have you tried swapping the fronts to the back a vis versa as I did? By the way I wasn't saying anything against etyres in my previous post. I have nothing but praise for them. I have used them on 4 occasions now for replacement tyres on mine, my wife's and my daughter's cars. I am just about to order some more tyres from them for my wife's car to be fitted some time next week. Hope you get it sorted soon, cause I know what it's like when your car just doesn't feel quite right, especially when you have experienced the normal excellent IS200 drive. Dave
  5. There you go. You see that didn't take much searching for. Mind you that starting price is the same as I got mine for on Buy it now. Just have to hope that noone else bids on it.
  6. Hi, I had exactly the same problem with my IS200 when I replaced my rear tyres a couple of years ago. I'd already replaced the fronts previously with the original fitment, Dunlop SP9000. Dunlop used to make a version of the SP9000 specifically for the IS200, marked with the suffix L (for Lexus). I've been told that these had strengthened side walls. These were what I specified and had fitted on the front. Unfortunately when I came to replace the back ones about a year later the L version was no longer available so I had to go with the standard version. After fitting these on the back I experienced the exact same symptoms as you. To try to get around this I swapped the backs with the fronts. This did alleviate the problem to a degree but it was never back to how it handled originally. I hope that helps, Dave. by the way where did you get your tyres from? I used etyres.
  7. Just keep an eye out on ebay. They come up from time to time. If your's is that coulour you stand an even better chance of getting a boot lid complete with spoiler and just swapping the lot over. It was a bit different for me as mine is a bit of a rare colour. Still haven't got it sprayed yet but I have just organised to get it done next week, so should be looking at fitting it soon. Dave
  8. My dad had two Corsairs when I was young. His first one was when I was about 16 and it was the 1600GT variety, in red. To me at that age it was like owning a Ferrari. I remember when he first got it we drove up to Maidstone to get it taxed at the main tax office (no online applications in those days) and it's and experience I have remember all my life. The second one he had when I was about 18 and had passed my test so I drove it sometimes. It was the one with the V4 engine which was a crap engine. I think it was actually 1700cc, I know it was the same engine they put in the Transit van at the time. I also had a Classic Capri at one time in the past and it was a lovely car. It was a few years old when I got and the front wings had rotted out so I got hold of some grp ones which I sprayed up and fitted. I've got a picture of it but it's on my other computer at the moment. I'll post the picture up later.
  9. What you're looking for is one of these The guy also does a box to put it in here If you order both you'll get a discount on the postage and it will even come with the board allready mounted in the box. I fitted one of these a couple of weeks ago and it's a brilliant mod. A big thank you to the guys who did all the leg work on this originaly. Hope that helps. Dave.
  10. Hi sorry I've taken a while to come back. I'm from Dover, what about you? Dave
  11. Welcome to LOC. That looks a very nice car with the body kit. It looks like the colour is Antimony, same as mine. It's quite a limited colour as they only introduced it around half way through 2004 and of course they discontinued that model in 2005. Dave.
  12. Hi I'm from Dover, Kent. Had an IS200 SE, 2000 in Granite Sky up until 3 weks ago. Now I've got an IS200 SE Auto, 2004 in Antimony blue. Dave
  13. Where abouts in Kent are you from VVProtocolVV??
  14. I paid £100 + £15.99 postage. I made an offer of £70 but got rejected. The wife offered to buy it as an early Christmas present so I had it :winky: This had been on ebay for a while before I bought it so I don't know how you missed it. There was another one on there which I was offered for £60 but it wasn't a sport one. It was slightly raised from the bootlid with a support in the middle and it was pick up only. Link here http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...e=STRK:MEWAX:IT but I see it's ended now. Dont know whether it sold or not so may get put on again. Dave
  15. Hi everyone, Just managed to get a sport rear spoiler for my Lex. Bought a complete bootlid with spoiler attached off ebay. I was in two minds what to do with it, either get the whole bootlid and spoiler sprayed to match my car and swap the whole thing or remove spoiler from bootlid, get sprayed and then fit to my bootlid; my preferred option. Anyway once I got the thing I thought I would have a go at removing the spoiler from the boot lid to see how easy a job it would be. I had read some old post on here that indicated that this was a very difficult job. I started by undoing the two nuts on the underside of the lid and then carefully sliding a putty knife between the lid and the spoiler to part the two from the double sided sticky stuff. It all started to come away quite easily but I found there were also some like plastic clips holding it on as well. Anyway some photos, see what you think. As you can see even came with the number plate still attached, hope it didn't belong to anyone on here Came with brake light too. Bootlid after spoiler removed and spolier.... and this is one of the plastic clips that proved a bit tricky to free All I've gotta do now is get it sprayed and then fit it. Happy days, Dave.
  16. I had my 200 SE manual since 2006 and loved it but always really wanted the auto. Just changed to a 2004 SE auto 3 weeks ago and I am loving the auto. Occasionally, when I'm on a nice twisty B road I wish I still had the manual but overall I much prefer the auto. Dave.
  17. Timing belt change is definitely 6yrs or 100,000 miles. Below is a copy of the check sheet from my last service dated March this year Note the revision date on the edge of this form, 2007. Hope this clears the arguments up. Dave.
  18. After 3 1/2 years of owning my Lexus IS200 SE I'm having to part with it Only because I've bought another one though :winky: Picked up my IS200 SE auto last Saturday and I am still smiling. It's just as great to own and drive as my old one but, for me, even better because it's an auto. I've been toying with the idea of changing since early this year but wasn't sure whether to go for another series 1 IS or the later series 2. I had an IS250 auto for a 48hr test drive at Xmas/new year last year and loved the car but it just wasn't quite the same as driving my 200, there was something missing, just not quite the same experience. I've been looking now for months at buying the newest 200 or 300 with lowish miles, preferably from main dealer but they just don't come up that often. Anyway I saw this one a couple of weeks ago, took it for a test drive haggled with the dealership and went for it. I managed to knock £500 of the price and as I said the one thing I was worried about was that it would need a big (60k) service and timing belt change doing next year, they agreed to do that for me FOC when it's due next September. So that clinched it. It's an IS200 SE auto, Sep 2004, 49500 miles in Antimony blue (quite a rare colour). Oh before you ask I'll try and put up some photos of the new one soon, as soon as we get some half decent weather so I can take some. Dave
  19. Hi phil, I'm looking at getting a Grom Audio Ipod unit for my Lex at the minute. Is your one for Ipod connection and if so how much you looking for it. Also is it V1 or V2; V2 works with the latest IPODs and IPHONE. Dave.
  20. If you have had the 6yr/60k mile service done by Lexus last year you won't need the plugs changing. They are changed at that service and they will have fitted the long life iridium plugs. Dave
  21. Hi, I tried this a while ago when my CD came up with the dreaded ERR3. http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/ind...c=47775&hl= As you see from my previous post I think it does depend on which model of head unit you have and I think the CD changer would need to be the right one for your car i.e. a Toyota one. Dave. Edit: link didn't work. Hope it does now.
  22. Hi, You do actualy have 8 speakers. What looks like only 2 speakers on the rear parcel shelf is 4. There are 2 mid-range and 2 bass speakers and they are fed seperatly from the amp. Hope this helps. Dave. Edit: Someone beat me to it
  23. Hi there, I've seen this posted on here quite a lot lately and I didn't understand why so many people are having problems with their keys. I have had my IS200 for 3 and half years but I've had no problems with keys and as far as I know my keys are all the originals. The car is nearly 10 years old. There has also been a number of other people who have stated that they have had their car for a number years and never had any problems. Now this got me thinking (like I do sometimes) and I was sure that you need to push the key in to either turn the ignition on or turn it off. I think it's become so natural for me now that I don't even think about it. I have now checked what I do with mine and I have reaslised that I, sub-consciously, push the key in when I turn the ignition off or rather when turning the key from ACC to LOCK before withdrawing the key. I have also checked in my manual and it states in the section 'STARTING AND DRIVING':- MANUAL TRANSMISSION: To turn the key from "ACC" to the "LOCK" position, you must push in the key. AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION: To turn the key from "ACC" to the "LOCK" position you must put the transmission selector lever in the "P" position and you must push in the key. This deterrent is put there so you don't accidently switch to the lock position while driving locking the steering. Maybe the broken keys are as a result of someone not pushing the key in when turning to the "LOCK" position??? I remember years ago when I had a Toyota Camry you had to push and hold a button next to the ignition switch before turning the key to "LOCK". I hope this helps. Dave.
  24. That takes me back to when I was about 14 and used an off road bike. We used get petrol then for about 5 bob a gallon, that's 25p in todays money and that was for a GALLON (4.5 ltrs)!! Mind you that was in 1971. A lot's changed since then and I'm not sure I would want to go back there. I think we are much better off now. Dave.
  25. Hi, It will depend on what year your car is or more specifically what head unit you have fitted. If its an early head unit with the CD slot at the bottom, no. 13902, then it probably won't work. When my head unit came up with error 3 I bought an external 6 CD changer, a genuine Toyota one, off ebay. But I found that it wouldn't work with my head unit. It would appear that allthough the earlier head unit has the socket on the back to plug an external disc changer or mini disk in it has not been fully implemented. I think this is the same reason why people with this model head unit haven't been able to get the Grom Audio adaptor to work. If you have the newer model head unit then this should work fine, even if you have the sat nav it should still work but you will need a 'Y' connector to allow you to connect both the sat nav and the new mini disc player. I hope this helps. Dave.
