  1. As far as the car kit goes, look around for a nokia CK7W car kit. The 6310 has bluetooth, so it would pair up with the kit and with the CK7W you only have to press one button to answer/dial/hang up, that you can place anywhere, and if your handset supports it you can voice dial too, and it mutes the stereo when you have a call. Look on E-Bay, there are loads around. As far as the VCR/DVD swap is concerned, it should be down to how the VCR is wired, if its just a straight forward video output from the VCR via phono plugs (Yellow for video feed and red and white for audio, usually), then it could just be a swap. If it has a remote that works through the monitor, then you could loose some or all remote functions, if the volume works via the remote then it could be a problem, but probably not impossible. Keep looking on E-Bay for mats, they do turn up even in the correct colour. If you can press the Agree button to get to the nav screen then the touch screen is working ok, and if the nav is showing you the roads etc correctly, then the DVD is ok as well. So if you are at a standstill when you press the destination button to input the address, then something is telling the sat nav that you are moving. This may come in handy in the future: http://bahamutcars.free.fr/workshop/LS_01-...ents/index.html (takes ages to load, just leave it to it) Now here is a question, has anyone tried swapping a Lexus parking sensor for one of the boggo ones that you can get from E-Bay? May be worth a try because they sure look the same.
  2. When I replaced my mast, I didnt quite get the antenna back in right, so it wasnt earthed properly and the radio was useless until I fixed the earthing. So try dropping the antenna a bit and cleaning underneath the wing, around and in the hole, and on the earth part of the antenna. Use emery if its a bit rusty, just dont go mad. Its only a five minute job just to clean it, even if it dont work its no big deal to do. This will give you a hint on how to drop it: http://www.lexls.com/tutorials/audio/powerantenna.html And doing this would probably fix the crackle and engine noise as well.
  3. Go here: http://bahamutcars.free.fr/workshop/LS_01-...ents/index.html Can take a while to load, then look on the menu at the left. go to: Repair Manual ( - 2003.7 ) then to: BODY ELECTRICAL then to: WIRELESS DOOR LOCK CONTROL SYSTEM then to: REGISTRATION PROCEDURE Just try to program one key first, if it dont work try again until you get it. One you have cracked how to do the one key, its surprising how easy it is to bring the others into the process. Its a bit of a faffy process, too many choices from the mode selection onwards, so you may have to try it quite a few times.
  4. The frontal tests are at 40MPH. All the tests are explained here: http://www.euroncap.com/testprocedures.aspx
  5. According to this site: http://users.tpg.com.au/users/mpaine/ncaplist.html The LS400 and LS430 are both 4 star NCAP rated. However both of those are US versions, if the European version is any better I dont know, but in the same list the European GS gets a 5 star. Looks like the bumpers lost them the last star because they are reported as poor (?) Still, better than a Daihatsu Charade :shutit:
  6. Pic 5 isnt even an LS, unless they made a model with a manual gearbox, and pic 6 looks like a stock photo. Think we can expect Bidder 3 to become a member very soon, with LOTS of questions...
  7. The first mistake you made was taking it to kwikfart, you would have been better to take it to Marks and Spencer. Break out the yellow pages and look for a mobile refrigeration engineer, even better if he is an automotive refrigeration engineer. These blokes work on these systems all the time, and they know more about air con than some spotty herbert who has done a one day course on how to work an aerosol. And it will work out cheaper in the end if there is a problem.
  8. http://bahamutcars.free.fr/workshop/LS_01-...ents/index.html For the pads: Repair Manual ( - 2003.7 ) / BRAKE / FRONT BRAKE PAD / REPLACEMENT And Repair Manual ( - 2003.7 ) / BRAKE / REAR BRAKE PAD / REPLACEMENT For the discs: Repair Manual ( 2003.8 - ) / BRAKE / FRONT BRAKE / OVERHAUL And Repair Manual ( 2003.8 - ) / BRAKE / REAR BRAKE / OVERHAUL or Repair Manual ( 2003.8 - ) / BRAKE / PARKING BRAKE / PARKING BRAKE ASSY / OVERHAUL To remove the discs, remove the calipers, undo the retaining screw and pull off the disc, use a hammer if it needs it, rear discs are harder because the handbrake works like a drum brake on the inside of the disc hub, but they will come off with a bit of fiddling. The only tool you would need apart from the usual would be an impact driver to remove the retaining screw if they are tight, all car manufacturers seem to make these screws out of cheese. And as to the original question, yes any mechanic that can operate a spanner would be able to change the pads, although you would be better off buying the replacement pads yourself as he could put any old rubbish on, and tell him you want the old ones back as spares including the anti squeal shims. As to when they want replacing, if you are worried about the pads get them done now. If not then wait until the light comes on.
  9. Cheers! I will get on the phone and try and get them to deliver, as the nearest dealer in in Lincoln 45 miles away! £15 isnt going to break the bank. You can get a replacement pad from the dealer. I think it was about £12 - £15, but I got mine a few months ago, so I'm not sure. I had a good look around the net when I wanted to replace mine, but I couldn't find anything similar.
  10. Hi, I have been trying to figure out why my rain sensor dont work on my wipers, it just goes to intermitant wipe. So I took the sensor off and the silicon pad that goes between the sensor and the screen was filthy and was not much better after a clean. If I pass my finger in front of the sensor when it is away from the screen it flicks the wipers, but if I mount the sensor on the screen nothing happens. So I figure that the silicon pad is essential for the sensor to work, but should be clean and clear for it to work right. Anybody know where I can get a replacement pad, apart fron buying a new sensor? Or anybody used anything else instead of the pad? Thanks Steve
  11. And as for the Ls430 headlight removal, that was covered here: http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/ind...mp;#entry670216 Just follow the link to: http://bahamutcars.free.fr/workshop/LS_01-...ents/index.html Repair Manual ( - 2003.7 ) / Body / Headlight / Removal Page B0-8
  12. This shows Ed China taking the headlamp unit out, Starts at about 5:40, doesnt show a lot of detail but it`ll give you an idea how it comes out. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QzMYT22PBeE...feature=related
  13. I once went to a dealer to look at a Volvo 240 estate that he promised was in excellent condition. When I got there it was a two tone colour. Brown and Rust.
  14. And the fuel gauge reads normal? if not then it could well be a dash fault. There is another Temperature sensor, which I believe is the green plug on that photo, but I think that one is to do with the engine ECU and not the gauge, and I think you would get a management light come on if that was faulty. If you have a multimeter, you can test the sensor set to read ohms. the procedure is here: http://www.topbuzz.co.uk/maintenance/cts/cts.htm That is for a Vauxhall, so although the procedure would be the same, the readouts probably would not be. You could test the new one on the car, and the old one in a pan to see how the two compare.
  15. Odd. It could be a faulty sender that they supplied you. Is your fuel gauge working ok? when you replaced the sender, did water come out of the hole? And (no insult intended, it happens) are you sure you didnt put the old one back in instead of the new one? Made no difference to the reading Steve
  16. Try getting a jump lead, putting one end on the battery negative terminal and the other on a none painted clean engine part, see if the guage works properly.
  17. I would have a sniff around your local Motor Factors/Lexus main dealers etc, anywhere you could get one from and price them up. Japparts have them at 15 quid: http://www.japarts.co.uk/shop/ Its under the Electrics/sensors menu for the LS, all the years have the same part number (J5622003) so its common to all 400`s by the looks of it. Cant see any on E-Bay, but at least you have got somewhere to get one from, if you cant source one locally. BTW before you order, just give them a call to ask them if this is the right part.
  18. Have a look at this: http://i24.photobucket.com/albums/c45/buck.../tempsender.jpg Should be the same as yours.

  20. You are in luck: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/LEXUS-LS400-SPARE-PA...%3A1%7C294%3A50 60 quid including postage, cheap at half the price...
  21. Yep: http://www.nationallimousines.co.uk/limo7.htm Not an LS400, but: http://www.facebook.com/photos.php?id=2605...;id=26051409450
  22. So what do you want to know? Is it if the key has a transponder in it? I would imagine if that is the case then all you need to do is drop the electronics out of the existing key and see if it will start the car. If it starts then no you dont need a transponder, if it wont start then yes you do. Unlock the car door first, then take out the electronics, leave the electronics away from the car, see if it will start.
  23. is it anything like this? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Toyota-1-Button-Key-...%3A1%7C294%3A50
  24. Except mines blue, and got 4 doors, and its windows are not tinted, and the doors open sideways. Apart from that.. And the wheels are standard, and so is the front bumper But. Apart from those... Oh and the door mirrors... kinda looks like your car ... :P
