  1. guy that did my timing belt was finishing my car and i watched him fill the radiator but he did not seem to bleed it. are these cars self bleeding or do i need to take action. he said toyotas sort themselves out normally?? levels seem fine and everything seems to work ok and temp is spot on when driving
  2. there should be a pic of the front of my car in the Sprayed my headlights today, i didnt know how to get a link to it but i brought it up nearer the top so its easier to find in the modification and tuning section hope its what you required
  3. sorry mate i forgot i was meant to get you pics of the front. when you say fender do you mean the front wings? as for the wheels they are inovit st vi grey and the size is 18" with 225,40,18 tyres. was going to go for 35 section tyres but near 100 pound dearer a tyre just for me to scrub them off.
  4. mine is a 1999 and first press locks , second press it flashes 5 times and i can hear the deadlocks going clunk. never heard of disabling the sensors. would it be in the owners manual for your car? set up a night time camera and scoop the guy. a good camera with night vision not a cheap one.
  5. they did not look in bad nick but i have been told the tensioners can wear so just put a belt kit with idler and tensioner and water pump. would not like to trust them when i get my nitrous fitted. better safe than sorry
  6. i think at the min yopu could squeeze most dealers just to give them a sale or say sorry not interested unless its the right price
  7. yea it reaaly broke the bank cost me a tenner to prepare and that was cause i gave my mate it for doin it. he was goin to do the lights for nothing lol
  8. must admitt mine is a 99 but i never new if its had a belt but obviously not lol. water pump was prety bad too. def recommend changing it if your doin belt
  9. my 1999 is200 se passed mot on monday and all i did was got my headlights set. didnt even wash it. and i kept my fog breaklights on and not a word was said. just a confused look lol. best about it was a pretty fresh looking bmw 1 series owner was asking me what age it was and how well it looked when his mot guy called him over to tell him his had failed on rear suspension test when he gave it the side to side plate test. the wheel was moving noticeably at the bottom. must have been bushes or somet i didnt hang about to rub it in. lol
  10. have the old belt so will get photo of it an get it up someday. near keeked my kacks whan i seen it lol
  11. been told off before by cops and best about it was they reversed up wrong side of main road to tell me. its good that they have thier own rules and can do what they want. gutted for ya mate just ignore them
  12. had my belt done and water pump done today at 97000 miles and it was very close to no engine left. big chunks missing and threads hanging out. could have been expensive if had of left it any longer. also the water pump had leaked lots of pink gunk in behind the belt cover which was not helping. if in doubt get it done!!!
  13. well when i say stiffer i mean less roll round bends. had the geo set to the -35 settings of here. I see....... Well if you find she's pushing then you will have to dial some of the rear camber out, probably about 30' maybe more. you mean bring it back towards straight? would the arbs make a noticable difference round corners?
  14. i work in engineering company making tri cone drill bits for drilling for oil to feed all your our big greedy lexus cars and jeeps. lol.
  15. ARB's are a very easy install...... What are your intentions with oversteer? there are loads of ways to induce this. always prefer more oversteer than understear but would like a bit more tail happy as well as stiffer ride Well the ARB's won't stiffen the ride only control the transition during weight transfer... A less aggressive means to apply oversteer is by the Geometry rather than a more direct mechanical change. well when i say stiffer i mean less roll round bends. had the geo set to the -35 settings of here.
  16. There are a couple of recent discussions on the various ARBs here and here There's a guide on how to fit them here cheers stevie

  18. how big a job is it to change the ARBs. i aint ever done it before. and whats best set to induce more oversteer?? think i read about it on here somewhere but cant see it now
  19. That's what I was referring to, not driving. I was saying that a IS200 with standard geometry can eat through tyres. I can see this thread seems to be turning into people thinking driving styles are to blame, all I'm trying to work is how good should the handling be on a 100% IS200, and how many people could have cars that are below 100% for whatever reason. I know of 3 people on this forum who have not been happy with IS200 handling (including myself), but after a full set of new Vredestein tyres my car is now fine. I'm getting my geometry done to Tony's spec on Saturday, so will let report back with an update about how different it seems. is it possible to get a car that handles 100% lol mine felt fine even before i got new suspension but to me a car that handles 100% would be a r34 skyline ect.
  20. ones not too bad and used t cut on it but other one is no good. just have a look in scrap yards then i guess. cheers mate
  21. well to a certain point. i use tyres quite hard to be honest but touch wood never crashed apart from a motorbike. but shedding tyres could be allignment problems with caamber/castor. or a track day can see the end of 2 or 3 sets of tyres (and brake discs as i found out before) just stay within your limits and if you dont know your limits get proffesional driving coaching to help you learn to control your car or join a club and go to track days and build up slowly and get advice from others at the track. they usually will be glad to give advice fo free.
  22. can you buy the headlight lense seperately for the is200? surely if you crack a lense they dont expect you to buy whole new unit? after spraying my lights black i notice the defects in the glass more, was going to go to scrap yard but would be a risk of having the same problem. would be nice to have new lenses. and if so what would be the damae to my wallet? cheers
  23. maybe some could be to do with not being used to rear wheel drive and its characteristics. i raced karts from i was 16 so i guess that was a good learning curve, but many people do the wrong thing at the wrong time. i.e trying to engine break round a corner in a rear wheel drive is never a good idea. ir taking foot of gas at wrong time. sometimes its the completely wrong thing to do in a rwd if the tail was to break out. taking foot off gas can act like a handbrake depending what revs your at. i feel my is200 is great at handling since it had tein basic couilovers put in. but even before it was controlable only thing i dont like is the over sensitive traction control so i keep it off. and i would like a lsd too. but if your new to rwd cars i can only suggest that you invest in maybe a skid pan day or a drift day. any of these would help your driving skills and confidense.
