  1. I have Falken ZE912'S on my IS250, and they seem to be realy good, dont't be put off by the name, they get good reports.I will not use bridgestones, as they seem noisy and very firm, for the money the Falken's are a realy good tyre.
  2. I know they should be miles apart, but, I think they may be closer than you think, I've drove the CT a while back, with the only real downside being ride comfort and road noise, from what I can remember. I've had a sit in the Focus(out of interest) and its realy nice, with a bag load of gizmos as standard and available as options. What annoys me with Lexus is the fact that they harp on about persuit of perfection and refinement, and ruin the ride on the CT by trying to please the press, with the handling etc, if someone wants refinement they should expect a smooth compliant and comfortable ride, not a stiff one, why don't they save that for a sport version. Rant over, the Focus is getting realy good reports at the moment, on ride and refinement and handling, so badge aside, would you consider the Focus over the CT, and why cant Lexus get the ride right when Ford can.
  3. I test drove the CT200h today, as part of a hybrid drive challenge, and although I drove it like I was an hour early for something, it returned 70mpg, I was impressed, but more so, with the refinement, after my IS 250, I expected it to be a bit harsh, being 4 cylinder, but at no point was i aware of the engine cutting in. The interior was great and the driving position was the best i have had in all my cars so far.
  4. I had a passat a few years back, and it had valve caps with the centre, spring loaded, so you could inflate the tyre without removing the cap, and every car i have had since, i've bought the caps, they are on the IS too. You can glue these to the valve, knowing that you can still inflate the tyre without removing them, and they dont stand out too much as they are black plastic.
  5. Played around with the temp, and all seems fine now, as you say, it must be to do with it being set on the lowest temp setting, problem solved, thanks everyone .
  6. Well no joy today, i've had the air con on and off, but not in auto, and every time i switch the car off and start it up again it goes into the recirc mode and i have to switch it to outside, it can't be me can it?.
  7. Thanks parthiban, I wasn't aware of it, so I'll leave it on next time and see if it goes into outside air after a few mins, thankyou.
  8. I have a small problem with the recirculation mode with the heating system, whenever i turn the car off, then start it up again it goes into recirculation mode, and i have to press the button to get it to stay on the outside air setting, it happens with and without the aircon on. Am i doing something wrong, or is there a fault somewhere?, it's getting on me bleedin nerves.
  9. I would have the lexus one every time, if you dont have one, a single fault could end up costing more than the cost of the warranty alone.
  10. I the angel eyes at the moment, but cant find anywhere in this country that supplies them.
  11. I think it has to be silver on standard callipers, any other colour on the standard ones looks a bit boy racer, in my opinion any way. I'm going to do mine this weekend, i used to take them all off and spray them, but i done have the enthusiasm anymore, so i will just paint in place like rd27.
  12. Fantastic, ive had this problem for a while now, after reading this post, I decided to take the pads and shims off and coat them in copper grease, and no more noise, thanks all. Out of interest, I went into Lexus tonbridge wells for the problem and they said all was ok!.
  13. I was quoted £449, i think it was, for a 40k service, brake fluid change, g/box oil etc, but i decided to supply my own oil and the price went down to £353, i will always supply my own oil, as i will end up with some left over for topping up, i'm reluctant to pay a dealer almost £100 for 6.5lts of oil, oh and they charged £10 for remote key battery, bleeding cheek.
  14. I will be getting the lexus warranty as soon as mine runs out, as tango said, one problem alone could end up costing as much, if not more than the cost of the warranty.
  15. Thats why i'm asking first, it is 07' on the report i have, just want to make sure what way it toe's, as it is indicating toe in on the gauge. And i have found all the figures online, again they say toe in, as i said want to make sure before i adjust.
  16. Tango, do you know if the IS250 toes in or out at the front?, iv'e used it today on the wifes car and mine and it seems ok, mine is reading 10' toe in, but im not sure what the figures should be?.
  17. I've changed the front tyres since it was in there last time, so the steering wheel is slightly off, with the gauge above, i can get it straight and know the front is set right.
  18. It's just front wheel alignment, but once a year i can have it 4 wheel aligned, and make minor adjustments as and when needed, instead of paying out everytime. Wim is a 150 mile round trip for me, and once a year will be enough.
  19. Well, im sick and tired of having the alignment done then hitting pot holes and it going out again, or having the steering wheel off centre, which realy bugs me. So i have decided to buy one of these, http://www.trackace.co.uk/Trackace.html, which will mean i can adjust and correct whenever i want.
  20. Just a quick question, where is the best place to get performance parts for the IS250, all im thinking of is a black front grill and maybe a tanabe exhaust. Now im trying to resist the urge to mod, as that was not the idea when i bought the car, but a bit of window shopping wont hurt. :winky:
  21. If i could of justified the extra cost, i would of gone for the goodyear efficient grips, but tbh, the falkens are good value for money, time will tell i guess.
  22. I went for the falken ze912's in the end. a damn site better than the bridgestone's thats for sure.
  23. Dont know much about warranty direct, but i would stick with the Lexus one to be honest, mine is due soon, and i'll not be looking at any others. Just a no hassle warranty, im sure other warranty companies will use small print somewhere to make claims awkward.
  24. If the brakes do need doing, it's not that hard to d.i.y, and you will save a small fortune in labour, thats where most of the money goes on the service, oh, and the oil, almost £100, did i mention that. :D
