  1. It's apparently a new worm, it's spreading as fast as anything. Surprisingly haven't had one yet.

    Aristo Ecu

Yoshi: Would BP Ultimate be the only fuel that would be good to run on that ECU...wouldn't say Tesco's Super Unleaded or Shell's Optimax be good enough? Just wondering since BP Petrol stations are starting to close down near me :(. Also the spark plugs would be one heat range cooler yes? Just double checking. Any idea on what kind of torque figures we can expect Yoshi?

Yep bigger injectors will definitely be needed, which won't be too hard to source but the pump, etc are good for the higher power as far as I know. :)

Dangerous Brain: The ECU won't be used till I get the exhaust system sorted out, it's just that I'm getting it for next to nothing. Yoshi's car is already de-catted, and is using the stock exhaust last I read his webpages, but as I understand it the cars exhaust system isn't TOO restrictive in the first place (after removing the CATS). As the actual ECU is ok to be used on a stock car. Just had the Spark Plugs changed so going to wait a while as I've got a few top end runs planned then change them, oil, oil filter, timing belt, water pump, etc. In regards to fuel, I'm sure we can perform the 12V mod that all the USA people use on their Supra's, which will allow more fuel flow and be good for about 450-500bhp (which is my goal). Also with the stock SMIC you can actually "enhance" it's efficiency by doing ALOT of ducting and clever little tricks to get more ambient air to it, as far as I know this is good till about 400whp after which a FMIC would help out ALOT! Also another piece of advice to lower engine bay temperatures is to remove the rubber strip at the back end of the bonnet which will help out ALOT by letting the hot air out. Yoshi: Thanks for all the information, really helps ALOT. I wouldn't mind whatsoever to go 50/50 on the software, I'll let you know when I've got the funds for half the software and the ARS Cancellor from you :).
  5. Don't know if these guys have been mentioned before but they are very helpful in sourcing used parts for you, etc. Had ordered a used GS300 ABS Sensor from them for £33 including VAT + Del, but didn't fit (different part number to original), so had to send it back. But gave me a full refund on the part and the postage costs both ways. Highly recommended IMO :). Thought it might help someone out in the near future.
  6. Colin: Thanks for the link, was wondering if there's another way of resetting the ECU. As from what I understand from Yoshi's post is that it might be a bit of a headache to clear the error after it's done. Dangerous Brain: Yep it's most likely going to be the sensors, if you can't find a reasonable priced garage to do it, give me a shout. Thanks for all your replies though, have ordered a new ABS Front NearSide Sensor. Also is it just me, or is it more "fun" to drive the car without the VSC & TRC functioning. The car feels VERY light and feels like really "nimble" as opposed to a heavy yet very SAFE car when the VSC & TRC are working normally.

    Aristo Ecu

Hello everybody, Still getting my bloody ABS sorted out, but just got ahold of a mate in Japan and have been told he's got access to a TOMS TECS ECU for the Aristo JZS161 :D . Anyone know whether it affects boost or not? Also does it remove the top speed limiter currently set at 155mph? Main question is how much is the stock ECU worth? Wondering if people on ClubLexus would buy it off me if I offered free P&P since it wouldn't be much P&P anyway. Mitul.
  8. In regards to Mr Morse post: Would it be fair to say that in order to prevent innocents receiving the Death Penalty, a punishment of that large a scale should only be given to people in such cases where there are a whole lot of witnesses such as in this scenario? Also my condolences to the family & friends of the WPC.
  9. I know the feeling mate. I'm in Forest Gate and after picking up my Aristo from Syd, and a week later someone had pulled just the mirror off the car WITH the mirrors folded in :(. Lowlife scum!! Ilford carparks are always dodgy though. Hope the culprit gets caught.
  10. Yoshi, I'll send you an email in regard to the ECU resetting. If you could maybe let me know how I could go about doing it :). Thanks.
  11. Thanks Mr Morse & Gord. Calling up this morning to give an earful to the mechanic.
  12. OK Got the ball joints done, total cost of £200 with Balljoints and Labour. Now that that's been sorted out, the VSC, TRAC (meaning Traction Control Off) & ABS Lights are constantly on, on the dash. Just curious but why is this? I've been told the sensor wire might be broken. I've tried resetting the ECU but to no success. It's one thing after another and I'm getting fedup now :(. Anyone? help?
  13. Thanks for the help people (!) Sourced some people down, just so anyone else needs any help with sourcing some...look up Jim on 01268 512 512. Also look up www.cheaptoyotaparts.co.uk.
  14. The Aristo just failed it's MOT last Friday due to excessive play in the lower ball joints and a warning for slight play in the upper ball joints. Anyone have any idea if the Aristo MK2 Balljoints are the same as the GS300 MK2 ones? I'm guessing they are...also anybody know of a place where I might be able to buy a set ? Or prices? I've got in touch with Dave @ Prolex, will be finding out prices tomorrow, etc @ 11am...but just rather have two or three suppliers so I can get the parts in by Wednesday or Thursday and have them installed by Friday or Saturday. Thanks for any help in advance. Mitul.

    Rear Shade

Hi Syd, Yeah was a bit scared there for a second lol. This car is really something...just have to sort out the balljoint problem now *sigh* .
  16. Well I don't think it should cost too much...last I checked the people that I had a word with about Cryo (local to me and know them from my work place), it's all dependant on weight. Maximum price is around the region of £35-40 for a pair of discs, which isn't too bad IMHO. Since aftermarket discs cost upwards of £150 a pair and pads about £50 a pair, I think it's worthwhile, but I'll definitely give you some sort of feedback once I get this done :).
  17. Yeh I realised that on the way back about the tire :(. I'll definitely be back to you though to sort that out. Yep the knee operation will definitely not do me any good :(. I hope all is well though and yeah you should've just asked...you could've taken the car out for a proper drive and have some fun hehe. Next time though :). Again, highly recommended!!
  18. It's possible to have the cats replaced. Also a remap isn't really going to save you money. The cheaper alternative is a boost controller and FCD (about £300-£350 for both). Standard boost is 11psi IIRC and Superchips is not really worth it IMHO. Fuel system is good for about 500rwhp so I doubt you'll have much problems regarding fuel. What kind of rims you looking at?
  19. Just got back from STS in Watford, and thought I'd write down my little experience here. Got there about 5 minutes late, as I couldn't find it but then with a little phone call to STS and some clear directions took me 10 minutes to find it. From reception to Tony to other people who work at STS, everyone was really nice. Some nice free coffee too. Highly recommended!!! Worth the long drive as well . Anyways, Tony...will definitely be back as soon as I'm in need of some new tires or when I'm feeling a bit "rich" to spend some money on the car lol. Nice place you got!
  20. Yep that's what it's rumoured to be. The new LF-A engine :).
  21. I may have some people in mind who may be willing to do a Cryo job on some discs. I'm definitely thinking of doing this with my next brake disc change. Regarding going through pads quicker, I'd guess that if the pad was suitable for street use (Project Mu pads?), that they'd probably make for more durable brakes, that lasted longer between replacements?
  22. Yep would love to see some pics not to mention welcome to LOC :). In terms of performance, the first mod for you to do would be the exhaust...a turboback system would be ideal (getting rid of the CATS). Then invest in a GReddy FCD and a boost controller. Also pop in a high performance air filter (K&N, Blitz, TRD, etc) in the stock airbox. Of course you can go and pick up a Induction Kit (APEXi Power Intake highly recommended), but you would need to either fabricate a custom induction box, or buy a ready made one. A BOV (Blow-Off Valve) would also be ideal with increased boost to prevent any kind of compressor surge. I'd get either a HKS SSQV or the Blitz. The safest and highest boost I'd run with the stock Turbo's would be 17psi, nothing more ... also after the above mods have been completed make sure you convert the sequential Turbo setup to a parallel setup (instructions here ---> http://www.mkiv.com/techarticles/ettc/index.html AND http://www.mkiv.com/techarticles/ttc/ttc.htm) to prolong the life of the Turbo's. A Front Mount Intercooler would be the next best upgrade. If you're looking at a cheap intercooler which is good to about 700rwhp, then take a look at www.supraforums.com as the majority are using what they call the eBay intercooler which costs less than half of the GReddy FMIC and has similar performance. Although you'd have to have it shipped in from the USA, otherwise look at the HKS Type R FMIC. Of course you'll have to get new spark plugs which are one grade cooler than the stock ones if you're planning on running with the above modifications. Also make sure you sort out the brakes if you're planning on running with the above modifications. Ideally you should get some Stainless Steel Braided brake lines, Diamond Discs and pads (as recommended by Yoshi numerous times). After these mods, I'd say look into investing in either a larger single turbo kit, or have the turbo's rebuilt with larger compressor wheels, etc (which IMHO isn't worth it). OR look into going with larger twins. That's all I can think of for now, but those mods should push you in the mid 400rwhp range. In this range I'd also advice you take it easy on the gearbox as it'll be working at maximum potential. Also at this sort of stage I'd also recommend you pick up TWO ATF coolers, both with fans to prolong the life of the gearbox. After this I'd take a look at www.whifbitz.co.uk regarding the Boostlogic Automatic Transmission upgrade which will be good for 800rwhp easily. Hope you have a good stay! :) .
  23. Hello, Was just reading up the FAQ on www.mkiv.com. Came across a FAQ regarding the Supra brakes and ran across this... Just wondering if anyone has done this? Or is it really worthwhile having the discs treated?
  24. Mr Morse: See if you can get the whole filter element "enclosed", with the front nozzle being utilized as the cold air intake source. Just finished a home made "prototype" induction box (fibreglass) and it's made quite a difference on the Aristo, so no doubt it will do the same if not more on the IS300.
