  1. After years of suffering from the scourge of the Lexus battery, I have replaced the battery; had the system checked; been on long drives; placed it on trickle charge and it still would be flat after two days, I have finally found a working cure, I've fitted solar panels into the rear spoiler. I used to have the panels on the dash, but as the sun moved round that reduced the input, so I came up with the idea of inserting them into the spoiler, they are slightly proud of the surface to eliminate the risk of water collection and leaks, they produce up to 8W and 20V on a reasonable day. Since fitting I haven't had a single problem with the battery. Cost, around £80 for the panels (which I removed from their cases) and regulator, plus wire and an inline fuse. I have the power outputs permanently live so it's just a matter of linking into the wire, when I can remove the side trim.
  2. Hi Mohsin, I have fitted a rear nudge bar to my RX400h without the need for any alterations, I just removed the rear tow bracket. I would have thought there is no difference between the 300 and the 400 chassis. Tony
  3. I fitted a camera to my RX windscreen (stuck below rear view mirror) a couple of years ago after an accident which ended in a joint claim with the other driver, if I had the camera then it would have proved that he was 100% at fault as the incident would have been filmed. Purchased from Maplins, mine cost £75 but they range from £50 to £150, you get what you pay for. I also have a cheaper one on the rear screen in case someone want to rear end me :-) Also too it on holiday with me recently and used it on my hire car, nothing worse that being accused of causing an accident by a none English speaking foreigner.
  4. I had an experience last year when my RX400h alarm would go off early morning. After a few nights I discovered a MOTH inside the care, which triggered the internal sensor when it flew around. Solution, open window let it out, = silence
  5. My RX400h alarm went off a few times last year in the evening and early morning between say 11pm and 6 am. The cause was a MOTH that had been left inside. Shows you how sensative the system is. Got rid of the moth, and cured the problem.
  6. I fitted them to my 05 RX400h a couple of years ago without problem, as it has been said it is a matter of personal taste. Got them from direct4x4 but got the all black type (B88LEX400/H100502) because that was all they did then, although I think I would have got them over the Event type anyway, but that might depend on the colour of the car
  7. I had the same problem on my 05 RX400h, and was informed when they presented me with the MOT certificate only as a matter of attention for next year. It is the bolt that the caliper slides on which rusts up, it causes an un-even pressure on the disc. i took my car to an ordinary garage (although he is an ex Lexus service manager, this shouldn't be outside the scope of a good mechanic) who freed the bolt and cheched the other side for me too, total cost £75 in his grubby little hand.
  8. I received a letter this morning informing me that my car IS in for a recall on the hybrid inverter. The car is a 2005 UK version. Rang my local Lexus dealer and they confirmed that I will be contacted by them in the future, so this is not aimed at the US market only.
  9. Hi, Have had a Solar Panel charger fitted to my car for over 2 years without any problems. I have had the power sockets rewird so that they are always live, as they otherwise turn 'off' when the ignition is off. Got no idea what the problem could be your end :-( Tony
  10. Great idea. Now, could I borrow your wife in July?? Got an idea for a Birthday present, (you can have her back as I got one already)
  11. If the adjustment control is central it won't work, control needs to be left in the right or left position.
  12. Oh well I give in, there isn't an easy way of doing this job, and a lot more involved than you may think. So I got the car booked into a local Toyota dealer as they can do the job at £100 less than the local Lexus dealer AND provide me with a driver/car to bring me home while they do it and pick me up when it's done.
  13. Afraid that they are much further back than the air box, which I did remove to make it easy to do the front 3.
  14. I order to save a few bob, (OK many pounds) I decided together with the engine oil air and oil filter to change my spark plugs, although doing the front 3 was straight forward, I came to a grinding halt on the 3 at the rear of the block. I think I can see 2 of them in a position which looks and is impossible for me to access. How are they reached, over the top by removing something or from underneath? :duh:
  15. Yes, mine was recalled a couple of months ago for the steering.
  16. Women, they should stick to Fairy Cakes and Sponges. Oh yes, and Breat Feeding Babies Don't tell her that though, or she'll put engine oil in the Rad.
  17. I would have thought that an older car would benefit more from a flush ???
  18. No pave the cat, or use quick setting mortar. I treated myself to a catapult last year, don't hit the cat (as much as I'd like to) but the sudden noise of something near them whilst preparing to do what they do, makes them almost fly. After a couple of time the cat never returns.
  19. Had to read it threee times to get there but I understand what you're saying now.
  20. I'm with Vodafone and have been for a few years. Each year i tell them I am leaving them and so at not to lose a customer each year they upgrade my phone AND reduce my payments by half for 9 months out of the 12. Tell them you're leaving.
  21. I'd put the chrome ones back on, with the added touch of Super Glue, not on the thread but on the outside
  22. I would say you broken something. Call the AA and RAC
  23. Don't forget the Negative feedback, he won't like that Good luck.
  24. I notice that you haven't put any feedback on him, and have you contacted PayPal (if you paid via them)
  25. I'm on IE8 and have been for some time, so I know it's not by changing to that. One day it was displaying with the threads/replies below and then all of a sudden it changed to what appears to be a lay-out that some of us aren't taking to Logging in/out isn't making any difference :tsktsk:
