  1. The guide says its not road legal? Why's that? So long as it lights up red when you brake I didnt realise there was an issue?
  2. Well I can get a full interior valet done by a mobile valeter for £48....do you think its worth the elbow grease, or throw the professional a bullseye? Naturally Im looking for "nearly new" results
  3. Got my new (used) mirror yesterday fitted etc etc. Seems from this thread that all our mirrors are the same (heated, electric adjustment, electric folding) and the autodimm was an option. Although Lexus told me from taking my reg that I have autodimm, my center mirror has the manual lever thing for dimming the glass, and not the button that someone had mentioned here before - thieving gits. Just wanted to thank everyone for their advice :-D
  4. Hi all, My beige interior trim is need of a good spring clean....wondered if you could all recommend the best products to use for each part? Door cards & kick plates?? Seats (leather part)?? Seats (cloth part)?? Roof lining?? Thanks
  5. Hi all, Did a search without joy... Is there a guide available for modding your rear fogs to side & brake lights?? Cheers all
  6. Well thanks all for your advice....seems the only thing I risk missing out on by sourcing a mirror from breakers is my auto-dimm. I was told by Lexus that auto-dimm was an option which my car DOES have (IS200 Sport). Are there any auto-sparkys on here that would know if hooking up a non auto-dimm mirror up to a loom that has auto-dimm wired in would cause any issues, or just simple mean that one mirror wont auto-dimm?
  7. Oh cool....so does that mean that ALL IS200's have heated mirrors regardless of what switch they have??
  8. Ive only had mine a couple of months....turned the TRC off round a corner once...wont be doing that again... And lost the rear slightly in the rain which I have to say although it caught me by suprise it was kinda fun lol... Sooooo want to get to an empty car park but afraid of catching a crack in the road and flippin the thing :-(
  9. I have a button which shows the rear window and the wing mirrors on it.....what will happen if I get a mirror that came from a car with auto heated mirrors? Id guess it wont matter as something like that will be part of the way its wired up and not to do with the mirror itselt? right?? Also Lexus told me that I DO have the anti-glare feature on my car.....is there a danger that by connecting up a NON anti-glare mirror it could disable anti-glare for the other mirrors? Its gonna be a nightmare trying to find an anti-glare mirror from a breakers thats all....Id sooner get the mirror then add an OEM anti-glare glass at a later date.
  10. I know the spec of my mirror, just wanted to know what is standard and what I have extra (if anything) on my car.....???
  11. Hi all, Im after some EXPERT advice about my wing mirror... I have a 2001 IS200 Sport and need to replace my wing mirror (in whole). Do you know what specs of wing mirror are available and in turn what spec I should have on a 2001 sport model? Heated/non-heated? Anti-glare? Are ALL IS200 mirrors electric, heated and we all have the fold in button?? Im sourcing one from a breakers and if the only difference is the anti-glare then im not fussed which car the mirror comes from. One breakers has told me there are two types of connectors for the wiring loom??? Any advice would be brilliant....dont wanna get the wrong mirror Cheers Bill
  12. Can I ask why 10w-40? Doesnt the manual recommend 5w-30? Apologies in advance as Im guessing the whole "which oil" debate has been had 10 times over
  13. Hi all, Unfortunately due to some damage someone decided to apply to my car then drive off and not tell me about it I need to replace my wing mirror and door glass :-( Wing Mirror looks pretty simple but is it easy to fit door glass? I used to have a Fiesta so taking the door card off was a doddle but the Lexus obvously looks a bit more complicated....I cant even see where to start? Has anyone replaced the door glass on their IS? If so it'd be great to know how to get the door card off as im guessing the glass is accessible after that?? And wing mirrors.....as I have the sport I got the highest spec mirror.....is the wiring easy to connect up again or will I need to snip and connect/tape up?? Advice appreciated :-) Bill
  14. Sound advice - cheers all :-) Would anyone advise against using green stuff pads with mintex discs? Dont need any extra braking performance as Im satisfied with the response from a standard setup....but will the green stuffs be kind to the Mintex discs?? Or should I just go all out and get an EBC front setup?
  15. EBC pads - Anyone know the differences between Green, Red and Black stuff? I had Green on my XR2i years and years ago....they were awesome!! My mate has black on his Golf GTI....also brilliant... And Ive seen red advertised on ebay for the IS.....any ideas?
  16. Can anyone recommend a set that produce minimum brake dust? My alloys get dirty almost straight away - and before you say i dont drive like a plum lol
  17. So the OEM parcel shelf speakers are 2 way? Im not really up on ICE....most 6x9s in the shops are 3 way.....do our OEM ones simply provide bass? What "type" of speaker should I look for? 2-way, 1-way?? And BTW....having just read your ICE spec....do you still have your OEM speakers??? ;-)
  18. Hi to all, One of the parcel shelf speakers in my IS200 Sport is "farting".....I have the 8 speaker system. Now as Lexus want £172 + VAT, and I cant find any on ebay or various scrap yards, I wondered what I could replace it (or both of them) with? Does anyone recommend any aftermarket brands/specific speakers that once fitted will not compromise the cars factory installation? I believe they are 6x9s but havent taken a tape measure to them so please correct me if im wrong? Dont wanna spend mega bucks just want to eliminate the "farting" without losing the quality of the factory install?? Cheers Bill
  19. You say that....I was in a cab sat night....55 plate had done 202,000 miles haha (Skoda Octavia) Must be 295,000 km's....that is very impressive!!
  20. Im 20 min drive from Beckenham so yeh Ill give Albin a call... Tech One (Toyota Specialists) in Sidcup quoted me £195 all in so might do it there being Toyota specialists Cheers for the advice people!
  21. I get this knocking when I suddenly stop to change direction ie a 3 point turn or something. Can somebody please explain where and what to look for on my brakes to see if i am suffering? I am painting them this weekend anyways so will be an ideal op for curing the mystery knock? PS - if i find its the missing clips, how do i cure it? Is it the same clips that hold the slider to the piston part of the caliper?
  22. If petrol is less than the difference (£80) whats stopping me lol.....
  23. Thanks for the advice people... My motor is 51 plate 2001. Its def not a dirty chrome, simply a rotted standard tailpipe. Gonna get a powerflow tip welded on as close to the std chrome tip as I can. Hopefully my box is in good nick, no point welding on a tip if i will need a new box soon. As for the grill, I need to have some stone chipping seen to at the front so I might try and source a sport grille...they look quite nice seen as mine is a "sport" spec also. (I currently have the later 3 bar OEM grille).
  24. Can someone please clear something up for me? Did the sport come with a different grille? And is it poss to post pics of the different grilles...... My "Sport" is already missing a chrome exhaust....dont say i have the wrong grille to?
