  1. I cant recall about the sticker...if there is one I have been extremely ignorant not to notice. Unfortunately i didnt get any receipts with my car, just the service book with stamps and hpi print out from the dealer. Yes I have read up loads on cambelt changes....my belt is completely full size (no wear) and the inside of my cover was clean. As I said I shall check again see if it has moved over again since I straightened it up. What can/should I spray on my belts to eliminate the squeak without lubing them up too much - dont want them to slip??
  2. I might try the garages listed in my history, worth a shot I guess. On initial inspection my belt was off centre on the pulley, could this indicate that the tensioner is failing? I straightened it up at the time, might get the cover off again and see if it has moved back. What noise would the water pump make? I have a squeeking on tickover, but was advised that was my drive belts...would the water pump squeek?
  3. Hi all, I have been pricing up a cambelt change, sourcing parts at their cheapest etc but Im still in two minds whether to get it done or not. My Car has done 80k and all though its last service with Lexus was 40k, it has had services at every 10k since inc a small service I have paid for recently at 80k. Now I had the cover off the cambelt to inspect it as soon as I bought the car and found that the belt looked fairly new. No cracking or anything all teeth intact and it actually feels quite rubbery as a new belt would. I have also noticed that my water pump seems to be a lot shinier/cleaner than the rest of my block, indicating that it is fairly new. Bearing in mind Cambelt is due at 60k I am wondering if the previous owner has had it done? Although I appreciate we cannot be 100% sure what our previous did or didnt have done to our motors, I wonder if there is anything I can test, or look for to determine the age of my water pump and cambelt? Many thanks Bill
  4. HKS FCD? Has this anything to do with the HKS exhaust as Im looking at buying one?? Forgive my naivety
  5. Did yours come painted to order? Just stuck/fixed it on? Is fitting DIY?
  6. I did this mod....I went for angel eyes, painted the chrome surround matt black but left the side corners chrome and the orange filters in (just like the late OEM headlights). I wanted the late OEM look but with Angel eyes. Also if you have HIDs, painting the surround matt black eliminated about 75% of the glare caused by retrofit HIDs. I heated the lights back up again to refit the glass, and then run a bead of clear silicone around the edge to provide a 100% seal - NO MORE MISTING :-) MUCH BETTER - well chuffed!! And like another member has just said, it turns a lot of heads now.
  7. What does the wiring loom consist of? And do you need a GPS receiver or is that built into the module? Do you have the DVD also?
  8. Thats the kinda feedback I was looking for - thanks very much :-) Has anyone on here bought an aftermarket Sat Nav system and played it through the OEM screen? Will be nice to use the OEM screen as you can pick one up for less than £100. I think I saw a member from Sweeden do it, cant remember his username :-( sorry
  9. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=270546814275&ssPageName=ADME:B:WNA:GB:1123 Hi all, OEM Navigation system on ebay....no one has bid probably due to the sellers negative feedback haha. Obv Im not gonna bid but if you can clear a few things up for me I might be willing to offer him £100-150 cash outside of ebay (no commitment). Do ALL IS200/300's have the loom for sat nav? Or will the loom only be present in a Navigator model? Apart from screen and the player module thing for the boot, what else do I need to make sure he has or I might need to get for it to run in full OEM working order? Thanks all
  10. Oh if you have a key and fob uncut that'd be perfect mate....if you wouldn't mind taking a look and we can talk reddies after that. Cheers
  11. Cool....£45 buy it now for blank key with fob? That sounds pretty reasonable to me?
  12. Hi all, Had a pretty close call sat night almost losing my only key for the IS - someone up there is watching me, it was exactly where I first looked in the middle of London's Pacha nightclub just sitting there on the floor!!! Unreal luck!! This has obv prompted me to pay out for a spare key. Now can anyone please suggest the cheapest route as I know we can program our own keys etc. I was thinking ebay for a key and then Im sure there is a thread on here for programming your key yourself?? Advice please - with approx prices would be great. Ta Bill
  13. Thanks Jim for the update, i am having the same problem :( and the bonnet too :( There is a V-Shaped piece of metal which acts as a spring clipped into the inside of the petrol cap flap. Mine gave way eventually so there was nothing to push the flap open when I pulled the lever. Check it is in position or even still intact. Only £2.50 to replace from Lex. :-)
  14. Anyone found those sachets on ebay or anywhere else? Typical...almost always throw them away when I buy new trainers etc :-(
  15. I hadnt realised the cambelt had to come off for the water pump to be removed....that is the decider for me... Thanks for your help all :-)
  16. I got one of these....works a treat AND charges the phone! no annoying wires all over the place either! http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/IN-CAR-PHONE-HOLDER-...=item563451552c Must be able to get them for all phones
  17. I HIGHLY recommend the bodyshop I have used for years....only thing is he is in West Kingsdown. He is listed for insurance repairs on prestige cars. Whenever Ive had work done he always has a Ferrari, Aston, Range Rover etc in the workshop but welcomes cash work on the side ;-). Id guess his price for your damage would be around the £200 mark mate - give him a call tell him I recommended him (Billy - Blue Lexus) he'll know who you mean. Make sure you ask to speak to Gary - he's the owner. Chappell Coachworks - 01474 855503 West Kingsdown TN15 6ER
  18. Hi all, Cambelt change is coming out of this months wages. I was wondering about the reliability of our water pumps? I know most will advise to renew the water pump with the cambelt as all components are already off so it is no extra labour etc? But at an extra £95 + coolant on top of my bill which is already looking at £250 I wonder how necessary this is? Has anyone had a water pump fail on them? What complications could it cause? How do they fail - gradually or suddenly? Is replacing a waterpump without doing the cambelt just as much labour? My car has done 80k, but the waterpump looks almost new and the bearings feel solid when I inspect them so I am wondering if has been replaced since the car was new - is this likely at 80k? Thoughts please?
  19. Mmmmm seeing a mint black interior now, Im kinda regretting getting an IS with beige.... Where is best place to look for replacement seats? My interior is neat, just need a better drivers seat and new belts as they are filthy! Breakers?
  20. Can anyone recommend a sealant to use when I put my headlights back together? Do we need to use a thermally activated one incase I ever need to take them apart again or will any silicone sealer suffice? Ideally want one that is close the OEM seal - what has everyone used?
  21. Indeed it would be nice to know im using something that has already been proven to work without probs :-D
  22. Just a shame that my local Toyota dealership (Jemco - Sidcup) is on the same site as the Lexus dealership...as they share their service garage I doubt I will get away with booking a "Toyota" service......boooo!
  23. Excellent tip there!! Thanks! Shame there isnt a quick DIY for the AC to.....£40-45 for an AC gas recharge round my area....anyone found it cheaper?
  24. thats the one....muchas gracias!! does anyone know the procedure for renewing brake fluid? do you just simple bleed the system using a bottle of new fluid and repeat till all the rotten fluid tops coming out?
  25. Hi all, I have Goodridge lines ready to go on this weekend.....when I bought them a while ago I found a guide posted by someone on swapping the lines but cant find it now? Anyone know the link or have one of their own? Gonna be renewing brake fluid when I do this to....any advice? Or just simply bleed brakes until clean fluid appears at each corner? Cheers
