  1. I see more 430's in the Dundee area than 400's - not that I see many of either. Pete
  2. Got mine MOT'd today. MOT tester (mate) picked up a loose N/S rear wheel bearing which tightened easily enough to remove play. General underneath was fine with a lot less corrosion than pics above, but I'm sure next year will see some suspension bushes. All in all, not bad for an almost 15 year old car. Emissions were minimal too. There was a newish mazda in getting track rods ends and other bits and pieces fitted which he said was typical of newer cars. Modern gaiters etc seem to only last a year such is the quality of modern rubber. Pete
  3. The roads these days are atrocious - so easy to get a stone hitting the windscreen. Pete
  4. Speed limits are now very similar to ours, and sometimes higher. 70 on speedo is 70 on sat nav. Pete
  5. Any car (including a Toyota Camry) I have hired whilst on holiday in the US has always matched my sat nav speed, so why is the Lexus so far out? My old Saab 9000 Griffin was almost spot on too. I run 235/55 x17's and even with these it over reads by about 3 mph at a sat nav 70 increasing gradually as they wear to about 75 - worse with original fit tyres. Pete
  6. I've now had 2 sidelight bulbs go out now - so much for lexus reliability - I want a refund lol. There is no warning of sidelight bulb failure - I was surprised by this too. Pete
  7. Mine has some rust in both top corners of the window area - no idea why as the rest of the car is rust free. I may bite the bullet and replace the screen and get it fixed next year. Pete
  8. I'll update you on the mileage I get out the current rear replacements. I'll be delighted if they do over 10k. Pete
  9. I constantly have folk walking out in front of me in car parks, so am now aware. What I can't understand is cars pulling out in front of me at junctions - obviously they don't mind a 2 ton enema lol Pete
  10. VW group of cars do seem to suffer from electrical glitches - one reason alone that would make me steer clear. Pete
  11. Hi Mike, you've commented on my mileage before - it's totally accurate as I keep a record of such things. The Lexus is the hardest user of tyres (and front discs) of any car I've owned over the last 42 years, but I suppose that's a small price to pay for other good things about it . Nothing wrong with my car btw, but we'll see how the newer Falkens last. Pete
  12. I fitted 2 Falken 914's to the rear to replace the 912's that were fitted - I believe this is the new model. I only managed 8572 miles on these rears though - fronts are still fine at nearly 10,000. I've used Falkens for a while now and find that grip is great, but life isn't. Pete
  13. Cruise contol on my LS is the best I've experienced on any car. I recently averaged 31.9 mpg on a trip to York and back - cruise used most of the way. Pete
  14. Well, I've just ordered a pair of Falken 914's (new version of 912's) so we'll see if they last better. 235/55 x17 - £117 fitted from Black Circles. Pete
  15. I'm sure that the traction control and diff are working as they should as both tyres have similar amount of wear and wear pattern. It's just the tyres in my opinion. Pete
  16. I run all my tyres at 32psi, and yes I fitted 4 at the same time - fronts are fine. Traction control very seldom kicks in, and I'm not one for trying to spin the rears (on the Lexus anyway). I thought Michelins gave decent wear, but it's good to get personal experiences to make an informed judgement. Pete
  17. I would get tracking checked if tyre wear was uneven, but it's not. Pete
  18. My Saab Turbo did well over 25,000 miles on it's tyres - even the fronts - and my driving style hasn't changed - it's a mystery. I'll report on how the Michelins do once I fit them next month. Pete
  19. I tell no fibs. I put them on soon after I bought the car and the mileage was 99K there is 136K on the clock now so unless my maths are wrong (which they could be at my age) its 35K. Mike Impressive mileage - perhaps the roads up here are more abrasive - I only get 3,000 miles out of my rear bike tyre on our roads. My V8 Morris Minor is still running on tyres (265/50 x15 BF Goodridge) at least 10 years old with almost no wear, despite numerous trips up the dragstrip and probably over 20,000 miles. Pete
  20. Tyres are wearing perfectly evenly, just very quickly. I don't drive the car hard, so I suppose I'm sacrificing grip for wear. The Pirellis that were on before only lasted around 10,000, but they weren't good grip wise. I'm running 235/55 x17's. Pete
  21. As I said, that's my third set, and i don't drive hard. I can't believe 35,000 when I see how fast mine disappear - 235/55 x17's :D Pete
  22. I've got Falken 912's (on my third set) on my LS 400 - great tyres, quiet and with excellent grip. Downside is that the rears last 8,000 miles. I'm going to replace the rears soon with Michelins in the hope of better longevity. Pete
  23. It was all cleaned prior to disc fitment, but I'll strip the lot down and see whats what. Pads aren't even half worn yet, but I may replace them with Ferodo parts to see if it helps. Pete
