  1. Don't forget they only work when the headlights are on. Think they work of a motor
  2. Would suggest its the coil packs then. I would suggest getting some new or known wokring ones and fitting them. I had the PO301, PO302 and PO174 codes a while back changed the coil packs and all good
  3. P0174 System Too Lean (Bank 2) You say that you swapped coil packs? HAve you fitted new or know working ones as this could be the problem. The new fault will be due to the other problems I would think.
  4. I don't believe that. I need to see proof. And if it were the case then surly the would be some sort of electronic wizardry to stop over revving from cold etc. I couldn't agree more, Knitware So what you are saying is if I rev a car it will blow the headgasket out. What a load of old rubbish
  5. My first question is, Why is the fan making a noise if the head gasket has gone? If the head gasket goes you get a drop in coolant level, a drop in engine power, oil and water mixing. A head gasket is either broken or not. As for not revvin when cold, thats not right. If the ehad gasket is not a good fit then you would get a car with no coolant in when left over night. A head gasket seals the join between the block and the head at all times even when cold, hence why the headbolts are torqued up, to sandwich the headgasket.
  6. Means the ECU ahs detected a fault. You need to get it plug in with a code reader to find out what the problem is
  7. Not to sure on the exact capacity on an IS but when mine was empty it did take about 3litres to fill it up
  8. There you go http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/LEXUS-IS200-2-0-24V-1GFE-99-05-THERMOSTAT-COOLING-/390193249418?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item5ad9547c8a
  9. I think you need something on the rear bumper like phone number etc
  10. Well those codes are P0300 Random/Multiple Cylinder Misfire Detected P0301 Cylinder 1 Misfire Detected P0302 Cylinder 2 Misfire Detected P0303 Cylinder 3 Misfire Detected P0304 Cylinder 4 Misfire Detected So coil packs is first place to start
  11. Cost is down to the finish and detail. Check out something like that against a cheap alternative no comparison.
  12. That means theres a fault with the ecu. Need to get it plug in and read the code to see whats wrong would think they might have caught something when swapping parts
  13. As said above how could they not find the leak as they should have pressure tested it to check for leaks. The stuff they put in could have blocked something but check the stat as above. Also leave the car to stand and see if the temp goes up above the normal level when stationary.
  14. The same fault has to appear 3 times befoe it lights up. If it was me for peace of mind I would want to see if there was any faults as doing the cambelt would not mean the ecu would reset itself.
  15. Are those "experts" both deaf? No way is that an injector issue
  16. You need to check the codes on the ECU, this will tell you why the light is on and whats wrong
  17. I'd get the thing plugged in just to check there are no faults. You might have knocked something in the process
  18. I would think that the damage has already been done by the sound of it. I recon the cambelt is out a tooth or two and it may get expensive if thats the case, bents valves, pistons could be knackered etc. Check the timing marks are right first
  19. Superharger for that power and about £2000-3000 Could even try a turbo buts thats alot more work
  20. If its got eml light on then you need to read the codes first and see what the cu tells you and get some bloody anti freeze in it now
  21. Get some stretch on the rim and you sort that out and it will look mint as well
  22. Defo go for the trolley jack or loads of mates approach. if that had been by me then the thing would be a shell by now as the local kids would ahve had a field day breaking into that and smashing it up :winky:
  23. I third that does sound like a slipping clutch
  24. All cars use more fuel in the cold until up to temp
  25. Should have an amp behind the glove box. The cable I got was from ebay, also don't forget the lead http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Lexus-is200-se-sport-amplifier-pass-amp-lead-adaptor-/110614966118?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item19c12a6f66 I used the one above and works perfect, getting the cable out the back of the amp can be a right arse so undue the 2 bolts holding the amp on might be better. Also one of these http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/LEXUS-200-300-CD-STEREO-RADIO-FASCIA-FACIA-KIT-IS200-/250666907542?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_FasciaPlates_SM&hash=item3a5ce97796 and a head unit, job done
