  1. I agree with deckie77. the ad states that you disconnect the cables in the amp and then use that cable to connect the stero this to me is by passing. Also I don't think it would work right if an aftemarket headunit was connected direct to the amp as most aftermarket headunit have their own in built amp that powers the speakers so not sure how it would work with a double amp set up would think it might blow the speakers
  2. Don't use white spirit. Try some tar remover first also try using a clay bar as this will also help remove it
  3. As above sounds like the thermostat is staying closed and no water is circulating roound the rad to be cooled. Or when it gets warm do the fans kick in, they might have forgotten to reconnect the fans. You need to get it sorted asap as overheating can lead to a failed head gasket as well
  4. Not a bad price from a dealer for doing a cambelt that
  5. I'm just down the road near J9 of the M6
  6. Well mines got 161 thousand on it and only problems I;ve had for 6 months are a coil pack go. I do need to sort out my brakes but that cause I hammer them :) My car still drives like new and feel so well built it unreal no knocks, rattles or bangs :)
  7. Would ahve thought so. You can generally on most decent headunits
  8. A machine is really the only way to get a full correction. Check out detailingworld.co.uk and see the work there. Some details can take 2-3days to do properly
  9. Don't need a light to tell me I have a passenger with no seat belt
  10. For a DA best to work in 12-18inch areas at a time. Dab the polish on 4 times to make your self a grid to work to spread at speed 2 (no pressure) move quick just to spread out polish. Then at speed 5 until the polish is clear (dependent on polish) but put a black marker pen line on the back of the pad holder this will indicate how quick the pad is turning. When appliying the polish apply enough pressure so the black mark rotates about 1/2 times per second. I work from left to right in my imaginary box then up and down and repeat until polish is gone.
  11. Its sounds like it not wired up right. The bypass cable must be connected to the connector removed from the back of the amp then this feeds the power and signal cables to the headunit. I see your in birmingham I could pop over and take a look if you liked?
  12. I had a similar fault when I had a new centre sectino fitted, and a few weeks alter it was blowing and coming up with ECU error codes. I say check all the joints first
  13. To fit an aftermarket headunit you need an amp bypass lead from somewhere like ebay. This need to be connected to the large lead that connects into the amp. Then the other end will plug into any standard stereo Iso Connector. You need to bypass the amp becuase the standard unit is not powder so the amp sends the signal to the amp which then gets boosted to the speakers. An aftermarket headunit has its own amp internally so it does not need the Lexus amp to boost the signal, hence the bypass lead
  14. As above you need to get the codes from the ECU to see whats wrong
  15. You'll be needing some new coils packs then. Did you reset your ecu between swapping them round. Had PO300 and 301 last week. New coil pack and its all better now :)
  16. Just been having a look on ebay a think my rear lambda is not the best. Anyone ever tryed any of these? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/TOYOTA-LAMBDA-SENSOR-CELICA-AGYO-IS200-IS300-GS-LEXUS-/160417316768?cmd=ViewItem&pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item25599dffa0 http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Lambda-O2-Oxygen-Sensor-LEXUS-200-2-03-1999-07-20-/290430204597?cmd=ViewItem&pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item439efd3ab5 Also are the lambda's front and rear the same? And when changing the rear one is it best to disconnect the battery to stop the airbags potentially going of when moving the drivers seat? Cheers
  17. God I'm so happy that I work on my car myself. Saves me so much money and hassle it untrue :)
  18. This is the one I have http://www.cleanyourcar.co.uk/polishing-machines/das-6-pro-dual-action-polisher/cat_81.html
  19. All I can say is what? Is this a good thing or not?
  20. Do you mean the outer ring or the little orange lights that show AC on, recirculate etc etc? I've got LED for my outer ring lights and there fine at night
  21. Only one place for you to start, www.detailingworld.co.uk I would say get a DA polisher in a kit from places like cleanmycar.co.uk, do your research first and don't jump straight in. I've used chemical guys hex logic pads and Menz polish to great affect. Also don't forget the two bucket method, clay, micro fibres etc etc I'd say you need to spend a minimum of £200-300 for a decent load of detailing kit.
  22. If it pulls to the left whilst driving with no breaks on then it can also be the tracking is out, there could be a drop link issues or suspension issue. I'd check them all out first before looking at the brakes in isolation
  23. Cheers guys. Trying to hunt one down as we speak. Also am I right that cylinder 1 if the front (as in nearest the rad) and 6 the back of the engine
  24. mattc
