  1. The M25 western section is now 4 lanes in either direction and they tend to sit in lane 3 now. I quite often just travel along the empty lane 1 at 70 and stay well away. It's like a one way valve, once they get out to a lane they don't want to drop back ?
  2. Last ban I waited until it did rain and then went out in the waterproofs with a 'bucket of bubbles' and washed it in the rain. A sort of wash & rinse simultaneously. I actually have done that before when I'm pushed for time, the softer rain water doesn't need leathering down either. I do get funny looks from peeps going past to the shops though
  3. The other thing to note is that it costs little more to build a large car than a small car, labour wise. The price differences mean that there must be a much larger profit in a £19k Mondeo than a £9k Fiesta ?
  4. Tony will put the car on the ramp and then position all the 4 sensors with military precision. You will then see most of the dials on the computer screen go red - then Tony will explain (as only Tony can) about the factory geometry regime and why they are mostly red. Then with surgical precision he will adjust all wheels until all the dials are green. You will then get the warning about turning left out of STS and steering straight into the kerb :D
  5. Funny how Volvo appear top and bottom with different models !
  6. Staying Nope - In the mornings: A312 (Hayes By Pass) M4 M25 A320
  7. The advantage of buying a Lexus secondhand is that you stand a much better chance of it having been looked after properly by the previous owner. As far as reliability is concerned, mine is now 26 months old, completed 23K, and it is the first car I have owned that has never had to go back for something to be fixed. The rear seat is Isofix so carrying children is perfectly safe. Go for it - you know it makes sense :)
  8. I thought most of them were 'wash & wax' ? ps: wanna see a filthy dirty blue one in Woking ?
  9. What about these shampoos with built in wax ?
  10. It is, I've used Nero versions 5 thru 7 and all have allowed me to change the burn speed on the final dialogue box. I also recommend burning at 2x or 4x max. Plus, don't forget that this time of year can cause the cd's to mist over if you take them from a warm room to a cold car.
  11. Used to be a nightmare between junctions 11 (Chertsey) and 15 (Heathrow) where I travel every day but since the road widening it has been reasonably clear. I still have the luxury of being able to do silly hours to keep out of the main rush hour though. Interesting to see the Porsche that lost it last evening in the rain on the M4 eastbound between junctions 4a (Heathrow) and 3 (Hayes).
  12. That's an interesting point. I was given a loaner whilst mine was in service for the day, and I'm glad I did. As I have stated before, that bl***y foot operated handbrake (auto's only) put me right off. Plus I kept banging my left knee against the hard centre console that sits a lot higher than current. Finally the extra size means it doesn't easily fit the garage, it would be a struggle. I do hope the rumours about a BS are true and that it has a proper handbrake.
  13. Let's hope they don't expect us to start driving on the right If they did they may phase it with buses and lorries starting on a Monday with cars following the next day :D
  14. My fine tune also revealed some small adjustments required. The surprising thing for me was the requirement to run at 35psi 'cold' to get the tyres to wear evenly across the tread.
  15. Best of luck Tony Expensive equipment though :o Being as you did mine recently, if you need a donor car to check old against new let me know
  16. And there you have it in a nutshell, the price proves it. It's like comparing a Rover 45 against the Rover 75, no comparison.
  17. Thanks I'll let the weather warm up and I wil probably go for it. All I need is the bonnet and front bumper resprayed with some better protection than the original paint. Although now the M25 roadworks have finished I have not noticed any more chips.
  18. Just off the A40 Even nearer to me than I thought. I am now seriously tempted........................ Thanks Hando Do you have the address because for some reason their website is banned by my companys Websense
  19. I'm not surprised. I did forecast some time ago when the cheapest model sprang from circa £18K to circa £23K that sales would dip after the initial rush. With the most desirable model now hitting £30K I think Lexus is now a niche company more so than before. What cannot help is the reported niggles and the weekend 'Auto Mundial' test where they stated that whilst the IS250 is good, it is not as good as the new 3 series !
  20. Tony You state "what else can I do" You can never be overprotected. Suggest : Adaware Spybot Windows Defender These check slightly different things and will compliment your Norton checking.
  21. Of all the recent Norton releases the 2005 one was particularly troublesome for some. Fortunately the 2006 version seems a lot better. To totally remove Norton follow the above advice and then download the removal utility from Symantec. This utility follows up the uninstall with a complete registry and file/folder scan and finishes off. Norton is particularly awkward because it is so embedded.
  22. The most recent email scams seem to be Alliance & Leicester & Halifax. I delete every one without even reading them. If any bank want's to contact you urgently they will phone you. Even then, don't divulge any personal information - always phone them back on a number you know is genuine or go to the local branch. There have been recent attempts where a phone call will inform you that someone is making a lot of purchases on your card. They already have your card number and phone number from their investigations. All they require from you now is your 3 digit security number from the reverse of the card and they are away. Never ever tell anyone the security number on the reverse of your card over the phone (especially if they phoned you).
  23. I've always found that those little green sponge/scourers are ideal for the glass. I tend to use fairy liquid on the scourer side and small circular movements with sufficient fairy to ensure that it doesn't run down the glass onto any paintwork. I suppose vinegar would probably be better.
  24. If you used the foot operated handbrake just for parking then you would fail your driving test every time. Whenever I come to rest, whatever the situation I put on the handbrake. Being controversial, I would go as far as to say that sitting in a queue at traffic lights with your foot firmly planted on the brake pedal is bad driving ?
