  1. Hi Steve, Thanks for that. Will check later today. Would still be good to know if they're the same
  2. Hi, can anyone tell me if the lower suspension ball joints are the same on the mk3 and mk4? Spoke to Lexus and they tell me the part numbers are different! I also asked if they looked the same but the assisstant says they look different. I spoke to a parts store and they say they're the same so I'm confused. I'm hoping they're the same because i've found a set that are half the price of what Andrew Page are selling for. Can someone please confirm for me. Thnaks in advance B
  3. If your car is lower at the rear, how would putting a lower profile tyre on the rear of the car help? You'd make the rear even lower! Series 50 profile tyres will be far too big for a 19" wheel to maintain the rolling radius against the original specification. You could try a 45 profile on the rear, and a 40 profile on the front, but I still think the car will look odd with 19" wheels and stock suspension. Sorry, what I meant was 50 on the rear and 45 on the front!! lol I know what you mean. Which springs will suit the ls? I will probably lower the front a little more than the back. Will lowering my car affect the ride? I don't really want to loose the comfortable ride. Worst case I will have to sell the 19s and go for maybe the 18s off an ls430 2004 type. Like the silver one above :)
  4. You're car looks sweet (lowrideruk) :) I will check the width of the wheels tomorrow and post up here. True, the car will look silly with standard suspension and low profile tyres on it. I currently have a bazuka in the boot (120 litre lpg tank) so suspension is lower than the front! I don't really fancy messing with the suspension. Would I be able to get away with putting a higher profile tyre on? I know it will look a little weird but wont affect the ride too much. With maybe a 50 on front and 45 on rear? Thanks in advance
  5. Hi Steve, the wheels are ET30 and were originally on a Toyota Supra mk4. My suspension is standard and it will probably stay that way. Hope this helps. Thanks :)
  6. If it helps, the mk3 fits the mk4 ls400. I changed the ac pump on mine and now has a mk3 one fitted. The part numbers are different.
  7. Hi all, Can somebody recommend tyre sizes for me please. Currently they have 235/35/19 on front and and 265/30/19 on rear (not on my car). Just wondering if they will fit without rubbing/catching on the arches etc. I was thinking either 255/40/19 all round or 255/45/19? Anyone got 19s on their car? I missed a set of ls430 18s 5 spoke (gutted) I know the ride will change but if it's that bad, I'll be back on the 16s till I can get some DHPs or ls430 wheels :) Thanks in advance
  8. Hi Wessel, Lexus do a towbar for the mark 4 as a friend of mine had one on his car at a price of I think it was £1200 or something silly from new (He didn't buy it, it came with his car and he had the invoice). I'm sure someone on here will be able to advise you on where you can get one. Also there was something about needing an oil fitting when using a towbar (to cool the gearbox down).
  9. Hi Norm and welcome to the LOC. Great choice. You'll love the car. You want to get it out on a long run, they drive brilliant. Even better if you can get somebody to drive you :) I have so far only done one oil change and used 5w 30 Fully synthetic GM oil (from Vauxhall Dealers). This was just to get the old oil out because it needed changing, quick.
  10. Hi Scribe and welcome to the LOC. Hope your search goes well and you get one soon. You should take one out for a drive and see how good they are. Everyone has different opinions about the mark 3 and 4. I have the 4 and one thing that nearly give me a heart attack was the cost of headlight bulbs!! They come in at £166 + Vat each :tsktsk: Take into account the Vat's probably going up next year to 20% I think I'll probably just get some headlight bulbs off ebay for about £20 each as nearly £400 for a set is a crazy price to pay. My mate has a 2003 Bmw 330d Sport and his xenon bulbs cost £250 approx. for the pair from Bmw.
  11. Still not been to get my lpg serviced and have clocked up 3300 miles!! Spoke to my installer and he says it's ok to drive as nothing seems to be wrong with it. I have worked out I get approx. 20mpg from lpg on the motorway. I filled up at £0.55 a litre of lpg and managed to get 108 litres in my car. I got back from my trip and filled up again and it took 103 litres. Out of the fuel, I managed to clock up 466 miles (prob. 20 miles local driving). Not bad at all as it cost me £57 approx. for 470 miles. It's like running a diesel car :winky: Not sure how much it would work out comparing to petrol. The mpg is probably a lot more, but I've worked it out for the lpg. Oh yeah, I travelled at between 80-105mph all the way down (half the journey0 and mate drove back at approx. 85mph using the cruise control. Just wondering what mpg I would've got if travelling at 55mph?
  12. Hi, I have tried an avensis sat nav box (pre 2003 cd based) with an ancient nav disc to get a blank screen in my car so don't think that works. Maybe because of the older disc nothing came up on the screen
  13. Hi mate, Good stuff. The arms aren't cheap. I had a problems sourcing some rear control arms on a previous lexus. What a nightmare! I struggled to find some in breakers and the ones I found had the same problems. Not cheap from Lexus so in the end I lost a lot of money and sold the car, but better in the long run as I got my mk4 :winky:
  14. Hope the car doesn't cost you too much to put through the test SJ. If you go for the gas, make sure you go to someone who knows what they're doing. I had a very bad first experience , the guy was a right butcher and left a right mess under the bonnet. The LS already has many wires there so potentially could *&^% things up on the car!
  15. There is a big saving when using the lpg, but you need to be doing the miles or keep the car for sometime for it to start paying back. It is the only way I can afford to run a 4.0 litre at the cost of running a diesel.
  16. Are you sure that is right BHT? 575 mile on £55 of petrol??? Thats about 54mpg! Sorry SJ, I think I was in another conversation talking to someone at the same time as typing!! What I meant was £65 I got 575 miles on the motorway.
  17. My Uncle got 500 miles on his mark 3 LS (singlepoint Romano system) off £55 with car fully loaded and with 2 suitcases travelling approx. 60-70 mph.
  18. Lpg all the way for me. I've been using it for the last 6 or so years and also sell the lpg. I've had my system fitted recently (Romano N). Need to get the first checkup done which I've not had time to do!! I worked out off £100 of petrol, I got approx 500 miles and on another occasion motorway driving (mainly 80mph) and sometimes upto 100 we managed 575 miles off £55 petrol. 500 miles on lpg costs me approx. £70 on lpg so there is a £30 saving on one trip. I sometimes cover nearly 2000 miles in a week so for me it's definitely worth it. My Aristo TT on lpg I would get 200 miles from £23 lpg (Modded to 400 bhp) and that was quicker than Lamborghini Gallardo's :winky: No power loss and that was a BRC 56 Multipoint sequential system.
  19. Hi Jeff, PM me some details and pics of your car along with price and I'll ask around for you (in trade). Go for the Premium Pack LS430 as it comes with the rear massage seats, electric rear blind and a few other things (some have the multimedia option). I wanted a LS430 but didn't go for one purely because of the air suspension. It will probably be very reliable but I do a lot of miles and was paranoid of it going wrong (not a cheap fix), so went for a mark 4 LS. B
  20. Everyone who comments on my MKIII remarks as to how quiet the engine sounds and, when I tell them its done 188k, they are gobsmacked. That mileage is a walk in the park for your LS. It will easily do 600k + I reckon as long as maintained. 188k would scare some people though. We (Dad had a for sale car) had an IS200 Sport about 8 years ago with approx. 166k on it (mostly motorway) that drove and sound better than my mates new one with only 6k on it.
