I put one CD in my 6 CD changer when I first got the car - its still there and I never play it, everything is on my USB stick. What we need now is a better way to navigate around that mass of data. Currently I only have the option to select next/previous folder or next/previous track. (Any different on yours?) What we need is a search/selection facility. To be honest with you I don’t really listen to any particular music, my daughter put half a dozen CD’s on the USB for me and what ever is playing I listen to. You can apparently according to the manual select artists or song titles using the voice control but at the moment I am just happy to get the car moving. Lol.

I haven’t driven many miles yet (only 140 ) and only 10 of these miles were on the motorway, but so far I am very impressed. The seats are 18 way adjustable so its not to hard to get comfortable, the side bolsters are adjustable and although I don’t tend to go round corners that fast I find they keep you held in the seat a lot better, in the Mk3 even going round a corner at a sensible speed it was like sitting on a space hopper and you found yourself trying to sit upright. I an just over 6 feet tall and even with the sunroof there is plenty of headroom, there is also good head and leg room for the rear passengers, although if you have 3 in the back the middle person, especially if it’s a adult might find it a bit uncomfortable due to the wide drive train tunnel. I was a bit concerned that with 19” wheels and low profile tyres the ride may be a bit hard but I would say it is just at smooth as the MK3 until you put it in sports or sports+ mode then it is a lot firmer, although I think a lot of this is due to the much stiffer body, with much less body roll than the MK3 even in normal & eco mode. The steering is a lot lighter and more precise than the MK3 and with the rear wheel steering in sports+ even more so. The interior looks stunning and everything feels solid, the multi media screen and mouse drive takes a bit of getting use too, but once it is adjusted to your own preference works well. The Mark Levinson sound system is amazing, although I was a little disappointed to find it was only a single play disc not like the MK3 a 6 disc holder, that was until my 16 year old daughter explained to me about using a USB, beyond me but she has put all my CD’s on a USB stick and it plays superbly. As a hybrid it is supposed to do a combined figure of 45 mpg, so far I have only managed to get it to 35mpg but I only do 5/6 mile trips and I hope this will improve as time goes on. Hi, I test drove the GS 250 while waiting for my 450h to be delivered, at the time they didn’t have any 450h demos, and was quite impressed with the cars performance considering the weight of the car to the power output. I had a 2008 GS450h and that was good, but this new one is better in every way and although I have only covered 150 miles I have managed to get 35mpg, not too bad as I only do 5/6 mile trips, I am hoping to get that up to nearer 40mpg as time goes on. And as for customer care I don’t think your beat Lexus

That is not really scratch remover, if you have a deep scratch that product is ok but designed to fill the scratch with transparent lacquerer, and if the scratch is down to the base coat then you will have to fill in the scratch with a coloured felt tip pen ( a colour as close to your paint match as possible) then apply this product. But if the scratch is that deep then I would get the proper touch up paint from the Lexus dealership and use that instead. I no in the USA your can buy a pen that has the paint colour of your car in one end and the clear coat in the other but I am not sure about here in the UK. When I go and pick up my car mats next week I will enquire about that. If its only a light scratch then I would use a meguiar’s product. http://www.theultima...scratch+remover I have used this before and it works quite well. On the other hand if it’s a bad scratch, deep scratch or right in the middle off a panel then I would probably call out the professionals. Good luck Chris

Hi Jake It’s a tough choice, when I got my car in 2008 they wanted £1096 for 4 services witch I thought was good value at £275 per service, although I did have to travel 100 mile round trip to this dealership as my local dealership could only get the same 4 service package down to £1570, around £120 per service more, so it was worth the extra trip and it was a day out. So as you can see, defiantly shop around. The same dealership on my new car have quoted me £1258 for a 4 service package, I am still waiting for my local dealership to come back to me with a quote. I am not sure weather to take out a service plan or not, my brother in law always rings around different dealerships and fights one off against another, sometimes if a dealership is a bit short on work they off special offers, and I don’t think he has ever paid much more than me. So defiantly shop around. On the other hand once your Lexus warranty has expired are you going to extend it?, if not with your low annual mileage do you really need to service the car every year,? Perhaps just a oil and filter change every 12 months and a main service every 10,000 miles. I only cover 4500 miles a year and think it a bit silly having it serviced every year, but you don’t have a choice if the car is under warranty. Some people would argue that a full Lexus stamped service book will give you a better return when you come to sell the car and I would agree, but only up to say 5/6 years old, after that I don’t think it will make much difference especially if you can still show a oil change every year and a full service every 10,000 miles, so again to me it would depend on how long you intend to keep the car. Hi, Jake I brought a 4 year service plan when I got my old car back in 2008, at the time I was contemplating keeping the car 5 years. I had 3 options when I PX the car last week, I had 1 service left on it ( I had used 3) 1….transfer the value left service plan onto the new service plan for my new car 2….transfer the service plan to another person ( if I had sold the car privately ). 3….get a refund on the amount of money left on the plan, minions a administration fee of £25. Well the day has finally arrived. I eagerly watched the grand reveal of the new GS at pebble beach in August 2011, and placed my order in February 2012, now the car is finally ready for collection ,tomorrow. GS 450h f sport / Nebula Grey / Cabernet / Sunroof / ML

The £105 fee includes the registration fee and to put your private number plate on a retention certificate. So it wont cost you any more money to either, put it on another car or back onto your car if you decide not to change it, except for the cost of the number plates for your 57 plate car. If you have kept the original number plates off your 57 plate car when you put the private plates on, then there is a high chance your car will have the same number plate reassigned to your car. So you wont have to buy any new ones. Chris

Hi, I took my private plate of my car a couple of months ago as I thought I would have a go at selling the car privately, it only took around 10 days for the new registration, MOT and tax disc to come through and another 7 days until I got the retention certificate with my private plate on. I am not sure if I have understood you main question completely but I would assume that if you did not sell the car or decided to keep it you can just reassign your private plate back to your car as you would to any car. Hi, as far as I can remember my GS300 air con only went down to 16 degrees and my 450h defiantly only goes down to 16 degrees, so yes I would say that is normal. As for your disc replacement I would say your local mechanic would do just as good a job, perhaps if your car was under a Lexus warranty it would be a different matter, you seem to have your services at Lexus so you service record book is all stamped up witch will be a good selling point if you ever decided to sell it. If it was me I think I would get him to use genuine Lexus parts, just to avoid any other possible problems accruing. Chris

Hi , sorry to hear about your damage, people just don’t seem to respect other peoples property any more. It really depends on how deep the scratch is, and if your car has a clear coat applied, witch would depend on how old your car is. If you can run your finger nail over the scratch and your nail catches in the scratch then I am afraid you wont be able to get rod of it completely, but you should be able to reduce the look of it. I tend not to use scratch remover on clear coated cars as it can remove the clear coat and damage the paint, a good polish and elbow grease tends to do the trick. If it’s a light scratch and your car does not have clear coat then there are lots of different scratch removers on the market, just go easy with them and remember to give the area a good two or three coats of polish when you have removed the scratch. Ps…a clear coat is a clear lacquer applied to fairly new cars that have water based paint, not like older cars that have oil based paint witch is a lot harder. Chris

Mines is up for sale, low mileage 2008 (58) only 16,500 miles £16,000 you will have to be quick though it will be px on 5th June see classified section. Chris

Agree with you Mikey In my view the three presenters each have there own favourites and will just cut down any other manufacture, the self parking feather on the LS was a prime example, not following the simple instructions and not placing the car in the correct position in the first place meant it didn’t have a hope in hell of parking itself correctly. Quinton Wilson is in fact a Lexus enthusiast and launched the new GS at my local Lexus dealership, and I had the opportunity to talk to him for sometime, he himself owned a LS for sometime and spoke of many times when he had to go and rescue Clarkson from a breakdown, so much so that the press got wind of it and had a headline, “ now who knows more about cars”. We all have our own opinion and experiences, I was a ford man for 25 years, would drive nothing else until I hired a car, I wanted a jaguar but that was all ready rented out so I was told it would be a Lexus GS 300 latargo, never herd of it I said. Since then I love them, have had 4 with no problems at all and just waiting for delivery of number 5. GS450h f sport.

welcome to the club Still waiting for my 450h f sport, should have been the middle of June, new date 5th July, wont hold my breath though.

The new 450h f sport is a great car, I took one out for a test drive yesterday, the old one was good but the new one is even better, I am awaiting delivery on mine, should be around the 5th July. As for the GS300h, I don’t dispute the fact that it looks like it may happen, what I don’t understand is why have brought out the GS250 now and not just left it until the 300h is lunched, it will be more powerful, less road tax and more economical than the 250 and according to the article around the same price.

I had quite a long chat with Quentin Wilson a few weeks ago when he helped with the grand revealing of the new GS at my local Lexus dealership, funny enough he was quite interested in my view of the new GS as I had already ordered one, he told me about his warranty company and that only 1% of the clams were from Lexus owners, His company sounded ok and I don’t think you would have any problems with clams, he is in fact quite a Lexus enthusiast. But the decision must be down to you.
