  1. The RX is being imported in low numbers. Some dealers have already sold their initial allocation and are waiting for the next allocation to take them through to next year. So why discount the price, there are enough customers who will pay full price.
  2. There was no recall. A TSB went out which means there is a fix and owners who complain will get it fixed under warranty. The early MKII GSs made a screeching noise in hot weather when the steering wheel was moved. Don't know of any grinding noise TSB. www.alldata.com is a good source for recalls and TSBs. Has anybody subscribed to this?
  3. Clean them first, make sure they are completly dry and just paint over them.
  4. The car is £15,000 from Lexus Swindon. It's a W/2000 UK sport with 19,000 miles. The sensors look like the standard ones and are in exactly the same place as mine.
  5. You had rear windows on your Supra B) OK the switches are the same front or rear and the MKIV supra and MKI GS300 shared many parts (almost every one!) so you should just be able to clean up the switch and replace.
  6. What points in the engine bay does it connect to?
  7. In Japan you have a large choice of options. So it depends what the owner ordered when it was new. Also some things are not as important in one country to another. Leather for example is not a big issue in Japan so it's an option and not standard. In the UK we have the choice of colour!
  8. The Lexus parking sensor. I removed the sensor covers from my wife's IS200, used the tin of paint supplied with my wife's car and dipped them in it. Looks much better now in silver than the black plastic.
  9. A 1994+ MR2T is 240bhp standard. Add a boost controller and intake and you have 280-300bhp for around £500. Add a new clutch, injectors, raise the fuel pressure add water injection and you will get 350bhp+ Speak to Fensport about an engine transplant. They do it to Corollas etc. They have a 3S-GTE in a corolla with 420bhp! They also import low mileage engines.
  10. Just had a look on Fensport web site. They list a Blitz supercharger for the Tezz. £2,500 cheaper than the turbo. www.fensport.co.uk Goto parts, select the Altezza and then engine tuning from the parts menu on the left.
  11. Does the Tezz use a 3S-GE engine? If so why not buy a crashed MR2T and drop the 3S-GTE into it.
  12. Bridgestone Potenza's S-03 are ultra high performance. Top of the range Bridgestones for road cars. As good as any in the dry and the best there is in the wet. Not the quietest tyre around and you won't get 20,000 miles out of them but that's normal for this level of performance.
  13. Toyotas have always been sensitive to incorrect torque of the wheel nuts. I have seen lots of documented cases of warped discs on MR2, Supras and a few Lexus due to too tight wheel nuts. I cannot remember the correct setting - it should be in the owners manual.
  14. I think it's £1000 overpriced because there is a SE auto with Sat Nav, 19,000 miles within M25 for £16,995 on the Lexus web site. If you don't mind 32,000 miles you can save another £1,500. Remember that Lexus dealers have big price markups so try and beat them down a bit.
  15. If the car was purchased as a Lexus approved used car then the dealer should have sorted the spare keys before it was sold. I would complain to Lexus, unless you agreed to only one key.
  16. What work/cost will be required for the cars to pass the SVA?
  17. If you press and hold the lock button all the windows and sunroof should close. Are you sure the unlock button wasn't stuck in or something?
  18. Are the two dealers part of the same company (e.g. both Inchcape)? If not then I would suggest going direct to the dealer who has the car. I have never found Lexus dealer co-operate very well. When I asked if a dealer could get me a car that was from another dealer he said he would try and then phone me up a day later and say the car was already sold. When I checked myself the orginal dealer still had the car. This happened twice to me! As for the price, I would say £1,000 too much.
  19. Changing the diameter of the wheel+tyre will throw out your speedo/odometer. Don't know if they will fit. You don't see too many GS with wheels bigger than 18" in the UK. Maybe worth asking people at clublexus in the US. There are many people there with 19" and 20" wheels.
  20. You have the expense of the 100,000 mile cam belt change soon. If buying from a dealer get them to do that as part of the deal. Get the ball joints checked as they could be worn. Haven't heard of any engine problems if serviced correctly. Exhaust is stainless steel so that shouldn't be a problem for years
  21. They may look the same but do they have the same len pattern? Not easy to tell unless you look at both together.
  22. HID are a little more complex than just the bulbs. If you were to plug a normal bulb on the HID wiring the 20,000+ ignition voltage would instantly blow it!
  23. That's a good saving. Does it have all the standard equipment a UK one would have? With regards to the HID question I think the lights must be self-leveling to stop you blinding on-coming traffic. There shouldn't be any requirement for washers and as UKPulse mentioned the styling kit for the IS300 removed the washers and all UK 300's have HIDs.
