  1. If the voltage goes up so will the Amps, not down. 10.08 A @ 13.2V
  2. http://www.vacs.co.uk. Not too far from you Claire.
  3. About 10A. 2 x 55W. Much higher than HIDs, which is why HIDs are better for fuel economy.
  4. HID kits cost around £500+. New bulbs + starter + control unit + self leveling unit are required. There are 'blue' bulbs available which are direct replacements for normal bulbs which give the appearance of HIDs.
  5. Not sure about T reg. Have a search on http://www.ALLDATA.com under Recalls and TSB is see if there is still mention of the sunroof. Many Toyota dealers won't service a Lexus if they also run the Lexus building next door but if you find one that does :D
  6. You won't find the GS as solid or well built because it isn't, although 2000+ models seem better. Rattles, wind noise and fidgetty suspensions are my complaints although the first two are mainly apparent because the car is so quite that you notice everything. Suspension on the 430 seems much better, maybe the 300 is better now although I haven't driven anything newer that 2001 model. You do get more space although rear headroom is not good for anybody over 6ft, hopefully your kids are not that big! If you have an auto IS200 then you shouldn't notice an increase in fuel costs.
  7. The exhaust is stainless so it shouldn't rust. The Lexus dealer should have put the car through an RAC inspection which would have highlighted this. What year is the car? Pre 2000 had sunroof rattle problems (I know mine does). There are TSBs about this. People in the US have had their complete sunroofs replaced because of rattles although I cannot see Lexus dealers in the UK doing this.
  8. When I brought a new battery from Lexus it came with a two year warranty so if your problem turns out to be the battery you should be able to get it replaced.
  9. Have you test driven an SC? Many owners love them and other people don't rate the drive. Personally I would get a GS430. Handling has improved over a '98 model although I don't know how good the 4.0l engine is the 4.3 is great.
  10. You really need to know the bhp before the mod on the same rolling road to get the increase as the actual figures they quote are estimates and can vary considerable.
  11. There is a sat nav department at Lexus that you can ring to get the latest version numbers and also to a loan disc, either a European country if you are going on holiday or the UK one so you can see if the latest one if worth purchasing etc. No charge for the loan, you just have to send it back via recorded delivery. I will post the phone number later as I don't have it to hand at the moment.
  12. When I got a new battery for my GS last year the parts department said they don't use amp hour anymore but cold starting performance. I will have a look in the IS manual later to see if it gives a value.
  13. I went to them to get a flat repaired and they managed to take a bit of the clear-coat off the wheel, when removing the tyre, which is now starting to corrode
  14. The AC should be good for many years. I can recommend VACS if you want a top up or just a check. http://www.vacs.co.uk and goto service and repairs section
  15. I have heard from several sources that the RAC inspections are much better than the AA ones.
  16. Why do people use Kwick Fit? Shop around and you will get better deals. Sorry Claire but if you went to Bracknell Tyre and Battery (which is only a few miles away from Slough) they would have cost £91.59 inc. valve, balance, fitting and VAT for the same tyre (SP9000 215/45x17)
  17. Have you managed put in 70 litres? I've never got more than 60 in it.
  18. My GS blows very cold within a few seconds of coming on, even this week. Better than any other car I have been in.
  19. Welcome, The Supra NA and MKI GS are almost the same car as they share many, many parts.
  20. I have heard from Scooby owners that Optimax goes off and looses it's RON as it get older, which is why they only say it's RON is above 98 and do not quote it's actual 99. Any truth in this?
  21. Loz, What tyres are you using? With regards to 300bhp I used Bridgestone SO-2 (now SO-3) on my Supra which was standard at 326bhp. Excellent grip (probably the best road tyre in wet or dry) but wear rate is high and also noise. They are not really suited to the GS, I have them on the front of mine but the noise is not right and the GS doesn't have the handling to make full use of them.
  22. The TTE anti roll bar kit is manufactured by Eibach. Don't know if it is cheaper buying the Eibach one?
  23. Yes the IS300 X has: front 215/45x17 rear 225/45x17 The IS200 X has: front/rear 205/55x16
