  1. Hi All, I have a 2010 Is200d i need to change my front pads & discs, was wondering what is good combination to have? I see eurocarparts are now selling Brembo which is slightly cheaper than pagid, and pagid being recommended? I'm after pads & discs which wont start sqeeking, last longing, good performance when braking.
  2. Hi Graham, I have tested this quiet a few times now it really comes down a few things, Distance Type of fuel I have a 2010 Is200d so may differ from you however I always use Shell Regular diesel I did a trip to London- Bradford during xmas time where I used 6th gear 70mph -80mph and I averaged around 52mpg, this kind of dropped on my return journey due to start/stop traffic. I normally use M1 for daily commute for around 10-15 miles either way, and can average around 40mpg with 15 miles dual carriway and town roads, however the other week i filled up the tank with Shell Fuel Save, and mpg dropped down to 38mpg, so i just keep driving in 5th gear and mpg dropped down 35mpg, then switched back to Shell Regular Diesel it went back up to 40 Mpg. I tend to drive in 5th gear at 70 mph when joining the mway or around dual carriage to give the dpf a clear out and get some extra power, i dont really see the soot coming out maybe its just hard to tell from the mirrors.
  3. I can't compare on the drive but I'm pretty sure you will get more for your money.
  4. If you're getting 50MPG from 2.5 V6 is would say that is very good, most owners from Lexus petrol /deisel owners would struggle to get it but then i can say for sure most lexus owners do not drive on m'way at 60 mph, it's far more fun putting the foot down :)
  5. @keith, I quiet like the function doors locking after 10/20mph however i did find when i was having issues with my battery (car battery not key battery) it wouldnt lock, after i changed the battery been working fine. I will have to check the book as you mention. @eric, I think you have misunderstand I'm not unlocking the doors from the inside with the key I'm using button on the drivers door.
  6. Hi, I have a IS200d and sometimes and i say once in a while, once im at my destination (home) and park up the car i press the unlock button, for some reason it only unlocks the drivers door, if you try locking and unlocking it doesnt make a difference, its quiet embarrasing when you got a nice luxury car with passengers inside and you have locked them inside lol, any ideas why this could be happening? Thanks
  7. Thanks John. According to Eurocarparts this is the battery required http://www.eurocarparts.com/ecp/c/Lexus_IS_2.2_2010/p/car-parts/car-electrics-and-car-lighting/electrical/car-battery/?444773357&1&326e4eca45043b10125925620e04ea60aaf4669c&000020 I believe lexus is charging £123 according to their website and comes with 5 year guarantee although if I go eurocarparts I will get discount as my cousin works for them. I'm borrowing battery tester off a colleague tomorrow will see what that shows then make a decison.
  8. my Lexus IS200d is 5 years old, my car failed to start yday evening once I was given a jump start from my shift manager, the car started up, how long should a Lexus battery normally last? Am I in my right to go to Lexus under warranty to have the battery tested/ replaced?
  9. There was me thinking it was for the parking sensors, my bad lol
  10. I just had my car serviced by Lexus edgware road they advised me my rear calipers are not playing free as they should and likely to sieze which cost £550.01 however they have advised me if you have the extended warranty it is covered, lucky for me I took out the extended warranty back in Dec 2014 so valid until Dec 2016. They will only replace it under warranty once its siezed not earlier.
  11. I use chemical guys inner clean for the dashboard and plastics trims and Chemical guys Leather cleaner for the seats, Take a look at www.chemicalguysuk.com they got loads of vids on youtube. aswell
  12. I think it will very rare to find one if you're lucky you may a set in breakers yard if someone has written off the car. I think there is more IS-F in the US may have some luck on importing a set but will be pricy. If you're on facebook if you join the Lexus IS Owners Club there maybe someone on there.
  13. dont worry this hasn't put me off from keeping or buying another lexus.
  14. yeah the AA guy called one of his senior who said they saw one car where it was interferring with the someone home boiler at that point the moment they moved the car off the drive way it started working fine, I didn't believe when he first said it, but from speaking to a few people it sounds like its common issue with Lexus, but hasn't been noticed or any other manufacturers? If not what is Lexus doing differently?
  15. Yeah He did check the battery with the meter seemed to be ok, he even tried resetting the ECU by disconnecting battery for a min to see if that help which it didn't.
  16. I believe they are just held in with clips, you just want to be careful when taking them out as they can easily break. when I had my toyota corolla one day the wheel arch liner came off while driving down the motorway, so had to buy a new one quiet easy to put back on with clips. Also just remember which panel is overlapping which one.
  17. HI Guys, I was just wondering whether anyone else has been locked out of there Lexus? Today I was at work on my break walked over to the car and even thou i had they key fob on me i was unable to unlock the car, doors/or boot wouldn't open neither would the hazard lights come on when you try unlocking the car, i tthen tried to unlock boot with actual key no result. I tried to do take door handle cover off but it seemed stiff so didn't want to break it. so ended up calling the AA via Lexus they were out to me within 25 mins :) he then managed to open the door handle with flat screw driver which took a bit off force however the door would just automatically, evening starting the engine was struggle maybe it was engineer not sure, but the alarm kept going off. Finally got engine started but key alerting key not being recognised after resetting the ECU it managed to clear the error however still wouldnt let me lock/unlock car so we drove to lexus literlly 2 mins drive parked up car started working fine, managed to unlock relock, starting the car without holding the key fob next to button. AA and Lexus put it down interferance from another vehicle or object. I thought i share my experience with you guys.
  18. I change my rear's to Good Year EffiecientGrips yesterday and have noticed a remarkable difference between contintal tyres, the rider is much more smooth and quiet, I'm enjoying the drive/ride in them. Also tyre fitter advised recommeded these tyres as very good, by far better then Michellins which cost around £150!!! 2 x GoodYear EffGrip inc fitting cost £234 not bad cheaper and better than Continental & Michellins
  19. Take a look at chemical guy products loads of vids on youtube on how to use them properly.
  20. you could ask the mobile body repairs like chipsaway who come to your work/home and they roughly charge £50+ vat per corner
  21. I'm surprised Petrol is more expensive up north, in London Shell Regular Petrol 1.15
  22. Yeah I agree customer service Edgware road service team isn't great, their sales team however 10/10 on customer service, however I have heard very good reviews for Lexus Woodford. As your now service plan customer they can give you a courtesy car free of charge if you request one, you just need to provide both parts of your drivers license. I was told on the phone that i would get an IS250/IS300H but got nothing of the sort got a boring CT200H, very easy car to drive.
  23. Hi Sandeep, I assume you bought your Lexus Jemca Edgware Road, I took out the extended service on mine IS200d and if I recall correctly the paper work does mention the service should be done by lexus, if something does happen it should help you in the long run. I have taken out a service plan to spread the cost mine is roughly £37.45 a month which I have to pay over 2.5 years it maybe cheaper for you as you got a petrol, also depends on the annual mileage you do. Maybe worth getting quote from them they may also through in a free MOT if you ask.
