  1. I paid £79 from Marks & Sparks would have cost more in gas to get to J Lewis. I always wonder why people leave their brains behind when it comes to Fleabay. Mike
  2. Yes they do, new Ford Focus is one depends on spec. - I'm sure there are more. Just bought the Pure Highway which works by picking up the digital signal anmd the transmits it to your car arial, you tune your existing radio into the FM channel shown on the DAB and hey presto but I need to find somewhere to mount it other than the screen tomorrow, and also find a 12V feed so the Cig lighter isnt used. A trip to the Vehicle Lecky. Will post some pics when done. Mike
  3. How on earth do they hope this scam will work??? Mike The scam works like this. They arrange to meet you at an address, you turn up with a wad of cash & you get mugged for it. I nearly had it happen to me a couple of years ago in NW London. I am quite a big bloke & I had my mate who is bigger with me, we turned up at the address they new nothing about the car( end of a culdisack not overlooked) there were 4 blokes outside a lock up garage about 100 meters away( I think we were a bit too much for them to take on). It never ceases to amaze me the way the criminal mind works and the schemes their brains dream up, if only they could channel this in a law abiding manner. Well done you for having the common sense for taking someone with you. I often buy from Gumtree and will be a little more cautious as to who I buy from Good ol Ebay yet another scam vehicle for the scum of this planet to ride on. Mike
  4. Spend it as you normally do, the digital change over should not affect how you spend your money, if however you do get problems send the money to me and I will spend it for you :D As far as I know FM radio is staying for the foreseeable future and I think there are digital TV converters for cars but whether they are plug and watch I don't know. I should have qualified my post by saying that it was the cars radio rather than any indoor stuff. I am always tuned to Talksport except recently between 10am and 1pm. As they broadcast on MW I believe thats one of those radio bands that will be disappearing. Mike
  5. Which is going to be the best route to spend money on when the airwaves go digital?? Mike
  6. It's a good price Mike, just take that. Chaucer are a fantastic insurer as well. Ollie Sky Insurance Yup I have stayed with them. First time in years I've stayed with the same people back to back for years. I have always said that if something is required by law Road Tax, MOT, Insurance then like Road Tax and MOT to a certain extent should be supplied by the government. This would see a much fairer system with standard Bands at various set rates. At the moment its a free for all with many Insurance companies operating cartells which only ever profit, well you can guess who. Mike
  7. What a gem! The price may be high but I can't help thinking with that kind of background and history you really are getting what you pay for, and an exceptional car. Heated garage? we can only just afford to heat our house! Phil Ah the irony of owning an LS400. Mike
  8. Got to be worth a look although the price is sky high. http://www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C224956 Mike
  9. We that run and cosset our LS400's are the true world environmentalists and conservationists as to keep one LS 400 serviced and running properly is far cheaper many many times over on the environment in terms of the pollution than that that is caused in the making of a single new car even the wonderful Hybrid cars which the rich and famous love to be seen in, only when there are cameras around. We have lived in a throw away world for too long. Hold your heads up high as you waft along in your LS400 and remember if you want to reduce your carbon footprint, drive everywhere. Here endeth the lesson for today. Mike
  10. Its that time again and it arrived this morning via Tinternet from Chaucer Ins and what a surprise, its gone down by £63 to £301, Fully Comprehensive. 3 years ago I was been involved in an accident (Not at fault) when a 16 ton truck took a dislike to my Grand Cherokee Jeep and came at me straight out of a side street. Written off MOT took place 2 months ago and No advisories and she passed with flying colors. I have since replaced the front tyres and although the old ones still had about a thousand miles left we were off to Cornwall for a week. I am over 60 Car is Mk4 LS400 1998 and I live in the country If its not a Lexus its just a car. Mike :P
  11. She looks gorgeous. Prices are tumbling daily and there are lots of them that have been up for sale for months. I think good genuine ones which are well described in their advertisements move. Like any thing you sell, good pictures and detailed truthful description give buyers confidence. It never ceases to amaze me where sellars put a few well out of focus pictures and two lines containing about 6 words each and expect to sell something. Mike
  12. I dont know, does anyone know? Mike Wasn't me Mike, I am on holiday this week so search is on 'hold' graham. Have a good one. Mike
  13. That paticular car ended up as quite a drawn out thread where the person selling it got quite hot under the collar with several of us as his story was easily picked apart. Heres the thread. It had to be modified by one of the moderators. http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/index.php?showtopic=72942&st=0 Regards Mike
  14. Hi Mike. I Live on the borders of Hampshire/Berkshire. I couldnt fix any LPG system, apart from being disabled I just dont have the knowledge. I do know on a new install such as yours you should not be having this trouble. There is a guy I know in Peterborough who is a wizard with these systems by the name of Salvatori and has businesses in the UK and Italy and what an Italian engineer dosent know about LPG systems is not worth knowing. I am not aware if Profess are into sorting other peoples installtions out I just know they a brilliant when it comes to their installations. I asked earlier in this thread how you paid for it but never gave an answer. There is a good reason for asking this. PM with the answer if you like. Regards Mike
  15. Yes so am I. But not all LPG installers are bad. The trouble with this country is we allow cowboys to set up business and spread grief wherever their greasy little mits go and get everybody a bad name. This could easily be sorted with the government setting up the same system that covers household gas fitters but no that would be to easy. This countries government and commerce runs on causing maximum grief to ensure maximum profit. Think on it next time you have a problem with anything and you have to ring an 089 number at a squillion £'s a minuite. LPG is a great technology and its cheap and there isnt a car out there that if converted properly will run without all these problems. Here endeth the lesson for today. Mike
  16. Is there no way we can help this poor guy out. He is obviously going through a very traumatic time and is in need of some professional counseling. While he is still staying with the Lexus badge he will forever be driving around and on seeing an LS400 will become a danger to all on the road as he fights with his conscience, racked full of guilt that he could still be in one. Mike
  17. Hi Mike, In all the 16 years and many cars we have had converted never once has there here been any warning lights of any kind. I know you say the guy who has done your conversion is a really nice guy and always listens to your complaints but this doesn't hide the fact that there is a problem with the installation. To say this happens often is total rubbish. Do hope you manage to get the system sorted somehow or other. Mike
