  1. He speaketh with un-forked tougue..
  2. After spending a fortune on mine, the cause turned out to be the n/s hub arm being slightly bent which in turn didn't let the disc spin 100% true which warped it after 1k miles. Reckon previous owner went down a BIG pothole at some point. To be honest the clue was in the boot, as the spare wheel was twisted! I'm not saying that this has happend to you guys cars, and that fitting a second hand assembly will cure your wobble, but it's a cheap fix and worth trying.
  3. No it doesn't, the hub assembly comprises of the flange, the bearing and the arm that the bearing is pressed into, so the whole lot together. Iv'e just been on ebay and searched for Lexus is200 front hub assembly, but none there at the moment, but that's what i'm talking about, the complete assembly not just separate components.
  4. Yep, I have been there mate, but after spending a fortune I fitted 2nd hand hubs and problem solved.
  5. So you get the wheel wobble when you put the brakes on yet you state that it is definitely NOT a brake problem...how can you be so sure???
  6. Didn't do myself, garage changed them for me, didn't look like a "hard" job but then again the car was on a lift and they had air tools! Wouldn't fancy doing it myself coz you know that a nut wont come off or something bad is gonna happen! local garage wont charge very much to swap the complete hub over. Get a quote first.
  7. Tbh, it's gonna be a gamble if a used hub/bearing assembly is good or bad, if no good then send it back! A bearing should spin freely with minimal noise (just slight noise from bearings) not spinning one turn and rough noise.
  8. You are right about the pipes collapsing, but the chance of that is VERY slim, unless the car is being used in the desert or in iceland, I reckon that the bearing that only goes half a rotation is no good, thing is that Lexus bearings are not cheap, £60 ish from memory for a blue print bearing, then garage labour to fit them on top of that. I had both front bearings on mine changed a few years ago which made no difference to discs warping and causing the wobble under braking, infact the bearings collapsed again a year later! The garage had obviously not put them in right, although they wouldn't admit it. Do yourself a big favour and get on ebay and buy second hand original Lexus hub assembly which has original bearing for maybe £30-40. With a bit of luck this will probably cure the warping disc saga as well, the same as it did for me!!
  9. Hi Phil, I bought new Lexus hoses for mine as mechanic reckoned it was worth a go, don't bother mate!! No real way to check them unless you want to take them off and blow through them, but wouldn't bother, the problem is hub related.
  10. Hi James, I have a perfect gearbox from a is200 sport (done about 40k) that you are welcome to have for nothing if you want to come to Essex and collect it?
  11. Thats the problem, photos don't show the exact colour of the chrome, has to be looked at!
  12. Well, just called up Woodford Lexus and ordered a new one which they reckon is the correct one/colour, but if it is not the correct one then I pay nothing..sounds good to me. Best thing is the price, I was expecting something daft like £300 but quoted £104.22 including vat, result! so if anyone needs a used clear or a dark L/H rear light...let me know.
  13. Unbelievable, a straight forward task of buying a rear light unit has got to be a pain in the back side! Obviously no good to buy another without actually seeing it as there does not appear to be any part numbers on these lights at all. The dark one is a tad darker than the original which isn't that bad, but would like them to match. Me thinks to phone up Lexus and see if my reg number shows which one to get...and how much a brand new unit is..
  14. After a retard decided to hit the back of my car and drive off, I needed to get another rear light, easy enough? no. Bought used one on-line, perfect condition but internal mirrors are bright chrome, the original broken one has a more smoked chrome mirror. Mate has just given me another one which seems to have an even more smoked effect which looks even darker than original..what the feck is going on here! How many different versions are there???
  15. I have owned my is300 for about 3 years now and love it to bits! Had an is200 sport before (only for a year) but found it to slow, the is300 is just great with the option to put it into manual mode and use the "up/down" shift buttons on the steering wheel, surprises BMW reps on the motorways! Worth checking that red one out, it does look bloody good! It's gonna have full leather etc etc, if it has the factory sat nav then top dog..
  16. Noticed that the headlamps on my is300 have a slight cloudy film inside the glass, can anything be done about this? assume the glass is fixed to the unit..
  17. This is really a bit special as red one's are few and far between and it has the full factory fitted Areo Kit including the 18inch wheels..nice!
  18. Got a bulb out on drivers side front fog lamp but can't see how to get to replace it as has the Areo spoiler. Has anyone done this before? Assume the bulb is just a normal white one and the cover makes it shine yellow?
  19. No idea mate! Problem was still there with 2 different sets of tyres on my car, as mentioned before, the cure for mine was to change the complete hub assembly for a s/h one from fleabay. Obviously it's just pot luck and you may have found the cure for your car as would have thought the problem would show itself in less than 1000 miles..
  20. 38psi seems much to high, I have 225's on the 18inch Areo wheels and run with 33psi fronts and 30psi rears, perfect.
  21. Bluesman speaks with unforked tongue, proper service for not much £'s.
  22. good point, will dig out invoice tonight and check what I was charged!
  23. No problem, they quoted me £95 on phone for tracking set up, final bill was £120 But included in that was 4 x wheel balance @£7.50 each and an extra £10 to remove new paint from all the inner wheel hubs, so in theory should have been £135....dunno, just paid and left! Maybe they charge less if it doesn't take as long as they first quoted..hmmm.
  24. Had these Vred's changed recently for lovely new set of Goodyears, plenty of wear left in the Vred's if anyone wants them?
