  1. As I have said before normski2, WELCOME TO THE WORLD OF THE SE-L MULTIMEDIA You will never again settle for anything less!!!
  2. Are your scuff plates illuminated orange? Mine are a very sexy blue!!! They do look good at night though don't they!
  3. I just love those wheels normski2, wouldn't mind a set of those. What on earth is all that tape doing on your number plates!! I would have thought that a chap of your calibre would have some photo editing software on his PC! Lovely car matey, hope I end up with something close to it when I get mine, The wheel arches on the front seem slightly bulgier than on mine, did they modify them on your later model, or is it the camera angle?
  4. Hi matt-c, how very valid your last couple of sentences are. Oh the times that I have spent stressing those very points to my son!! It doesn't matter how old they are, and my youngest is mid-thirties, as a parent you still have concerns when they go hurtling up the motorway and, it is your points that get stated every time.
  5. I too always thought that the SE-L had the lot but no, you have to have the multimedia for the SatNav etc and then you don't necessarily get everything, there are other additional options to such as a sunroof and dynamic cruise control, the list seems endless. i'd really like to see a model that had absolutely everything, probably costs an arm and a leg though!!
  6. Thank you for your explanation Exdee, most useful. However, I think that to get a full understanding I will need to either watch someone putting them to use or to try it for myself. It has been rather more years than I care to remember since I owned an automatic. If I remember right it was probably sometime around the early 1960's, and it was an Austin 1100.
  7. Thank you F.A. and normski2 for your comments on the matter of acceleration, both are much appreciated, thank you. Normski, or any 250 driver, I would be really interested to hear any comments on the use of the 'paddles' I have not yet had the opportunity to see, or experience, these in use.
  8. Hi again normski2, Now that you have had a fair few goes in your newly acquired IS250, I am wondering, what are your findings with regard to the acceleration when compared to the 220d. As you know, I currently have the 220d and I find that the acceleration is superb and I would be interested in your comparison. The reason that I am asking this is because of a post that I have read today whereby the contributor regards the acceleration in the IS250 as completely gutless, see post number6 at the following link :- http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/index.php?showtopic=78444
  9. Thank you for your input jason61c, that at least gives me a little bit of peace of mind.
  10. She is a beauty. The MPG? I expect others can beat me hands down... it's early days yet! As I did with my 220D, I use the Cruise Control a great deal..it will beat my foot every time. Once you have the hang of it and the confidence...it really is so easy to use. I urge anyone to go and use their Cruise Control. Have to agree with the cruise control comment. I always use mine whenever circumstances permit. It really is so simple to use, especially with availability of the 'resume' button. Also, I ALWAYS set my cruise control to the required limit when negotiating motorway roadworks/contraflow systems as I have one or two friends who have been 'done' for speeding at such locations. Does you new car have the 'Dynamic cruise control' normski2?
  11. Hello folks, just sat down to a well earned cuppa and a biccy and was fiddling about on the old PC and decided to have a look see at other Lexus Forums. I came across 'Club Lexus' and immediately went to the IS250 section as I am looking to get one asap. I was quite taken aback when reading the first thread that I came across. The originator of the thread stated that he was looking at a couple of 06 IS250's and was seeking some advice/guidance prior to purchase. The bit that took me by surprise came from a response to the original post whereby the guy stated that (quote) "carbon build-up is a pretty common issue on the IS250 and that I have personally had it and it will probably be the only reason I would sell the car" (unquote) Now i am an addict of this site (LOC) and have been involved quite a bit in the discussions relative to the EGR Valve on the IS220d but admit to not spotting much in relation to carbon build-up on the IS250. I started a thread about fuel (petrol as opposed to diesel) a little while ago and there were some interesting replies to which I will again refer as and when I get my 250 but, I am wondering if other current or past 250 owners feel that there is an 'issue' with carbon build-up. Hope you are all enjoying this wonderful spell of sunshine and are taking the opportunity to spruce up you beloved motors! P.S. Don't know if there is any relevance but the contributors (on Club Lexus) location is shown as CA which I automatically assumed as California USA. Could heat be the cause of the issue over there? !!!!!!
  12. BRILL BRILL BRILL normski2, I just knew that you would be 'over the moon' with your new car. Buttons here, switches there, buttons and switches evrywhere!!! Look forward to seeing the piccy's soon.
  13. Thank you Exdee, simple when you know it eh! I'm learning all the time.
  14. Question from a grey haired old codger please.................what is WOT? Is that wot comes under the heading 'text speak'?
  15. Every now and then, the mirror on the passenger side stops tilting when I put the car in reverse. i took it back to the dealer to have it done under warranty but they couldn't find anything wrong with it and it was working fine when I picked it up. Last week it stopped working again so i thought that I would book it in again to have it looked at but guess what..............it has started working again now! If it goes again I think that I will give Exdee's theory a go to see if that will solve it.
  16. The tilting mirrors when you engage reverse is an absolutely briliant idea, I find that it makes parking so much easier. You probably read that I did the modification on the mirrors on my 220d for them to fold in/out when the doors are locked/unlocked, I found that really helpful. If (when) I get a 250 i will definitely do the modification on it. I spoke to Michael in Oz recently and he has a daughter living in London and he is considering letting her have some stock of the Po-40 so that will make it easier to get hold of. The other thing that you will probably have on your later 250 is the door mirrors incorporating the indicator flashers. I think that came in on the 2010 model, might even have been on the 2009. Quite right Geoff, it does indeed have the indicator flashers. I'm also liking the L and reverse L shape to the reversing lights on the rear cluster. Not familiar with that bit I'm aftaid. you really must post up some piccys when you get the car. i have never seen the colour of yours on the road. There is a chap in Budleigh who has one that is the same colour as mine. When i go walking along the seafront I always look out for other Lexi but don't see many of them around here. It's nice to know that we aint common don't you think!

  18. Hi again normski2, As you know, my 220d is the SE-L Multimedia and I must admit that whatever happens I will NOT move away from that level of spec, it is absolutely brilliant and i think that you will feel the same about it when you get yours. As and when you come to change the car again in the future you will find it extremely difficult to go for anything less. I think that the only things missing from mine is a sunroof (which i'm not a fan of anyway) and the 'radar cruise control' With regards to my change, I am hoping that I can button something up within the next week or so. It looks as though we can both put our B10 and AR6200 thoughts finally to bed! You of course will need to guide your son on its merits. Have you read the threads on 'Fuel' in respect of the IS250?
  19. You have beaten me to it so congratulations normski2 i'm sure that you will enjoy your new car. I'm hoping that my good news is not too far away now and that I too will be enjoying the pleasures of the IS250. However, i'm afraid that I will be having to wait a little while longer before I can get one as new as yours. Well done again on what sounds like a brilliant buy.
  20. I've had my 220d for almost a year now and it is without doubt the best car I have ever owned. real quality, I just love getting into it and closing the door, sounds really solid. Comfort is superb, MPG is great after cleaning the EGR Valve and, I just love all the goodies on it. The only reason that I am looking to change mine (to an IS250 SE-L Multimedia) is because I just do not do enough annual mileage to justify having the diesel and so am concerned at the possibility of problems arising from this in the future. The comments made by Sterling and jason61c are very valid Enjoy it when you get it.
  21. Hi again, everything is fine when you reconnect the battery with the exception of the windows, you will need to re-set these to their auto mode. You do this by going to each window in turn. Hold the relevant button whilst the window goes fully down, continue holding for six seconds after the window is fully open, you can then close the window and that one is then done. you then need to go to each of the other windows in turn and do exactly the same procedure. This must be done at each door and NOT at the window control on the drivers door.
  22. No I have not tried any other additive but would always be willing to give it a go. Another member, normski2, has used another brand and seems to be happy with the results. I seem to remember that he calculated that it was slightly cheaper than the B10 too. might be worth considering.
  23. Hi again bigbullhead, with all due respect, your username seems to imply that you are a well built chap and, as such you will not have the problems that I encountered in lifting out the battery. With regard to the EGR Valve Cleaning kit, which you may not choose to use, here is the link - http://top-oils.co.uk/egr-valve-cleaning-kit-p-191.html The link to the B10 additive is - http://top-oils.co.uk/additives-maintenance-diesel-additives-c-1_47.html If you need some help or more information, give the proprietor a call, he was really helpful to me, he sent me a few emails and he will answer all of your questions. His name is Peter Trott and his number is 01923400193 or 07968874082, tell him that you got the lead from a LOC member (Geoff Lees) and he will do everything to be helpful. He travels around the country most weekends giving oil support at motor race meetings. You may also like to read this thread - http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/index.php?showtopic=76275&hl= This thread will also be of interest to you and you should definitely read it - http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/index.php?showtopic=72447 Hope this helps you.
  24. Hiya bigbullhead, I'm a Brummie by birth but have lived in Devon for the past 38years. The reason for my trip to Lincolnshire is that my wifes sister lives in......................Sleaford!! Have you been quoted a price for the EGR cleaning? My understanding from reading other threads on here is that it tends to be very expensive. Did you read my thread 'Problems headed off at the pass?' you need to read it from start to finish. Cleaning the valve really is very simple. the hardest part I found was having to remove the battery and you have to do this in order to get at the rear nuts/bolts to enable the removal of the pipe. The only reason that I found it difficult is one of age I'm afraid, I just don't have the strength in my arms anymore and the Lexus batteries are B*# heavy!! I put loads of sheets over the car wing in case I had to put it down when lifting it out. I think if the battery was at the front of the engine bay, then I would not have found it so difficult. This would not be a problem for a younger person I'm sure. Let me know if I can be of any further help.
