I have recently embarked upon the 'fuel treatment' for my IS250. I have decided to go with an initial treatment of 450mm of AR6400 to a full tank and, when this has been used up I will then move on to the addition of AR6200 at the appropriate proportions per litre of petrol at each fill-up. You may have seen my thread 'Problems headed off at the pass' where you will have seen that I used the Bardahl Oils EGR Cleaning Kit followed by regular use of their B10 fuel additive at each top-up. This gave me fantastic results in every way on my previous 220d.

Hi Geoffers, That's an interesting reply you have given, for which many thanks. I have spoken to Lexus Exeter about the problem and they have assured me that there is nothing wrong with the car. They also went on to say that one of their staff lives a few miles from me down alongside the marina and, he cannot park his car outside of his house because he can never get it started if he does. He always has to park some little way down the road and then he has no problems whatsoever. He and his neghbours have tried to get to the bottom of this unusual problem but without any luck.

Nice One!!! Bet you can't wait. Never will a few days seem to pass so slowly. Enjoy your new car.

Thanks Exdee, I will try to get the car in to the dealer tomorrow. I have just been out to start the car and everything is fine, no error messages or anything. Unlocking and locking the car was quite normal too, very strange.Have you, or anyone, had cause to use the manual key at any time? I tried yesterday and again just now but couldn't make any progress with it. I can't seem to insert it far enough to enable the removal of the cover, is there a bit of a knack to using it?

Went for my usual Saturday morning snooker practice today (getting ready for the televised sessions of the UK Championships dontchaknow!!! watch out Ronnie i'm gunning for ya!) Anyway, on to more serious matters, went to my car, tried to get in using the usual smart entry (key in my pocket) and absolutely nothing, then tried the remote, still nothing, just could not open the doors. For some reason I then tried to open the boot and blow me, that worked. I then found that I could open the drivers door. Jumped in and tried to start it, but nothing happened. Thinking that the battery in the the remote was dead, I phoned the wife and asked her to bring me the spare key, tried that but still nothing. It wouldn't lock the car and it wouldn't start it either. Next move was to phone Lexus Roadside Recovery. They came out and the guy tried various things but no joy. He connected his truck up to my battery to see if that would help, but once again, nothing. Then all of a sudden he got it going, when I asked him what he had done he said that he had held the button in on the remote and kept pressing the starter button and away it went. He connected some electronic wizardry to the car but this did not show any DTC's I think he said but, the screen on the dash said 'Check VSC' and the 'ABS' light remained on. He then said that his electronic box said there was a problem but could not identify it and nor could it delete it. The guy said that I should get it to the dealer and have it looked at. I asked him if he would take it but he said not. I asked him what would happen if I switched the ignition off and he said he didn't know and he wouldn't like to chance it either! I then drove the 4 miles home with the 'Check VSC' error showing and the car drove perfectly. When I was safely on the drive, I turned off the ignition and then tried to start it again, everything was fine, it started first time, the screen said something like 'Check Completed' and there was no sign of the 'Check VSC' error. I will ring the dealer first thing on Monday to see what they have to say. Anyone experienced anything like this?

Welcome to the club. Nice car so enjoy it. I had a 220d SE-L MM unitl recently, it was the best car I had ever owned but now I've got a better one as I've moved to the IS250 SE-L MM. You will I'm sure, get a lot of pleasure from your new car. If it's as good as mine was you will be very pleased. the acceleration on mine was superb and, after I'd cleaned the EGR valve my mpg returns were brilliant. You will read a lot on here about the EGR Valve, you will do well to read the relevant threads.

Hiya Michael, a bit on the late side spotting your reply, for which many apologies. I might just try the Autoglym rapid detailer and see what happens. If you should spot this reply, I wonder if you can recommend a good wheel cleaner and polish as i want to try to avoid any problems with the wheels, a bit of a sore subject on the LOC I think.

I really can't understand why manufacturers get rid of certain options. As far as I am concerned, the cooled seat option is brilliant, although our summer wasn't too brill this year I used my seat cooling option on a number of occasions. I think that I use the 'cooling' option more than I use the 'heated'. With regard to the DRL's I also think that these are a must and I wish mine had got them. I always drive my car with at least the sidelights on and, at this time of the year, with gloomy days being a regular occurrance, I invariably switch to dipped headlights.

Your new car looks super, very very smart. I have test driven one recently and my cousin has one and it may be that I will go for one in the future but, for the time being I am in love with my 250. Are you intending to do anything about the spare-wheel problem. I pointed my cousin in the right direction following my reading of a post on here whilst he was holidaying in France with his fingers crossed that he wouldn't get a puncture whilst he was over there. I sent him a text with the details and he went and bought one on his return. I think that he paid about £350.00 but he now has so much more peace of mind knowing that there is a proper spare in the boot.

Folding Mirrors

I did mean to mention it earlier but Michael in Australia has a daughter who is currently working in the UK and he is using her as a distribution point, this will undoubtedly speed up the purchase procedure of the Po-40. -
Some Piccys

Congratulations on a superb car. I can see why you are so proud. I have never seen one of these close up (must keep my eyes open for one to view) I would be interested to know what the controls on the rear armrest are for please. -
13 More obvious LED rear lights ( brake and side) 6 LEDs on each side instead of previous 2 or 3 Are the rear lights on the facelift model a different shape? I was just wondering that if the external is the same shape, would it be possible to fit a new 'internal section' to accommodate the additional LED's. Anyone know the answer? Also regarding 'White door courtesy lights instead of red' I find this rather confusing. I never regarded these sort of lights as being courtesy lights, more so that they were warning lights to traffice coming from behind that the door was open, hence the need for red. How stupid am I then!!

Make sure that you get the correct wiring diagrams if you fit the Po-40. The diagrams that came with the Po-40 were specific to the IS250. I think that I was the first to do a 220d and a little experimentation/guidance was necessary with the manufacturer/electronics guy in Thailand via MSN Messenger I think they call it. Michael in Australia, the supplier, was extremely helpful too, he put me in touch with the guy in Thailand. Let me know if I can help any further with this particular aspect.

Have a look at this thread for info on the mirrors. You will see that I did mine when I had the 220d but it does necessitate removing the door panel (although not completely) so you might not want to do it. http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/index.php?showtopic=75371&st=15

Lol, got to love the blind. Also, I feel quite proud when opening the front doors at night, those Lexus neon blue door plates look cool. It's the little touches of class that set this car above. You'd think I was 14 not 40.. Carl Have to say, that interior looks pretty impressive, super colour. The only thing I don't like is the light carpets. I feel that blue would look stunning!

Welcome to the club Mr Ski, you will find lots of help and information on here as we are a very friendly lot. You have already been helpful with your piccy's, so many thanks for that. I have light coloured leather in mine so it might be worth having a go at it with some appropriate cleaning gear.
