  1. We shall see what they do, however we (the people) still have the power to act on whatever they decide to do... as long as we live in a democracy (EU or not) we have the right to get heard and I'm quite sure there will be some noise if this means we can't modify our motors ;) Time will tell
  2. In that case I suggest that everyone takes their privately owned modified car of the road and uses it as a showcar on his driveway... that way you can get it SORN (Stated Of the Road) and do not have to pay any roadtax nor do a MOT.. yes you will not be able to use it but that's where trackdays come in handy ( and the company provided car ;) ). If that happens all of a sudden the parliament will notice that there is less income of road tax, insurance companies will complain MOT stations will go out of business. Another economic problem just because of that stupid rule... MARK MY WORDS if this happens: they will reverse the ruling in their country, why do people forget that in any democracy the power is still with the people... Yes they will try it but in the end, they'll reverse it because we do not conform to it and when we do we'll stay nicely within the law, flipping them the bird... Whoever is in charge will have to reverse whatever ruling they have decided on to get their economy running properly again
  3. This is the type of thing that they are trying to impose everywhere... it started within a country first, in this case Belgium, had the ruling in place for about 2 years...then guess what they'll push it through to all the other EU countries... and that is what they are doing right now. Yes this sort of B*^%#$*@*! should not be any concern of the EU. There are more important things they should sort out and frankly I don't remember giving the EU that much power, this is ruling that actually changes stuff for consumers in every EU membership country..... F-that!!!!! My car is mine to do with what I please... And no thank you I do not want to drive around in the same car as the neighbour or anyone else for that matter, even though they might be from the same brand and the same model, If I decide to change the look of whatever part 2 my property I will and no law will stop me from doing so!!!!
  4. Well ...think like this, you know exactly what the IS will set you back and how long it'll last (at least another 40k) now think about it... getting your money out for some car you'll have to gamble the state of....costing you more or less the same as fixing the trusty IS that has never let you down in 3 years ;) I think you know what you'll do now ;)
  5. Well this is a typical if you want to spent more you can story.... So long your IS isn't putting out more then 350 BHP on the wheels you should be fine.... In countries with way lesser economies then ours, tyres get remoulded and used as the normal standard (even cheap brand tyres are expensive in most of these countries and fetch premium prices) then and you can find them on everything from performance cars to heavy trucks.... So yes, unless you have a tyre shredding animal of a car you can drive around safely on remoulded tyres.. they are about 95% as strong as the original tyres but because they are remoulded (made from reused tyres) they are cheaper... ( and usually of higher brand names) Conclussion: I don't mind them, but I live in the UK, where I can get brand new tyres from a lesser brand, for the same money on my wheels and know those tyres will be 100% ok.... So I wouldn't settle for remoulds.
  6. Thank you for your support: PS the competition is for head ring-girl at an internationally broadcasted Mixed Martial Arts event, needles to say this could do wonders for the head ring-girls career in modeling etc etc etc.... If you want to know more about the event CLICK HERE
  7. Hello fellow LOC members, I would like to ask you to vote for my daughter, she entered a models competition and needs some votes... otherwise she won't make it through to the next round. To keep things fair al the competitors have their pictures up on the modelsgateway.net facebook page (to keep spamming out and fake automated votes) of course you can vote for the other girls too but please don't forget to vote for my daughter ;) PS this is what she looks like : to vote for her just click HERE like the picture and leave a comment behind. Thank you all!!!!
  8. stav's screen comes with all the parts and wiring needed my friend i'd go for that one and if the screen's still an issue get the bigger one later and put it in it'll fit but you'll be able to use the wiring that is already present on stav's aftermarket satnav unit. check the download section on the main page so you can see what I'm on about.
  9. ehhrrrrrrrrrrr check the build in the download section it is not like that as the cables aren't there.... that is the whole reason that when you buy a Lexus you are better of to get it with the most options... unlike German cars they made sure that the wiring-loom in the car is closed and it only provides for the options available as ordered by the customer.... meaning getting OEM equipment afterwards is hell. That said I would buy the one of Stav as it comes with the right wires etc and will be just a drop in and believe me the screen is more then sufficient ;)
  10. Excuse me but De-badging is part of the euro look (it is called cleaning) and will never die .... if you want to take it off go a head...just keep them save for when you sell the car. And honestly it does look better without :D
  11. It isn't otherwise it would have been put up already, but if you can get the module out of a scrapped car and wire it in it might work.
  12. Yes you can just order the parts from the lexus dealer... some of them you can get from your local parts man but not everything... Check scrapyards on ebay for the parts wanted as most of the cars they break are just insurance write off's ( doesn't mean that those parts are gone ;) ) and also check in the parts for sale section on this website as some are breaking whole cars ;)
  13. You'll always have people like that... I'll say it again a special edition IS200 or not .... the car isn't a young timer yet and isn't a collectors car neither... so the rule applies same as a normal edition.... would you pay extra for a vw golf mk5 GTI 25th anniversary edition? No and i'll tell you why..... it is exactly the same as the normal mk5 gti apart from the golf ball gear knob and the dealer provided chip tuning (the extra money doesn't add up to the changes) And if you really like the colour.... get an is with aero kit and get it resprayed in that colour or get it wrapped. And if you already bought it..... keep it until it reaches young timer status as then it'll start being worth more then a normal is200 ;)
  14. A special edition isn't worth more then a normal is200 sport with the full aero kit from tte.... who cares it is called a special edition it has the same spec as the sports edition with the aero kit so the price should be the same as that one, after all the car isn't new and it is not a collectors item or a young timer.
  15. the steam coming from under the bonnet is one of the coolant pipes that go into the engine... usually that means the pipe has had it at the connection bit... luckily the pipes can be shortened but before you can get to them you'll have to remove the air intake box.
  16. do a search in the audio section through the main page... search on grom adaptor and parrot as you have that 2 ;)
  17. dude check the audio section through the main page.... you'll find everything you asked explained and step by step guides ;)
  18. very nice looking car ... I would de-badge it so people think it's an is200 ;) you could have so much fun :D
  19. bonnet catch thing cost 12 pound from lexus new that was with tax. I suggest you get that at the dealer as it is plastic it'll live for around 12 years then it'll break if someone does something stupid to it. the rest go to the scrappy but call them first... tell them what you want and negotiate the price first ;) for some weird reason they think lexus parts are worth the highest price possible so try to haggle
  20. Love the IS but the front is slowly letting the car down if they where to create an aftermarket bumper that incorporates DRL's and a bigger air intake the IS would be good to go for another decade. but if you want to talk about landmark cars.....there is only 1 : VW GOLF this car created the base line for all these cars... yes even the c segment as the golf got more luxurious and bigger the c-segment had to offer more just to keep their consumers happy... this is where the 3 series started to be more luxurious and faster and the IS had to be on par with the BMW 3 series to stand a change in the c-segment Also Lexus managed to get a bunch of sales rep's to switch their company VW Golf's to the IS just because it was well equipped and more affordable then the BMW 3 series (read BMW 320i Executive) or the VW Golf in top spec (read VW golf VR6 highline). But yeah I still have a warm spot for the VW golf's starting from the mk1 all the way up to the last mk6 with my favourites being: the mk1 GTI / MK2 rally / MK3 VR6 / MK4 & MK5 r32 / Golf R
  21. change the front tires, have all four tires rebalanced then have them recheck your wheel alignments all round. take it out after balancing and re-alignment ... if it still pulls they didn't do it right.
  22. wait that changes stuff..... If you have changed one of the callipers it could well be that the other calliper is reacting slower ( as it is worn down in time) you could get a refurbish kit and do it yourself or just get another calliper for the other side... Although I would start with the cheapest option.... meaning fresh brake fluid... it could well be that the old brake fluid has some air bubbles or water in it (as you can't see what the fluid looks like in the lines)
  23. you can reset it but the ecu should be able to work it out.
  24. when was the last time you changed the brake fluid?
