  1. well I replied like that as this has been asked so much you'd think one would do a search first ;)
  2. hammerite is an enamel paint = HT paint.... and you can use lacquer on top of it it will not come off or burn... unless you use the car for track purpose and even then it'll take a long time before the lacquer comes off You've seen the pictures from people that have used the lacquer and the decals and it is still on!
  3. yeah buy a working one... chances are it is broken ( you won't be the first)
  4. just start you'll figure it out it ...and if all else fails just do a search ...
  5. yeah you'll notice after a while that he is a member here 2 ;)
  6. like I said before John the is300 is faster then people think... don't forget it is the engine that was in the NA supra's from the 90ties and even then they didn't put the right times down ... still can't get my head around that why would they do that other then getting their cars with bigger engines sold???
  7. the only way you could get 10s to fit in the back is to roll the arches and get aftermarket arch extenders haven't seen an IS yet that has them so not to sure what it'll look like might be nice or mess up the whole car.
  8. Mate mine has a full size 17 inch in it only thing is it'll fit without air in it ( tight squeeze but it fits) so I added a mini compressor in the boot.
  9. Dude ebay is your friend just do a search on google the words "is200 bodykit" ;) more then enough options will popup... and with those parts it's better to get them new as some parts may not have perfect fitting and need to be altered to give that snug fit.... also checkout ebay as there are enough alloys on there that go for nice prices... as almost al Japanese cars have the same PCD you have a wide variety ;)
  10. it's an eaton compressor that is used on the merc slk .... so widely available from any scrapyard or ebay ;) I would get myself a spare, swap it for the noisy one then open that one up to see what's going on... you might be able to get some parts for it just check out the eaton website ;)
  11. yeah go to the scrappy and get your self the mirror cover ( they might want to sell you the complete unit but insist on only the plastic cover I payed 5 quid for mine ;) )
  12. Best thing you'll notice is piggyback as the IS has a multiplex ECU meaning all the electronics in the car are run of the combined ECU's... that said... there are people that have a standalone ECU that hooks into the multiplex ECU to keep the rest working Do a search on this on the site if you go the standalone ECU route, you'll need someone that has done it before and can tell you how much it costs and how long it takes to have it setup properly. The pulley = lighter the better. Less weight = less mass = less engine drag = faster spinning up = more boost
  13. I'd go for blue as that is the colour used by lexus ... It just makes the lot look more OEM ;) just don't forget to get the caliper decals so it finishes the OEM look
  14. best is to get yourself a bigger FMIC and a good cold air intake ... BMCA has a nice one but rather expensive but if you look at it you'll notice you can fabricate that yourself... Colder Air means more CO2 = more BHP from the engine. (you can be looking at a nice 20 to 25% more BHP just from adding a bigger and more efficient FMIC and induction kit) For a bigger pulley you could get one fabricated at this company or one like it. Also you'll need to figure out which diameter you'll need for the bigger pulley (* a boost calculator see last section) And from what I've read so far you can get the car to a maximum of 240 BHP on stock internals. You'll have to use a boost calculator to make sure you workout the right boost pressure ICM with your engine I can't find it as it was on the Eaton supercharger website but it seems they've taken it off.
  15. very anoying but If it was up to me i would save up for coilovers
  16. all the good brand panel filters give roughly the same engine sound and better breathing... so if you want to go for apexi go for it ... it might give a deeper sound then the cotton panel filters mentioned above
  17. could be coolant as the coolant expansion reservoir has a pipe running there just check your coolant level to make sure ;)
  18. aha in that case I'm wrong, only have experience with g-laders and on them you change the pulley on the charger to make it go faster( and yes it is the smaller version you go for)
  19. you'll have to change the complete wiring loom the Lexus IS is not a car you want to retrofit parts to they've made it extra complicated.... unless you are very good with wiring diagrams then you can have a go at it or just follow the step by step manual available for download on the site ;)
  20. bigger pulley equates to longer time to turn the axle on the charger side.... so if you want the charger to move faster you'll need a smaller pulley on it... the TDI option was never 100% completely finished as far as i know of but that charger is interesting but bloody expensive ( for that money you can still buy a new TTE supercharger kit with everything ready to be bolted on). Rotrex superchargers are cool as they can be easily be re-used in another car that has the same or a little bit bigger engine displacement, reason being the size of the charger.
  21. It looks like a copy of a A6 Estate ..... not ugly but groundbreaking? me thinks not!
  22. the car is not an S model but an SE version doesn't matter as it has all the right bits on it SAT-nav/OEM stereo/Heated half leather seats/Snow mode/ Traction on/off etc etc etc the only thing it misses is the sport options... being the LSD/sport pedals + foot rest/door sill trimmings and the all important sports suspension and TTE body kit.... All in all it is a nice car for a nice asking price that still is negotiable! PS the pictures also show LEXUS history .... so a shed it is definitely NOT.... If I had the money laying about I would be on my way to get it
  23. Love the lines of the IS, the rear light clusters set off a new style on after-market parts so hey the car was way ahead of it's time... the only thing I would change is the ugly orange indicator in the headlights go for HID's and get a proper body-kit on it just to get the body lower to the ground and add some extra muscle ( and off-course a sensible lower ride, read coilovers) if that's all done the car is up to date and very very nice! ( still lacks the DLR lights but that can be sorted, after-market has loads of options)
