  1. Just been to check mine. They can't be seen from outside unless you shade your eyes and press your nose to the darkened glass. They are part of the rear seat and cannot be removed so unlikely to be stolen. Can't comment on screen quality as I've never used them.
  2. They update every two years. Best to check when the latest maps are available. I'm fairly they are updated this year. Not sure what month, you wouldn't want to update a couple of months before the latest.
  3. This reminds me, I started thread on ML about a year ago. After much deliberating I decided to turn off surround and use stereo. This thread has tempted me to turn surround back on and I will give it another go.
  4. Worth further investigation. This video in a right hand drive car is where I got the impression ML processed compressed files
  5. I have ML at the moment and it is nothing special. The ML in my previous LS 600 was good. Maybe the acoustics of the car more than the ML make the difference. I will listen to the ML as it claims to expand compressed files, which is what I mostly listen to. Agree with your comments about Premium. Mine has DVD screens on the seat backs that have never been used. I don't even know if they work.
  6. That's the spec\colour I'm going for. One thing that almost made me not consider it was the unavailability of 'Blind Spot Monitor' on anything but Premium. It is available on lower models in the US, but not here. Lexus must have a reason for not including this important safety feature in the UK, but I can't think of one. I do a lot of motoring in Europe and would really like this safety feature as there is a blind spot when driving on the right, with traffic overtaking on the left.
  7. Thanks for that Rozza. One more if I may. In EV mode, can you apply more accelerator force before the engine cuts in than in normal mode?
  8. I went from a LS600h to the RX 450h. No regrets. Well, maybe one. I miss that 5L V8.
  9. Having read the manual, I can find no way to disable the alarm, for ferry trips etc. On my 2012 450h there is a button with the roof switches. There must be a way to turn the alarm off on this new model?
  10. Pressing 'Eco' mode allows the car move off with a cold engine. Its explained in the manual as a way to leave home silently without disturbing neighbours.
  11. Before considering economising on warranty take a look at the thread I started in the LS section. http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/topic/90233-what-a-time-for-this-to-happen/
  12. Adaptive Cruise Control. Not something I thought about until I had it. Now I would never buy a car without. It makes motorway driving so much less stressful.
  13. Just checked with Lexus. Updates come out every two years and the next one is due winter next year. At £160 for the update I think I'll live with the maps I have until then, or buy a Tom Tom.
  14. I have home set as my post code. That way a thief could only navigate to my estate. A thing that bugs me with the satnav offer to re route for traffic is that no matter how many times I tell it 'No' it keeps comming back and asking again. Having just returned from a trip to Spain with quite a few issues with the sanav directions I will update the maps when the latest are available. anyone know when 2016\17 is released? As my system is HD based I suppose the only option to upgrade is a dealer visit?
  15. I put my car through a car wash for the first time. Conveyer belt wash so car had to be in neutral. Before the end of the wash all hell let loose on the dash. Warning dings, warning on screen to shift to park or drive. Engine started ok at the end. Is it ok tt leave the car in N, engine off in this situation. Wash attendant said to leave ignition on.
  16. Not any help to you, but the 450 does have a traction control button to the rear of the mouse hand rest.
  17. All ok now. The rubber O ring on the battery cover stopped water entering the main part of the key. Hair dryer removed any moisture left.
  18. Just recovered my key from my jeans after a full cycle in the washing machine. Its sitting on the window ledge now drying out. Anyone else done this and did the key survive?
  19. Driving South down the A449 from Monmouth to Newport today and saw the one I sold a couple of months ago driving in the opposite direction. Gave me quite a shock. I wonder if the new owner frequents the forums.
  20. I see they've reverted to a thumb operated 'enter' key for the mouse pointer rather than the current press the mouse to enter effort. I prefer the deeply recesed screen on the current models. No sun reflections.
  21. Fixed: Sound was set to "Surround", turning that off improved sound no end. Even DAB sounds good.
  22. Shell V Power Nitro user here. 4 MPG more than when I use regular in Europe if no Nitro availlable. I've also seen photos of a cylinder head thats done over 100k miles on Nitro, no carbon build up very clean looking. I only know of one Shell station in Spain.
  23. To which Lexus dealer was it traded Mick? Is this a St Patrick`s day joke? Enjoy the RX. Regards John Bristol, but its allready sold.
