  1. I had a courtesy 450h whilst my 400h was in for a service last week. I am pretty sure I saw this option in one of the menus, and it may have been under vehicle / customisation or something similar. I remember seeing that you could even set up the auto-lock to either only lock/unlock the drivers door, or all 4 doors. I'm sure it's in there somewhere...
  2. Colin beat me to it with his response: the RX series 2 is a 2002 deisgn. Did Mercedes or the likes have automatic folding mirrors back in 2002? I don't think Lexus was much out of tune with its competitors at the time. Not many other manufacturers provided adaptive xenon lights, traffic sensitive satnav or electric tailgates as standard at the time either.
  3. Like it. I hope this is something that will make it to production. Definitely an extra I would consider paying for. I guess that, ultimately, this could lead to wipers becoming redundant also!
  4. Little things hey... I get annoyed by the fact that there is no mute button on the audio of the RX400h. You either have to turn the volume all the way down, or switch the system off.
  5. Looks fantastic. Love the colour/leather combination. However, your son looses marks for messing up the plate! ;-) Is it not about time manufacturers coated their cars in non-stick, teflon type paint? - would make cleaning so much easier!
  6. Is the difference with traditionally sprung models really noticeable?
  7. I have to admit that no, I have not looked into it. I wonder if the wheels from a RX450h might fit... I do not believe they suffer from the same corroding issues... might look into that one...
  8. I have to admit that no, I have not looked into it. I wonder if the wheels from a RX450h might fit... I do not believe they suffer from the same corroding issues... might look into that one...
  9. Is it possible to somehow change the fog lights so that they are permanently switched on, in effect using them as DRLs? (for RX450h, but also RX400h, RX300/350?)
  10. There have been plenty of warnings from members with regards to relatively poor reliability of the air suspension on the RX300/350 (air suspension was never available on the RX400h), and the costs of getting fixed. I believe that some RX450h models do come with air suspension, hence the following questions: - are there reliability issues with this also? - which models have / have not got it? - is the ride significantly better to make it worth the extra money? thanks...
  11. Love the colour of Mike's car too. That's the colour I want my RX400h replacement to be when the time comes. My brother in law was complaining at the weekend that the best he gets out of his 3 year old Grand Cherokee diesel is 22mpg! Talking of hybrids... saw not one, but two BMW i8 at the week end! Very futuristic looking and costs peanuts to run but I guess running costs are not a priority when list price is £99.5k!
  12. From my own experience, and until someone contradicts me, even if you have your wheels refubished, they will start bubbling again after 18 months to two years. I think it is the making of the wheel itself that is the issue, rather than the painting / coating, where the alloy reacts to a variety of chemicals. On that basis, i would say that it is not worth spending a lot of money, as it is only a question of time before you have to do it all again. Given that it is a problem that affects so many RX owners, I am surprised not to see more RX's with after market rims.
  13. Looking forward to hear of your first impressions,,,
  14. Yep, this is correct. However, you load the DVD in the dashboard mounted CD changer, not in the DVD player that is connected to the rear screens. It will work in any of the 6 slots. From the moment you take the foot brake off, you will loose the video feed, although audio will continue.
  15. Try www.mrcarmats.com I believe their mats are made to order, so you may be able to order just the one. good quality and reasonable prices.
  16. Any difference in the lighting? Do they both get LEDs headlights? I suppose other factors to consider will be condition and colour - inside and out. Have you checked Lexus' approved used cars? There is currently a April 2010 SE-L with 35k miles for £26900... it means you would get the full warranty etc... Also a Sept 2010 SE-L with 35k miles for £29k
  17. I appreciate that you may not be able to get compensation, but I would still write to their head office and explain what happened. It may prompt them to review their procedures and/or their equipment. Despite the disclaimer, I would have thought they would still be liable if they used unsuitable equiment, or used approved equipment incorrectly. Tough one to prove either way of course, but you never know, there are still some honest people out there. Besides you may not be the first one this happens to, and you may prevent it happening to someone else. Never know, you might get a free car wash out of it
  18. Variation on same topic... Low mileage pre-facelift or high mileage facelifted RX450h... assuming similar spec and condition?
  19. I wonder if there are different levels of upgrades on the basis that you may not want/need ALL the maps and may wish to only have the UK and Western Europe maps updated.
  20. It seems that, although they may not be able to re-print the invoice, they can view it... in which case, they should be able to do a screen print and send that to you via email. Just a thought.
  21. Would it not be simpler - and cheaper - to get some good quality seat covers? Given what you seem willing to pay for cloth seats (buying, fitting, loss of value), you may even be able to have some taylor made. There seem to be plenty of potential suppliers on the 'net, within the UK and outside.
  22. To Chris and Colin: thanks for the explanation.
