  1. Mine does have a headlight on buzzer... however it does not work if the headlights are left in the AUTO setting. With this setting enabled, the lights are automatically switched off when the driver's door is opened... assuming that the engine already has been switched off.
  2. to the technophiles out there... Why is it that the warmer weather improves fuel consumption? I would have expected it to make it worse because of increased use of the air con...
  3. Thanks Colin. Spot on as usual. I have now looked into this a little deeper: you can register a number of (compatible) phones (I think it's 6), but only one phone can be connected at anyone time.
  4. Intimidating at work = bully! I know your type. Citroen Cactus. Not a bad idea that, especially if they manage to engineer this solution to be fully integrated into the paintwork and invisible.
  5. Given the number of views vs the number of response, this must be either a very complex... or very dumb question! ;-)
  6. Being on call all the time, I need to carry a work phone as well as my personal one, but only seem to be able to connect either one of them rather than both to the car's system. Which is a pain. Is there a way to connect two phones? Or are there technical constraints that make this impossible?
  7. Road rage... ... because parking in bays you are not strictly entitled to park is likely to cause resentment from other drivers, and this resentment may be aggravated by the fact that you drive a top of the range SUV, which a lot of ill informed people regard as devil's spawn. This resentment, compounded with the tired frustration of a new parent who has not slept for weeks, who is forced to drive an under powered and low rent people carrier that has not been cleaned - inside or out - for weeks through lack of time, that smells of dirty nappies and has windows smeared in chocolate, may trigger an unrelenting torrent of abuse projected squarely in your direction, and may escalate into a full blown and very public argument. I have seen it happen. Twice. But not in a Waitrose car park, you'll understand. ; )
  8. Frankly, your post makes no difference to me whatsoever. I dont like getting my car dinged every time I visit a supermarket. People who ding cars have courtesy do they? Dont see why I should be paying for parking in a spot perfectly and letting them ding my car so I have no reason to be courteous to others. And yes, EVERYONE dings the car! My previous RX300 was hit with a trolley, keyed on one side, dinged in multiple places. Ever since resorting to child bays - NO scratches! I think its better I park in the child bays than key someone elses car when I spot dings on mine. I have a short temper and other people's disrespect towards me or my car resorts to me parking in the child bays. Its an eye for an eye you see. And there I was, trying to make you feel a tiny weeny bit guilty ! ;-) I don't disagree with your reasons. But I do disagree with your tit for tat approach. I am not of the "turn the other cheek" brigade, but I think the eye for an eye attitude can only lead to road rage. And yes, Waitrose spaces are much wider. And they do home deliveries for free.
  9. Raayans, I can't believe you just wrote what you wrote. People like you should leave your arrogance at home and take the bus. Child and disabled parking bays are there for a reason, and the fact that some people abuse them does not give you the right to do the same. If your car barely fits parking bays, maybe you should consider parking somewhere else, or buying a different car. It is people like you who give SUV drivers a bad name. They also attrtact supermarket dings and key sratches.
  10. A few years ago, my brother bought a Renault Espace with auto lock/unlock. From the second day, he woke up every morning to a flat battery. He eventually worked out that, with the key stored in the hallway a few meters away, the car kept locking/unlocking itself all night! He did not notice because it was in the summer and the car was parked out of sight on the side of the house!
  11. I was told by my tyre provider that inner thread wear is typical of all RX models. I certainly have had the same problem with mine.
  12. I would say that this is unlikely: you need to be within close proximity to the car and you have to keep the button pressed for a few seconds (at least 3) for anything to happen. Furthermore, as soon as the button is released, the opening/closing stops... the risk is similar to the car unlocking itself while the remote is in your pocket. dan i have to disagree with you ,whilst at work a while ago i was working on the forklift truck when the spark came in and asked who the ct belonged to as the windows had been down for ages so i had pressed the button without knowing ,i was about 60ft away from my car ,when i had it enabled ,lexus did double check with me that i did want it as other customers had complained their windows had come down without them knowing Fair enough... but worrying. If it is that easy for the windows to open after a prolonged press, it implies that it is even easier to unlock the doors, which only require a quick press of the button. Just as well the car is programmed to lock itself automatically if the doors have not been open within a few seconds of them having been unlocked remotely.
  13. It has happened to me... both mirrors within a three months period. In each case, the whole unit was replaced under warranty (which means that I can't tell you how much it cost - soz).
  14. I'm on my second set of Dunlop and very pleased with them. I found them much quieter and more comfortable than the set of Hancook the first owner had fitted. I don't remember them being cheaper than the competition though... more like mid range. My usual tyre provider (Micheldever Tyres in Hampshire) usually beat the competition on price, and currently have the SP270 at £169.74 fitted... so your deal is pretty attactive!

  16. Not sure about the CT, but with the RX, if you keep the unlock button pressed for a few seconds, the doors will unlock, and the windows and sunroof will open. Conversely, if you keep the "lock" button pressed for a few seconds, the car will lock, and the windows and roof will close. Worth a try.
  17. Hmmm... It's 18 months since mine were refurbished and all 4 wheels are again showing signs of corrosion. Has anyone had their wheels refurbished and still do not see any problem after a couple of years? - What process was used... poweder coating or other? Anyone opted to go for after market rims?
  18. I think the battery issue affects the RX400h only... not the RX300/350. Still, we're drifting off topic...
  19. does it imply that the battery may last longer dependent on where you live, i.e. shorter life span if you live where it is colder longer or on the coast?
  20. It still baffles me that some cars are affected and others not. My car has now done 85k miles on the original battery since Feb 09, and I have never had a problem (touch wood!)
  21. Wow... copart have a 2009 RX400h Exec Ltd Ed with rear ICE with only a £150 bid against it (at the moment). http://www.copart.co.uk/c2/homeSearch.html?_eventId=getLot&execution=e4s1&lotId=20306934&returnPage=SEARCH_RESULTS
  22. I do not believe there is a limit as to how many songs you put in a folder. Check the owner's manual for the compatible formats... there is quite a few The issue I have is that some of the CDs, although definitely on the stick, do not show in the directory.
  23. There are some apps that allow the use of your mobile phone as a Head Up Display. Basically, the whole screen displays your speed and if you put the phone behind the instrument binacle, the speed is then reflected in the windscreen. YOu just have to position the phone where most convenient, and you will probably need to purchase one of these anti slip mats to stop it sliding around. GPS needs to be enabled, but the apps should not interfere with making/receiving calls. I remember coming across one of these apps, where you could build in warnings that would translate in the display flashing or changing from green to red if you went above the pre-programme speed. For instance: if you pre program the speed limit to 30, the display will change between 30 and 34 and then go back to normal above 34 assuming that you do want to drive above that speed. I'm afraid I can't remember the app I used in the past, but look for "dashboard", "speed monitor", "speed limiter" or "car dock". Sorry... it's been a couple of years and I can't remember which I used.
  24. Yep, I use one of these: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Kingston-Technology-32GB-DataTraveler-DTMCK/dp/B009CMN3V0/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1401200271&sr=8-1&keywords=micro+usb+stick If link does not work, look for "micro usb stick"
  25. Black with cream or pale grey leather looks the part. Silver is so... so... hmmm... boring?
