  1. I agree. In three years time, a used IS250 will probably cost £16K+ at the dealers. Mind you if you buy a brand new old model, albeit at a discount, then you might find yourself shortchanged in 2008/9 when it comes to selling.
  2. No technical knowledge I'm afraid but would a twin turbo 3.5 litre petrol BMW hope to get remotely close to the fuel economy of the diesel? It would probably be bringing the 535 petrol into M series territory if they twin turbo'd it and BMW don't want to produce a mainstream rival to those. Just some thoughts and not really an answer but there are some seriously technical members here who will be along soon I am sure.
  3. I have used banks for share dealing and found them to be very expensive at times. Depending on the value of the shares you have and how quickly you need the cash it can sometimes be better to open an internet dealing account with someone like iii.co.uk using your share certificate as a starter. Once its set up you can then buy or sell any or all of them or even buy other shares to add to your portfolio. Funds from transactions will be credited to your nominated bank account. I'ts pretty painless and quite a lot of fun.
  4. Two No.7 and One No.23 all with egg fried rice please. (Food)
  5. As others have said there are a lot of good ones out there. If you are going to do a lot of intensive writing then speed will be a consideration. An external one is far handier although they are usually a bit more expensive.
  6. Formal complaint delivered as you are leaving the site for the last time, along the lines of "take that you b*****d".
  7. He certainly is! I am never sure whether he is just a clown or whether what he says is thought out. Mind you he has a degree so can't be that stupid I guess.
  8. Yes, just stick it in "Drive" and forget it. Or put it in "Manual" and you have a clutchless manual gearbox with changes operated through the buttons. There is also a power setting for extra oomph if you want it. ← Guys, the 330 has no gear selection on the steering wheel, you flick the gear knob left to go into sport/manual mode and push the gear forward to go down a gear and backward to go up a gear and it changes at the normal auto rate. The buttons on the steering wheel are for the radio and cruise control only. You can accelerate/deccelerate the car with the buttons when in cruise mode. ← But the 330 is a BMW. RichOB was referring to the 300, which is a Lexus and does have the steering wheel buttons.

  10. I'd still watch him on Top gear though, he's entertaining (even though he slags off bikes/ bike riders because he's even more inept at riding them than he is at driving cars) ← I agree. He's hugely entertaining but definitely a world class overgrown schoolboy.
  11. I have practically the same kit as AD77. When washing to start with would you use the Sonus Gloss Shampoo or similar or just plain water wash. I assume that you do not dry after this first wash. Does the car being wet help with the Clay? Sorry for appearing stupid but I have never detailed a car before.
  12. I can assure you this is not spyware / virus. It seems to be that the new server does not like linking to images ... etc ! ← No problem. It's just that I didn't know that Metserve was anything to do with LOC so just to be on the safe side I ran the checks.
  13. Yep, I was getting it as well. I ran a spyware and virus check first which revealed nothing so I've got rid of it using a popup stopper (NoAds).
  14. I presume you would need to turbocharge it to get that sort of power Very expensive I would think but if speeds your thing, why not? It would frighten me to death though.
  15. Still pi$$es all over a N/A 200 any day! ← but...but....but.............it's an automatic I just couldnt bring myself to do it! ← Just what is it about a manual gearbox that turns so many of the British on? The IS300 Autobox is fast, quick changing and kickdown is zippy enough for most. It also is pretty good on consumption and reliability. Mind you you have to put up with having both hands available for driving and get used to not doing very much with your left foot. You also have to suffer the shame of relaxing whilst in heavy traffic not to mention the nuisance of cruise control. :yack: :yack: Still, even with all these terrible disadvantages I always go for an Auto, no matter what car I drive. :winky: :winky:
  16. I changed my mind and took the extra discount changing to the SFX kit. Jon advised that the difference in the pads was not too great so I thought "why not". You can of course buy the DAS pads or kit seperately and Autopia have a franchise in the UK where you can also buy the Porter machine complete with transformer etc. Here is the link: http://www.thepolishingcompany.com/foryourcar.html ← That company sure is dear compared to ordering it in yourself. Got mine delivered within 6 days that includes a weekend. Very pleased with the quick delivery will be using them again in the future. Sonus SFX Polisher Kit SON-SFXPOL-KIT 1 199.95 Subtotal 199.95 Coupon discount (sfx) -39.99 Subtotal 159.96 Shipping 47.00 Tax 0.00 Total $206.96 ← Yes they are much more expensive on a lot of the stuff but if you only need one or two items then it can be just as cheap because of the minimum carriage charge from the USA. There is only a big difference of course if we are not charged any duty or VAT which is not guaranteed. The Polishing company always has to. I too got my kit in six days including a weekend and I will use Autopia in the future for all largeish orders.
  17. The last one I saw in the trade was going for offers around £19K. This was for an 01/51 model with 68,000 miles. That makes your private sale price of £23.5k pretty reasonable for an 02 model with 43,000 miles in my opinion. However, buyers for this kind of car are thin on the ground so you might have to sell it at a bargain price. Be very hard with whatever you are buying to take its place though. You don't want to sell cheap and buy dear!
  18. If you don't practise it Mike, then don't read it, I don't support football, or drink alcohol ... does that mean I should remove all football / alcohol related posts ? (this is another strange post from you Mike, something that I would have not expected) This is not against LOC T's and C's ........ so it's not going anywhere. Eid Burak to all the Muslims members .......... :D ← I don't think that Mr Morse was complaining too much about wishing Muslims a happy Ramadan. You'd have to be pretty intolerant to object to that. However the original post went a bit further by: 1) Explaining the meaning of Ramadan...and 2) Giving a link to a website which further explains the history and which in turn gives links to a plethora of Islamic websites. Now if I posted a Happy Easter to all Christians and then explained what Easter was all about and went on to give a link to ....etc etc... then what sort of can of worms might I be opening? I have to confess to a little unease with the depth of this post and given that religion can be a great divider as well as a unifier then a simple "Happy Ramadan" might have been a bit more appropiate.
  19. Read something the other day about a "modest BMW driver", an oxymoron supreme if I ever heard one. Anybody got any more car related or humorous ones such as: Happily Married. Reliable Land Rover. Honest politician. etc etc.
  20. Yep! That's where mine is. I have removed and replaced the disc several times with no problems although I have not driven the car without a disc in it.
  21. On the footplate mostly although I have tried occasionally to use it for braking. B****y difficult though!
