  1. Surely if you took it Coventry it would be worth the wait knowing you had someone who knew what they were doing and using the genuine parts. Look at the long haul. A few hours hanging around, job done. Good price. You would not regret it. Tom
  2. There is a guy at work who is always taking the mike out of my old barge as he puts it. He owns a £20,000+ Mondeo. When it broke down, he was stuck for a lift home. The old barge did the honours. He now wants one. He was astounded at how smooth the LS runs. He is now going to try and buy one. Someone else now is converted. And takes back aii the ***** taking.
  3. I was going through my old documents and came across my MOT certificate I noticed it said Rear axle beam / axle rusted in the advisory. Is this something I should show a lot of concern for? MOT has about 7 months to go. Thanks in advance for any help given.
  4. Nice to know I am not alone. There really is no other way to travel.
  5. Is there anyone on here who uses their LS's everyday, and not just as a weekend car?
  6. Titch LS, Everything you say is true, The Germans and the Japs build the best cars in the world. You can read on here in many places that the LS has done a lot more then 180,000 miles and kept on going. Still feels like new, etc, etc. Some LS's are nudging 500,000 miles. The LS is one of the best built cars around. It all comes down to badge snobbery.
  7. I hope this helps. The LS I own now is my 2nd. Both were Mark 4's. When I sold the 1st one, (biggest mistake I made) The plan was to bypass the LS430 and go for LS460 or 600. both these cars were beautiful. I looked at two of each. Then found the one I own now. I was very lucky to find this one. I thought nothing could beat the 1st one. How wrong I was. Don't get me wrong, the 460 and 600 were lovely cars. But there is just something about the 400 mark 4. They say Lexus was at its peak with this model.
  8. I mirror what you say in saying your understanding how it all works. But would never attempt it.
  9. Very interesting. I would never try that myself. Leave that to someone who knows what they are talking about.
  10. Sorry I could not make it. Just out of interest, where there many LS400's there?
  11. I will not be able to make this meet. I will be working. Sorry I cannot be there. Tom
  12. Can anyone explain why the LS400, whatever Model it is, is going up in value the way it is? Have people woken up to what a good motor they really are? Is this good or bad? Depending how one looks at it.
  13. I have then gone and filled up to the top and trip resets itself. I have known the trip read zero, and gauge read half way between quarter and empty. What are you to believe. When does the res light come on.
  14. Can any one help? On the trip it said I had 63 miles left. I put in £15. The fuel guage went up, but the trip still said 63 miles left. I have seen in other threads that the res you have least 60 miles range left. This is petrol, not LPG. Thanks in advance.
  15. I agree with everything you say. Not everyone's circumstances are the same thou. We have all heard the horror stories. Good and bad. What alot of people forget is the LS is no more thirsty then an 1.8 or 2.0 litre Vauxhall or Ford. Of whatever make you care to mention. Just is the LS is so more superior.
  16. How many miles do you do a year. Will you be able to re-coup the outlay? Is it really worth all the hassle?
  17. Hi, The trouble is, he loves both. He would go for the 5 litre one. But very worried about future problems. He drove mine just after he test drove a Pheaton. There was a 3 year age gap between the two. He was very surprised. 1st LS he has driven.. It will be interesting to see which way this goes. Thanks for the input from everyone.
  18. I have friend who can't make his mind up as to go for the VW or LS. I have heard that the Phaeton is no where near as reliable as the LS. I have heard they come with loads of electrical problems. I said I would ask on here if anyone can advise or if anyone has any knowledge on these cars. He wants the petrol, not diesel. Not bothered with LPG or not. Tom.
  19. That was a really well put forward. In about 6 months I will be looking for this thread and not be able to find it. The mileages these cars can do between cambelt changes is staggering. On vauxhalls etc, its a quarter of that. Tom
  20. There is a link somewhere on here that states the cambelt change on the Mark 4 is every 90,000 miles. But like everyone else, not 100% sure.
