1. you are getting 2 mpg more as the stated town driving for auto is 20 mpg. 29mpg figure will be for both town and motorway driving so if you dont drive on motorway you wont achieve this figure. good to know thanks
2. my first choice would be white for the IS, suites the car great. Ive always wanted a IS. I had a chance to buy one in white at a good price with the spec i wanted about 2 years ago, but insurance was to high back then, anyway i like silver too and thats what i have, maybe i could of waited for one to pop up, but couldnt resist getting my hands on a IS once i hit 25 hehe :)
3. Seems easy enough, but dont think its worth the money ppl are asking for seats on ebay, although i may justify it some day due to my passenger heated seat elements knackered it seems
4. I also have a auto SE. Havent had the car long enough to check but i will, it seems it averages about 30ish mpg around town because when ever i glance at the MPG readout its hovering around 30. I will do the math tho. My last car had a MPG computer and told me average MPG shame the lexus doesnt. For me i have 2 routes to work same 3 miles long. one motorway other town. My last car seemed to do better on fuel on the town run due to it not being to best at getting up to speed from its little 1.6. but wondering with the IS it would be better suited to the motorway route, its effortless getting up to speed compared, and will cruise at 80-90 without much effort too. advise anyone?
5. Make sure your air is set to come direct from outside opposed to circulation, this will help it not fog up inside. it also states this in the owners manual.
6. I was driving home the other day and noticed the auto trans shift selects were in darkness, i gave it a bit of a tap and it all lit up again. what a weird thing to go huh? anyone else? may see if i can take panels off if it purists because sometimes its hard to know where the gears are when its dark... prolly just a loose connection?
7. A comparison would be greatly appreciated. Like i said im unsure what I should go for. surely 5000k are pretty white?
8. I had these style on my last car fogs. there good for the DRL look, but thats about it, not bright and hardly noticeableon the ground at night, but they looked good all the same, although in a IS they might be slight better because there projectors, my last car just had the reflector type. I found also these cheap types tend to slowly blow out random diodes too, and sometimes flicker depending how much you use them. I would recommend CREE Q5 LEDs. just the one Q5 diode would be brighter than all 48 of those with the help of projectors over the top. i just bought a pair of these for my IS fogs, and same diode for my side lights in wedge form. http://www.ebay.co.u...

I would show you a picture but i cannot get the blasted bulb mount to twist! a common fault i here. seezed with rust and debree. Oh and you asking can you use LEDs for main beam? yes but not cheapo, a CREE T6 diode or similar.
9. First of all ive also fitted the same HIDs to mine, also had to switch connectors but seems water tight as the seals are pushed together. I opted for 6000k. I had 6000k in my last car also and were very white to me, however these 6000k's are waaay blue'er than my last kit, i emailed the seller and sent him pictures and hes offered to send a replacement pair. but i might opt for 5000k or 4300k to be safe because i like them white too. Its strange someone brought up it being legal when the IS is setup for HIDs, as it was a option, also all SE's do have washer jets? so cant see it being a problem. in addition i had HIDs on my focus and sailed thru MOTs which was not setup for HIDs. Scatter only occurs badly with old style headlights without defusers over bulbs, im surprised anyone flashed you because the IS is much better than my focus was at directing the light and have never been flashed with either. did you get 55w? btw just a warning, those cheap kits are OK, but the bulbs to tend to fail after maybe a year, you will find you will have to turn off and back on again to get it to fire it up, however replacements are a meer five pounds for a pair...
10. wow when i bought my IS i wouldnt of thought to check for this, luckily mine came with the master anyway, phhw
11. I like em, i like some after market lights as long as there not OTT with loads of chrome, silver or blackened plastics which rarely suite any car in my opinion. These are nice tho, mainly stock red with the usual clear reverse lights. very suttle and with the added bonus of LEDs. they look good.
12. Well I tried to release the bulbs again with no joy. My best bet now is to release the connector and pull out the whole thing, might be able to get some more muscle behind it. Interesting to see this is a common prob, I would replace the units its just they are actually newnd look it from the front
13. Correction: i just found after fitting the battery was not too tall however the terminals were on the wrong side. Which meant the bolt was closer the bonnet due to it sloping downwards. just bought the correct battery and the terminals were correctly at the back of the engine bay... just check yours are. am now wondering if the battery was shorting out because it was touching the bonnet and reduced its life, although the new battery has has different power outputs, so who knows.
14. Be careful on fitting the correct battery! I just purchased my 2000 IS200 and after a week I noticed a small dent on the bonnet where the battery terminal bolt has hit the bonnet due the the WRONG battery being fitted which is a Bosch S4. Its too tall and any taller would of gone straight thru! Its frustrating as the car is flawless otherwise. The battery has also started playing up and is fairly new. Im off to get a Varta tomorrow.
15. Ive bought some Cree Q5 LED fogs to match my 6k HIDs on my IS200. Ive got access to the fogs via the wheel arch however the bulb holder will not twist at all. The fogs were actually replaced on the vehicle in about 2009 but they seem to still have alot of build up and rust. ive sprayed WD40 with no joy. It started raining so had to give up for now, ill try again tomorrow. anyone else had this issue?
16. Got the pads online somewhere. Will get part number later as am away...
17. Just bought a IS200. found pools of water under jack and on opposite side. normal?
18. Sound promising. Ill top up the coolant next week and see what happens and if it still remains i will try it. I need to get a boot light from a scrapper anyway so will grab one... Is the motor accessible from the glove box or engine bay?
19. My rear wheels rattle because of incorrect brake pads also, sounds awful! however were cheap to get thru MOT. Had a closer look and the clips are wrong like you mentioned. The pads are just sitting on the mount with play. just bought some brembo pads and they have the same (correct) clips as the fronts, just havent got around to fitting them yet. So basically you need new pads.
20. Ive recently bought a IS200 SE Auto 2000 with 97k and have discovered that there is a rattling tattering grinding noise coming from the engine bay almost near the glove box area. Its quite consistent almost like a motor turning. Its not always noticeable after long trips but is obvious at low speeds and when idling from cold. It does change its tone with the revs, however the noise doesnt come directly from the engine but at the back near battery, passenger side in front of glove box. Its just had a full service with 5w30 and new plugs. Coolant is slightly low. Ive read various posts of air circulation issues within the heater matix but changing air settings has no effect on the noise, also suggestions of new plugs but already done. maybe the water pump is on its way out? It would be good to compare engine sounds to another IS200. I will try and get a video up sometime. Any thoughts?
21. First of all thanks to everyone for the great advice on buying my first IS200. And here she is all cleaned and polished. Its a 2000 SE Auto Navigator with 97k. Originally I was put off buy the wheels it came with but I have to say there growing on me! so might keep them. tell me your thoughts on the wheels btw because if i switched them ide get some beautiful diamond cut OEMs.
