  4. on the back of mine its quite clear were to cut out (not that I have yet as I'll prob be selling it)
  5. avg and zone alarm are very reputable companies. the free stuff is just as effective as the stuff you have to pay for, just with a lot less options
  6. Don't trust your computer in the hands of microsoft firewall!!!!! Go get them free programs and use them. Norton is very hard to uninstall properly. best off reformating fo sure'
  7. ditch norton and use avg antivirus (free version) and zone alarm firewall (free version) instead. Norton sucks big time
  8. Thanks for all your replies guys and especially to Gord for his over the phone diagnostics. Turns out the temperature switch on the radiator is knackered, turns out the wife had the climate control switched off (which normally always stays on) and so the fans weren't kicking in to cool the engine. Ordered new one. £50 odd tho
  9. Thanks guys, how do you get rid of the air lock, run it with the rad cap off or something? Thanks Jim
  10. Absolutely gutted, the wife has just brought back my trusty IS200 saying it overheated in heavy traffic, steam coming out from under the bonnet and everything. They had to pull over and let the engine cool down for ages, then they turned round and brough the car home and it was fine all the way back (no traffic tho I presume). I've had the coolant changed recently and the radiator was full and still is. Does anybody know why this would of happened? is the water pump on the way out or is there possibly a blokage or the thermostat knackered. Any ideas will be gratefully recieved. I just really gutted that my lex has broken down. A sad day for me idead Thanks Jim
  11. panasonic lumix ones are very good and small and cheap. the Ixus 55 gets rave reviews as well
  12. anybody want to go halves on a set of gas struts?
  13. I have aquired a spare set of std 17" alloys for my IS200. I was thinking of having them done in black chrome rather than silver but I'm unsure what it would look like. I don't like normal chrome but I was thinking that the black chrome would look a lot more subtle and suit my black car. Has anyone got any pictures of wheels in black chrome on an IS? Any thoughts on how it may look? Also, has anybody used this company before and could they recomend them? Diamond Wheels Thanks Jim
  14. Don't get them to do your aircon. use a specalist aircon place. I wouldn't bother supplying oil unless you can really trust the person that is servicing your car
  15. 148,000. has started everytime and never broken down. sweet as a nut
  16. thanks for the reply Rob, but no they can't be taken out the other side. I'm really baffled why this plate is only over 3 to 6. Can anybody help with this please as I really don't want to take the rocker off again
  17. Have taken off the rocker head, and started replacing the gaskets at the top of the spark plug tubes, however there is a plate that runs over the top of no. 3 to 6 and as the outer of the gasket is solid can't be taken out without removal of this plate. The plate appears to be rivited on. Can anybody shed any light on this for me please. The mechanic at lexus has never done this before so didn't know either. I'll try to upload an image Thanks in advance Jim Here's the image

  19. best thing I every bought was a 2 foot breaker bar for my socket set, had to get it when changing my front discs as broke 3 spanners and a cheap socket set. Problem with japanese cars, they just bolt em together without using any grease, they just don't think about people having to undo them a few years down the line
  20. double it and your about right! no joke
  21. ther is a workshopp article on how to do this. have a search. you basically remove the dash tray and there are 2 more bolts above the heater controls and clock. it all comes out as one unit
