I keep hearing criticism over the ride of the 430 as opposed to the smoother ride of a 400, is this a fact? Do all 430's take a larger tyre or wheel-size or what? excuse my ignorance on this topic-as I genuinely don't know about the differences of those models,Iain.

Never thought a tenner would cause such a debate, I'm an old Scots guy who was brought up in the 'old school', the Lexus parts guy who sold me the wheel-caps, had found them in a corner somewhere in the warehouse,when I asked him how much he wanted for them, he said, 'just give me a tenner' given the fact that they are so difficult and expensive to find, I figured I was getting a bargain, ( although used, they were in excellent condition) so, to show my gratitude, and, he made it clear the money was going into his own pocket, AND I may have occasion in the future to use that particular Parts Dept again, I thought it prudent to drop him a twenty, -not a fortune these days-but might buy him a drink or two, I'm gonna have to lie -down now, all this typing has tired me out.........

@cruisermark-they were a set lying around the parts store-he hasn't got any more unfortunately, I have 4 old caps-but only two Lexus logos, but they are available from Lexus-though. You are welcome to my old caps, if you need them? Iain.

Got the car back from having my wheels on the '98 LS400 done, they are the original 5-spoke, and they came up a treat, Lexus Milton Keynes Spares Dept coughed-up 4 plastic wheel-caps, complete with logo-they were old stock, the guy charged me £10......I was so taken aback, -I gave him £20,this, along with the car being given a complete valeting, has brought the old girl up to scratch-I have to say the car looks really amazing, I would upload photos of the car, but am finding it difficult on my iPhone, -so will borrow a laptop as soon as, and post images, I am so amazed at how well the car looks now-I want to buy another LS..............

Welcome back, nice looking car you have there,mine's is black too, they scrub up well don't they? Fiddling about with batteries in an LS400 is sometimes a bit nervewracking-you don't quite know how the electronics are going to react when you switch the ignition back on after a battery-change or recharge! Anyway enjoy the car now its back on the road.

Surprised that eBay didn't have loads of ads for this particular glass, -try eBay 'breaking LS400"? Though I guess there may be minor differences for different years, your lucky your not having to source a complete door-mirror-I'm having a real problem finding one, good luck anyway, Iain.

I did have a choice-leave it on blocks on my drive, or drive it to the guy's workshop -4 miles away-so no real hasstle,re the offset Mike,I find wheel suppliers are a bit unsure about LS wheel offsets,( whether they will clear the caliper, or not) and rather than take a risk buying a set, getting them delivered, then finding problems trying to fit them, -I opted to get the originals refurbed-at least I'll know they fit-of course, sods-law says that now I've posted this, I'll have LOC Members coming out of the woodwork saying they have a spare set of 16" wheels lying in the back of their garage doing nothing...but, hey-ho.....

Put my LS400 into a Wheel-Refurbishment workshop two days ago,hopefully ready Monday,decided after three weeks trying to get new wheels,and although telling potential suppliers about the dreaded LS400 offset problem, they would fail me at the 11th hour just before purchase, telling me they were "not sure now they would fit" after getting fed-up with all this bollocks, I decided to get the existing wheels refurbished, Soooo...... Twiddling thumbs, big empty space on the drive, ....looking through Autotrader website at LS400's for sale, has anyone clocked this weird one?:-LS400 1998, 78,000 miles,LHD Spanish registered, £4,995. (Trader in Great Missendon, Bucks,not that far from me) I rather think that's a bit wishful thinking, even with a Service History, is it just me,or is that a tad expensive?

Seems almost too good to be true-'95 LS400, 58k on the clock, -but if it has a kosher FSH, and it drives and looks OK, then it sounds like you have a bargain there, good luck!

Scribe, you hit the nail on head with that last comment-what happens when all the LS400's are past it-we 400 lovers will have no option then, I guess then we will all have to gravitate to the 430's available, and reminisce till the cows come home over the extinct LS400's, bit depressing really.....

It's such a temptation to go 'straight through' with your exhaust on an LS400- bet that beast of a V8 would sound great! ( don't think the neighbours would like it much though)
