  1. Titch LS A very old tried and tested practice, I first watched in the middle 60's, my Father using it on his '47 Jaguar SS100, (Listening to the big-ends knocking, which he replaced himself, I might add) The-Acre That's something that a lot of todays Car Mechanics cannot, or just can't be bothered to do, -strip something down, remove, and replace the worn part, then reassemble, (worn bearings, seals, bushes, whatever) -easier to just replace the whole part, -Alternators being a typical example, it was 'easier' to lash out a lump sum of dosh to get a completely new one, sometimes costing a small fortune- when it was usually just needing the Diodes replaced, generally, only costing a few quid, -thankfully, this is something that can get done easily these days at a comparatively low cost.
  2. Mmmm, don't know if I could wangle the time this weekend, unfortunately.

  4. Stupid question: is this the one at Santa Pod?
  5. Oh, and before I get any smart-Alec replies, I ain't cookin' no Horse-Meat!...........
  6. A bit remiss of me to forget to do this, sorry, but a belated thank you Ian, for organising this meet, I for one, can't wait for the next one,It was such a gas to meet everyone, and talk Lexus, if we have another, and it's an overnighter,( camping out?) I would volunteer to bring, set-up, and cook barbecued food, (can also cater for vegetarian tastes) just a thought?
  7. It's a pity you had to leave so early Graham, but a pleasure meeting you, and getting a drive of your beautiful LS460, -a truly wonderful example of superior Lexus engineering, thanks again.
  8. I've got a couple of group photos I want to put up, but I cannot edit out the numberplates? could I send them to one of you guys, and maybe you can edit them, then put them up on this thread?
  9. Good photos Ganesh, thanks again for "tweaking" my Galaxy Note-enabling me to post on the LOC -ain't technology great!
  10. Never mind Ian, when I can borrow my Wife's Laptop later,( that's if I can stop her playing Candy Crush on it....) I will upload some of my photos.
  11. Thanks to everyone who I met at the meet today, I thoroughly enjoyed myself, great to put faces to the names, -we really have to do this again sometime soon......
  12. Took my LS down to town today, had it washed, dried, polished and valeted, scrubbed-up a treat, driving back home, and the heavens opened, can't win! Looking forward to meeting everyone tomorrow, - will be at Newport Pagnell for 9.00am, to join the convoy.
  13. It's gone Mike, -I called about it an hour ago, guy said it went this morning, also, he sounded a bit miffed, said he should have charged more for it, -wish I hadn't hung back so long-quite fancied it.......ho hum...
  14. Wonder if he was nobbled by the parking wardens for doing that....after all, he wouldn't be taxed, so, technically, it would be illegal to use the bay, good for him though,( or her)
  15. I'm for meeting at Newport Pagnell services-I live in Milton Keynes anyway, the idea of travelling in convoy up to the meet sounds like a great idea, can we arrange a time?
  16. On Tuesday this week, I took my LS400 along to DSAutomotives of Aylesbury, for a Cambelt replacement, the car has done 81k- but no written evidence in the service records to confirm one, it turned-out it had been replaced, but DS Automotives informed me, that there was no date attached, -so it was anybody's guess when it had been done, I told them to go ahead anyway, got the water pump replaced in the process, plus new spark-plugs and full service, Owner informed me that the car was in really good condition, apart from a slight leak from the steering-rack, plus the discs will need replacing at some time in the near future, car was in the Garage for two days, and £890.00 lighter, I drove her home, happy that she had been worked on by a Lexus-trained mechanic, who, I might add, was not only competent and professional, but courteous and friendly, I would recommend them.
  17. I've seen them Mike, but am wary about buying them, as I'm unsure if they will fit and connect properly to my car-most of the eBay mirrors being from earlier models?
  18. An independent not far from me,( Aylesbury) never used them before, but come recommended on a LOC thread I read recently, when I called them to enquire about doing the work, the service mechanic impressed me with his knowledge of the car, then told me he was Lexus-Trained, I saw by the website, that they predominantly work on high-performance cars anyway,I'll let you know how it goes.
  19. Difficult to diagnose without actually hearing it,but if it's a 'throbbing' noise, coming from underneath you, could be exaust, but that wouldn't diminish if you took the revs up any higher, -it would get worse, could be something loose though, vibrating at idle speed, but stopping as revs are increased, sorry I can't be any more specific.
