  1. Never liked convertibles, witnessed the aftermath of an accident in Canada, Corvette Stingray (with roll bar) flipped, killing both the driver and his girlfriend,-I like a roof over my four wheels.
  2. Probably the case-dodging potholes,I've been doing a bit of "evasive swerving" of these hazards, there all over the place these days, you just don't want to drop a wheel on your LS 400 down one of these, cost you a bleedin'fortune in suspension repairs.
  3. Years ago,I ran a Landscape Construction company, the Bank I used, (Nat West) did me no favours whatsoever, when I started-up, within a year, I was run off my feet-business just took off like a plane, Bank couldn't do enough for me, I'm not that niave to appreciate that they (Banks) are not a charity, but I never forgot how unhelpful they were in the early days, one of my more friendly competitors, once boasted to me about how he and his Bank Manager were so friendly, they play rounds of golf together, I replied: "you wait till you experience financial hardship, see how friendly he stays then", unfortunately for him, he found that out all too soon a year later, when soaring overheads busted him, and the Bank pulled the financial rug from under him, his golf-partner walked away from him, Banks are NOT your friend.
  4. normski2 Definitely, it's dog eat dog in this age, gone are the days of loyalty to an established company, get the cheapest deal, no need for me to chunter-on about 'rip-off Britain'-we all know the score, AA and RAC are run by a bunch of bean-counters these days, it ain't about Road-Side Service any more, these days are long gone, yes,I know that may sound sentimental and niave, but I'm old enough to remember when they wore a uniform, and saluted, when coming to your roadside-rescue, ah! halcyon days indeed!

  6. Not a startling topic to post here, I'm sure most Old Lexonians have heard all this before,( and no doubt, had the experience)of having just arrived back from a long weekend spent in Scotland, -my 5th In as many months, I just had to share the sheer pleasure of the Lexus Driving Experience, I have made this trip from MK to Scotland dozens of times in the last 30-odd years, using over that period various vehicles I've owned: Land Rover,Ford Fiesta,Jeep CJ8,Porsche Carerra,Citroen 2CV-.....(yes,I know, don't ask) BMW 7 series, plus various motor cycles, but nothing, has ever compared with my old Lexus LS400, these last few trips have been exercises in comfort, reliability, -pretty good MPG, given the engine size,my only problem driving it on Motorways?......resisting the strong impulse to flatten my foot to the floor when presented with a clear road, that V8 is just bustin' to go, and before you know it,its runnin' away with you, -sheer driving pleasure-great fun-I want another LS400........
  7. The monkey had obviously never used a tubular drift, to tap the ball-race in Steve! ...production line butchery, at its best.
  8. Mmm...keep looking at Ads for 430's-but I love my 400, wouldn't want to part with it,would rather spend my money keeping it up to scratch, than buy another car, swings and roundabouts.
  9. Exactly what I was thinking-if in doubt, then walk away from it, its a buyers Market.
  10. Thanks Jon, I live in Milton Keynes, took the wheels to a Wheel Doctor franchise a couple of miles from me, I was a bit dubious about him doing the job at first-the guy didn't inspire confidence, but, I thought, what the hell, he couldn't damage them any more than they were already,-in the event, I needn't have worried, he did all 5 wheels, with the VAT it totalled £400, I'm happy with them, job done.
  11. Please bear with me on this folks-I'm attempting to upload a topic plus photos on the Forum, first time I've ever used my Galaxy Note smartphone to do this, (I don't own a laptop) and would like to find out how easy it is to do, I had my wheels refurbished recently, they were in a terrible mess, had all 5 done, and they came up a treat.
  12. Cruisermark Sorry, got a bit off-thread there with talking Parrots Clunkfish Tried what you suggested-job done, thanks.
  13. Insurance Companies have always been a law unto themselves, unfortunately, they are a necessary evil, I have no "loyalty" to any of them, I get the cheapest deal I can squeeze out of them every year when my policy comes up for renewal.
  14. Maybe should have mentioned that I was trying to pair the Samsung to a Parrot device-and not my Lexus, the Parrot needs replacing,as its 3-4 years old, as I'm writing this, I'm deciding to go and buy a new one today. ...
  15. That would be a great idea, -be a very good chance to get together again, and discuss the "big" meet, -be easier on a face to face basis, as opposed to all this online talking,-maybe pull the outside tables together, and make it a Lexus conference-if its tipping it down, take the meeting inside.
  16. Hi Jerry, welcome to the LOC, your not the only person I've heard of having a problem with a Galaxy Note, pairing it with Bluetooth, My iPhone would pair with anything, but, the Galaxy gives me grief in that department, I know it's not helping you solve your problem, but just to say maybe it's an inherent problem with a Samsung device.
  17. Welcome to the LOC, I think you will find the folks on here very friendly and helpful in all things Lexus, -couldn't help noticing the Ontario plates on your cars, what part you from? -I lived in Toronto (Mississauga) back in the 70's, living back in the UK now, I remember how vicious the winter weather could be in Ontario, and what the road-salt did to Cars, they didn't last long!

  19. Personally, I would travel any distance in the UK to attend a Lexus Owners Club meet,-if last Sundays East Midlands ( my first) was anything to go by, I'd take me and my LS anywhere to repeat the experience, a finer bunch of people I never met. I'd be up for an overnighter, camping sounds good, -as I mentioned on a previous thread, I wouldn't mind taking responsibility for cooking the food,( barbecue ?) It would also give members a better chance to get to know each other, something not achievable on a one-day meet, whatever we decide, count me in.
  20. Hey Malc- I've done that also, at least the dynamo was relatively easy to remove in those days, ( though not on a Jag)
  21. Dynamos....... took about three days to charge the battery after a strenuous starting procedure on a cold morning-engine finally firing on the last revolution before the battery finally packed-up, youngsters with cars these days don't know how lucky they are with modern auto-technology- anyone on here ever use a starting handle.....?
  22. Its not a million miles from you, but I've found a great guy in Aylesbury, specializing in Toyota, Porsche Aston Martin, -Owner is ex-Lexus mechanic, friendly, not the cheapest, but not the dearest either, he did my Ls400's cam belt recently, -not a job I'd entrust to any old mechanic, he also performed a major service at the same time, top man, -I could send you his details if you want.
