  1. Full marks for perseverance, which has culminated in a satisfactory result, the fella who damaged your car, must have ****himself, when he got the knock on door from the Old Bill...nice one Chris.
  2. I stopped reading the Broadsheets years ago, their just sensationalist, circulation -number orientated comics,in my opinion, owned by Meglomaniacs, like the Barclay twins,Murdoch, and that even bigger ******,the pornographer,Richard Desmond,I much prefer reading,as I have done for decades,Private Eye,they get all the news, years before the mainline media does, and they get the facts right, most of the time anyway,a better track record than the dailies by far.
  3. When discussing the latest crop of politicians -especially,our Fearless Leader Cameron, the words:'brains,' and 'dangerous' spring to mind, none of them, have ever had an original thought,if they ever do,don't hold yer breath...
  4. Ditto on that Chris, hope you get some recompense and a satisfying conclusion to this sorry saga,-makes you wonder what the point of all this 'Orwellian' culture of CCTV is about,if it can't be utilised for the good of ordinary folk, without all this stupid political correctness.
  5. Hi Jeremy, sorry to hear about the failed MOT,but then,it sounds like the remedial work, will be confined to the rear brake-calipers,sticking pistons perhaps? either way, it doesn't sound too difficult to remedy hopefully. I'm going to address the encroaching corrosion on my subframe also fairly soon,it's minimal, but I've read here on the Forum, about members wire brushing, and applying something like an oil-based paint all over it as a protection against the elements/ road salt, but it's something I'll tackle when the weathers warmer, anyway, good luck with the work to get your car back on the road-sounds like you've found a decent Garage to get your car tested/ serviced, their a rarity, these days.
  6. Hi Jonas, I've seen the Costco jacks, just the other day in fact,it looks beefy,is capable of lifting your car safely.I assume you wouldn't be carrying it around with you,as your right,it's damn heavy! price is reasonable,I bought the Halfords jack recently, ( 2 ton job) cost me around £65,does the job, still a cumbersome bit of kit,as all trolley jacks are,my choice:wish I'd seen the Costco one first though.
  7. Glad to hear everything fine with your car Graham,it's certainly a beauty,I also find Lexus Main Dealers in general, provide exceptional Customer service,as should be the norm, and not the exception.
  8. The reason I got the MOT at such a good rate,is,we are a three-car household, and started to use the local Mr Clutch Franchise, around two years ago,I received a Gold Membership card shortly after using their garage for a first MOT,since then,we only pay a £28.00 fee,at the risk of sounding like I'm blowing their trumpet, they are courteous, efficient, reasonably priced for repairs,a rarity, these days.
  9. lS600hl.....don't I wish-when my lottery numbers come-up-that will be my car of choice.....
  10. One year on,my MOT is not due till the 18th of this month, but,as I'm going up to Scotland, two days after that date,to visit and work there, for an indefinite period,I thought I would get an early Test, so,8.30am, this morning, found me awaiting the outcome, with baited breath,-of course,I needn't have worried, regular servicing, and more than a bit of TLC, paid off,yet again, the old girl, passed, with flying colours, with only an advisory,on all four brake discs,-worn,but not excessively so,the Mechanic,an old fart like me,even commented on the good condition of the car for its year, job done,so,£28.00 lighter, plus a valid MOT,saw me driving back home,a very happy chappie-life can be so good sometimes.......I'm very easily pleased.
  11. On the Radio yesterday, some Government spokesman/ wallah, stated, that as there would obviously be no obvious visible tax disc displayed, the presence of static camera vans, would be increased, - hang on- was that a cow I just saw, jumping over the Moon?........
  12. That's the same problem I have with my windscreen at this time-didn't notice it in the Summer, but these last few mornings, and late afternoons, with the sunny days we've been having,it's like a whiteout-effect,I think I'm going to have to replace my windscreen sometime soon.
  13. Oh Ian, does that not look sore man! probably a daft question, but are feeling any better? best wishes to you,Iain.
  14. Wouldn't worry too much about it-half a dozen of one,and six of the other-they look fine.
  15. Wish him a speedy recovery, and all the best from me Heather,Iain.
  16. Thanks for the information-it's put my mind at rest,I kind of thought it would be a right stramash, getting the old seal off anyway, not a job I was looking forward to,-not to mention, the probable high cost of a new seal.
  17. I bow to your superior knowledge,(and memory) dear boy, after all,you are 'ahem',cough' slightly older than me Bluesman...........
