Sadly, the order has been cancelled by Amayama because the order is out of stock at the supplier. Oh well, it was worth a try. No response from eBay breakers so far, so may have to move on to Plan B and get one fabricated. I have some bushes on order, so will wait till they arrive and I can see what size the bracket needs to be.

Thanks Mark, yes, I have tried Lexus Parts Direct but they do not have any and, according to them, the part has been discontinued. I have tried Amayama as well but when I did the search it came up with something like (I can’t remember the exact wording) permanently unavailable, which seems to be in keeping with what Lexus Parts Direct are saying.

Hi All Does anyone have any new or good secondhand brackets that go around the rear anti-roll bar bushes for a 1995-97 Mk 3 LS400? I think they are the same on the 1997-2000 Mk 4. The part number is 48824-50030. I have looked on Amayama and Rock Auto but they are not available new there. Other US suppliers seem to be able to obtain them new (according to their websites) but I thought I would try to locate some in the UK first. if anyone can help, I would be very grateful. Many thanks. Colin

Hi Howard, the replacement was fine. I still have the car, the mirrors have been on now for six years and they are as good as the day that they were fitted. I have not really been able to tell whether the heated element works as the mirrors rarely seem to get frost on them. But I have been pleased with the replacement.

Hello Malc Thanks for this. I can confirm that the Mk3, like the Mk1 and Mk2, has two coil packs. It may be worth expanding the coil packs entry on the post above to include igniters. There are two igniters, one for each bank of cylinders, and if one of these stops working this has the same effect as a coil pack going down i.e. the car runs only on four cylinders and it may also be difficult to start the car. The igniters are located on the driver’s side of the engine bay towards the back of the engine under a black cover. They are about two inches square and are easy to replace - two screws to remove and the wiring plug to pull out. The passenger side igniter went on one of my cars, followed shortly afterwards by the passenger side coil pack, Both replaced now and all sorted. Colin

Before you try a replacement aerial or aerial mast, give the aerial a good clean up with chrome cleaner, polish or very fine wire wool (0000 grade, which will not scratch the chrome). Then spray some WD40 or light lubricating oil on the aerial. It might then retract properly. Mine stopped retracting one day and I gave it a good clean up and lubrication. It has worked fine since then.

Glad to hear it is back and sorted, Malc. I had my alternator replaced by Lexus Wolverhampton about 3 years ago on my 1997 LS400 at around 222,000 miles - no record in service history of it having been replaced previously, so the one replaced may or may not have been the original. I also had the starter motor replaced at the same time free of charge as there had been a recall for replacement and the starter motor on mine had not been replaced. The reason for the replacement was that there was a remote risk of fire on the original fitment.

I’ve had the same problem - the alarm went off when my wife put her mobile phone in the same place. I seem to remember reading somewhere that the sensors for the alarm are placed in or around the centre console arm rest, so electronic signals in that area from a mobile phone may well activate the sensors and set the alarm off. We have not put a mobile phone or any other electronic device in that area since!

Hi guys, Thanks for your comments. I have a problem with a new set of shoes. I bought some new Lexus rear discs, which my indie fitted and he said that the parking brake shoes needed replacing as well as there was hardly any material left on them. I bought some Brembo shoes advertised for the LS400 but when my indie fitted them he was unable to get the brake disc back on over the shoes as there was insufficient clearance i.e. the shoe material seemed to be too thick for the disc to fit over them. Hence my question about what the correct thickness of the pad material should be. Having looked at the thickness of the material on the Brembo shoes, it measures about 3.5-4 mm, so it does not seem from your comments that this is any thicker than it should be for new shoes. Any thoughts on why the discs will not go over the new shoes would be gratefully received?
