  1. Yikes! I’d personally fork out the cost to get the car over to Lee Perryman and his team at SRD in West Sussex..... Still think they’d come in better in the long run than the gamble you’d be taking with the main stealer! It’s ultimately your decision, but the lack of belief and uncertainty mixed with their higher costs would worry me.... Best of luck whatever you decide.
  2. Thanks Sean. It's below 7 degrees, that much I know! Think the night drives I've been doing are between 1-3 degrees, maybe 4 at best....... I'm sure they will work better in the Summer, but still think I need more meat to tame the beast! I've already adapted my driving style to factor in the added power and possibility of lighting up the tyres, but still seeing the traction control light up at least once per drive!
  3. Hi Andy, First I've come across for this (that's across both UK and US forums) particular fault. I'd 100% be looking for a second opinion if I was you. I'd also look to source a replacement engine if those costs are accurate. There were some for sale in the States which you could probably buy, import and pay all the VAT/duty/tax etc, and still come in cheaper than the local dealer quote! Other option would be to ask if Lee Perryman over at SRD in West Sussex is willing to work on it for you? Lee recently completed a supercharger installation on my car, so is the closest we probably have to an independent specialist on these rare cars. You would need to appreciate this would be their first engine strip down, but at £60+VAT an hour, they will easily come in under main stealer prices..... I'd have a vested interest in this, as I may one day look to go down the forged/low compression pistons route. You can get it trailered over to SRD easily enough, think there is a guy who can do it for you with a proper enclosed trailer etc if you want me to ask Lee? Whatever you decide, best of luck, and sorry to start here on such a low! All the best, Pete
  4. Very welcome David. Look forward to hearing from you guys on how you find them. I certainly felt a big difference once these were fitted. Turn in seemed more precise, and I really notice it under hard braking or pushing on through the bends. A lot less vague and woolly than the OEM setup.
  5. This, I have 275’s on the rear at the moment, not working! Lol. Hoping we can get the 305’s out back, with 265’s at the front. I’ve messaged Ken from the States, plus working with CCW. They do stunning custom wheels.
  6. Hey Big Rat, Indeed, my running costs will hardly change, may get an additional oil change each year for added peace of mind, but otherwise it’s bus as usual. The mechanical LSD and bigger wheels and tyres will certainly help get the power down, something this colder weather is highlighting as a weakness at present! The supercharger itself is only running at 0.5bar boost, hardly anything in other words. The added oil and gearbox coolers are keeping operating temperatures nice and low, so won’t have issues there either. Acceleration from around 70mph is incredible, honestly don’t think many cars would keep up. The fact my boost is instant versus the turbo cars means you just take off, literally! Lol.
  7. Hey Etienne, Great stuff! Glad it arrived safe and sound my friend. Look forward to your review on those rear camber arms, may need a set myself soon! Think I’ll be investing in some bigger wheels and tyres! Lol. Enjoy! Cheers. Peter
  8. So after my second outing, it’s official...... I need wider tyres! Lol. Seen more of the traction control light tonight than I have in the last 3/4yrs of ownership! Think the mechanical LSD will also help tame the beast! Better start playing the lottery!
  9. Is it?! Hadn’t noticed! Lol. I’ll sleep, need all my senses to be tip top!! Honestly doesn’t sound that different to before, you get the hiss of the blow-off valves when you’ve built some boost (remember it only goes to 0.5bar, which is nothing really!), but otherwise it’s pretty quiet..... I’m loving that though, will be easier to catch out some exotics! Lol.
  10. Hi All, Forgot to upload the dyno results from the last run we did before the supercharger was added. This was achieved with PPE headers, H&S exhaust, RR-Racing tuned intake and suitable remap of the ECU.
  11. Indeed, guess it’s important to remember Lexus took a big gamble with the IS F, performance cars weren’t their thing by any means, so I guess they played safe by sticking to some of their inherent qualities. One being the quietness of their cars. They’ve certainly improved with the soundtrack for the RC F and GS F, but I agree the stock exhaust on our cars is too quiet. The exhaust manifolds are also very poorly designed as Lee was telling you today. As for your spreadsheet, if it’s any consolation I’m still nowhere near done with mine yet! Lol.
  12. Hi, Is this from the chap in the Dominican Republic? Looks familiar! I’d toyed with the TOM style kit, thing is the weave is different to all my existing carbon parts! If it is that guy, you should be fine. Few guys in the States have bought it from him, and were happy with the result.
  13. Went well, not much opportunity to open it up, but had one good stamp on the loud pedal........... WOW!!!!! Lol. I was, but at the speed limit in plenty of traffic sadly! Didn’t set off till quite late, busy chatting with Lee at the valeters. Had another IS F owner come down to see the car as well which was a touch, great to meet you Ricky, hopefully see you again at a meet or two...... Car is safely tucked up in the garage again. Next trip will be Friday night, can’t wait!
  14. Hmm, seems unlikely, but what about re-coding the fobs to your car? Just a thought.... Don’t see why they shouldn’t be coded correctly, but it’s another thing to tick off the possibility list?? When you think not screwing the petrol cap back on properly can cause a CEL, it could be anything...... Hopefully a proper diagnostic check will reveal some codes to help narrow it down.
  15. Morning All, So got the message from Lee I’ve been waiting for yesterday afternoon, car is ready for me to collect! He’s getting it cleaned up this morning, and I’m hoping to sneak off at lunchtime to collect it. Will take a half day holiday obviously, but think it’s worth it! Lol. If I’m lucky should get away before the rush hour, but we’ll see. Need to fill up (luckily there is a Shell garage in spitting distance of SRD), but to say I’m a little excited about my first drive with the supercharger installed would be a massive understatement! Roll on lunchtime!
  16. Hi, Would need to have a closer look to see if it’s the hangers or something else really. I always recommend swapping out exhaust hangers for urethane versions, the OEM rubber type tend to degrade and get brittle, kind of expected given where they live and the harsh roads etc. Best of luck! Cheers. Pete
  17. Hi, sorry to hear you’re having issues. Stupid question, when did you last replace the fob battery? Had similar issues when mine needed replacing...... Also, when was your main battery last replaced? Sure I read somewhere this can also cause issues with starting/locking etc....?? Hope you get it figured out soon! Cheers. Pete
  18. Hey Maz, no, didn't get a compression test done in the end. The fact there has as you say only been one case where this was an issue (guy used nitrous, drag raced his car a lot) mean't I didn't see much point! The dyno results proved I had a healthy motor to start with. If there had been any spikes or issues when we did the first dyno pre-install, I would have asked Lee to do a compression check.
  19. Hi Lee, Thanks, I am indeed struggling to stop smiling at the results. Lee and his team did a great job installing everything, the kit itself was very comprehensive from RR-Racing, so can't forgot to say a huge thanks to Rafi and Simon for their part in this. I've not driven the car as yet unfortunately, still waiting for the green light from Lee to go and collect it. Don't think they are far off finishing it, just a few minor tweaks required. The car should handle the increased power without any real issues. I took the precaution of adding both the gearbox cooler and a further engine oil cooler to keep things nice and cool during operation. Rafi/RR-Racing have been using this setup on their shop demo car for a while now with no issues whatsoever. When you consider these results were achieved using just 0.5bar of boost, it's even more impressive. Getting enough traction could prove to be the trickiest part. I am waiting for some feedback from the States on whether I can increase the size of my current tyres (rears mainly), but will probably look at changing out the wheels for something more substantial at a later date. Would mean doing some work on the wheel arches, as well as adding some suspension components so we can adjust the camber etc, but will have to see how it goes in that respect. I also plan to add a proper LSD (RR-Racing are offering some Cusco units I might try) and change out the current BC BR coilovers for a set of the Penske's that RR-Racing offer. Will be sure to report back from time to time so people know how the car is coping with everything, but signs suggest it should be fine.
  20. Thanks Maz, your turn next my friend! To answer Dav's question about what it means, if you consider the LF A produces 552bhp, mine is now making more than that. Whilst I wouldn't compare the two (lets remember what an LF A costs!), it's just amazing to think this supercharger has given me an increase of 168bhp. Couldn't be happier with the results. Lee and his team at SRD have outdone themselves. Really can't find the words to thank them for their efforts, truly amazing stuff!
  21. Welcome Wayne, congrats on the F, looks like a nicely spec’d example. Good to see another tuned car on here. Sounds like you have some nice plans for it fella. Enjoy! Pete
  22. Funny you say that, Lee actually said you barely hear the supercharger, which doesn’t actually bother me in the slightest. He seemed to think you could just make out the BOV’s, but didn’t think he heard much else! Should make it even easier to creep up on those poor unsuspecting M3/M5’s! Lol.
